  1. Seems to me your amplifier located in the loggage compartment is faulty/disconnected. Open up the hood, and detach the cover on the bottom and make sure the wire attachement piece to the amp is secured (latch on the bottom of the block needs to be pushed up all the way for the plug to go in all the way). If that is okay, and it happens regularly, probably a bad amp, should be replaced under warranty and a 10 minute job. Sam
  2. Don't the turbos have 8.5 x 19 and 11.5 x 19s on? I would double check to ensure fitment.
  3. Here's the update, All done, brand new PSE installed, and wired. Added a fourth button with controls (stand-alone) for the sports exhaust which took the most time since the controls do not exist and need to be wired/added but it came out clean as factory! Here are some pics I took earlier today, I'm very happy with the sound and the fact that I don't have to be in sport mode to enjoy the roar... Sam
  4. If everything is still working, would adding a Dension Ipod kit ($500) be a better option? CD is a PITA anyway. You can play 1000+ song with full control of your Ipod from OEM equipment. Just a thought. Yes and know, I'm with you on all the advantages of the dension kit, but I like to keep all parts on my cars OEM... just a personal preference. The CD came out on its own this morning when I was shining the leather dash, just pressed that eject button and there she was - the CD. I grabbed with with both my hands and pulled it out before it got eaten again. Put another cd (took me a while to grow some cojones), it played and ejected fine... Not a good experience at all but glad it decided to work with me for one reason or another. I'm enjoying my CD-Changer (CDC4) I installed a few weeks back, so that's doing it for me for now... My next 911 though I will definitely order it with the ipod kit built in, they look / work awesome. Sam
  5. So one of my side marker bulbs blew out today and I decided to replace both with LEDs (194s)... All went well with the install and bulbs work/look great but now I get a system indicator that reads "Check Left Marker Light" & "Check Right Marker Light". Are these different voltage/amperage that the system thinks there are no bulbs installed? That is all I can think of, because I have swapped bulbs with regular bulbs before and never got this message. Thanks Sam
  6. the price was 2600€ = +/- $3500, including the pilot sport cup tires. (a good business case !!) The wheels were coming from germany (europe) from a guy which was racing on the Nurburgring racing track. Regards, Chris. Just a note that this must have been off a regular GT3 and not an RS version since I think the offset/tire size on the RS are larger due to the wide-body. Do you have 295s on the back or 305s? Sam
  7. yes, per Loren... You will need a new optical wire (you're not tapping into anything)... the wire attaches to the optical end ocming out of your PCM which is already in the luggage compartment. I had to unmount the ABS or Powerbreak assembly in front of that wire to ease the process, after that the rest took less than 30 minutes to complete... Just make sure you have all the pieces, I can give you all the part numbers you need if interested. Sam
  8. Thank you again for your contribution. Sport exhaust for MY05-08 997-1 997.044.200.02 replaced 997.044.200.01 and 997.044.200.03 replaces both. So, 997.044.200.03 is the current part number. Any difference between the 3 numbers? I just purchased the 02 for my car and got a pretty good deal on it (am I allowed to post prices?) I got it from an OPC down in Jersey and it is getting shipped to me this week. Comes with Mufflers L/R, PSE tips and wiring. I've been trying to contact the guys at "suncoast" but they're giving me a bit of trouble, not providing me quotes unless I sign a CC authorization with them for an amount prior to my order which makes no sense to me. I would love to use them, but the lack of service is changing my mind. Sam
  9. 99704420002 Thanks Loren in advance, sent a portion of my contribution over today as well for all the help Sam
  10. this it out of topic, but are you sure you have a PCM 3 and not a PCM 2? PCM 3 come with the 997-2 MY09 and later I thought... If you have PCM 2, you will not need a code (my battery was weak when I purchased the car). I simply just took the old battery off, replaced with new one, bolted down and all was fine just had to re-set my clock and date.
  11. Hi Joe, Its your lucky day, http://www.wheelenhancement.com/index.php?...tail&id=128 are the ones I got, they are in pretty good shape, replaced the with turbo wheels as I mentioned, here are pics before and after. What I will do is clean the rims and take some high quality photos for you? http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=26761 look under post #5 I had brand new P-Zero Corsas on the rims so I swapped them on to the turbos so it is just the rims in the deal. sounds good? PM me Sam
  12. Got a hold of a slightly used unit which comes with the navunit/mounts/antenna etc the part number on the unit is 997.642.143.03 now from looking around I have found simlar but slightly different unit numbers ie. 997.642.141.10 What is the difference between the part numbers? If I do grab the unit I will have AMP, CD-CHANGER + the nav which comes with the new unit\ :renntech: Thanks Sam
  13. I'm with Rick here... I too have the manual sport seats and HATE it when other's (service center, car wash, etc) move my seat around because its a PAIN getting it back to the optimal position. how I configure my seat is, first as you do I sqeeze the clutch pedal and adjust how far back I want the seat, then (4 & 8 or for me more 3 and 9) on the wheel until my arms are comfortable then I adjust the height on the seat... let go of everything, sit back in move around a bit and re-adjust anything that needs it. I went to my porsche dealer this morning 2.5 hours there and 2.5 back - and I feel rested :) sam
  14. Back from the dealership (also OPS) thought I'd update all of you... My heated seats / homelink issues (not functioning) - fixed by doing the hand-over reset and yes they did charge me $65 to do this Got my oil change done as well as full break flush (2-year in-service date). As far as the CD, they could NOT get it out... $2,770 + 1.5 hours of labour for a new unit to go in. What a disaster... I tried prying it out again yesterday with a plastic hotel room key and I can get under the cd okay but cannot lift it up to get it out... I spoke to a few techies at porsche and they said best would be to remove the unit from the vehicle, open it up and try to remedy the issue that way... I dont know what I can do now, I can get a used unit off ebay for around $1500 but is that the best route to go? I would like to keep it factory. besides this issue (not really an issue with the vehicle) the car is PERFECT, with only 25kmiles on it
  15. Would be nice if I had warranty left on the car, I have an appointment with my porsche dealer tomorrow morning to try and get it out... the service gentleman on thephone however did mention that, if they can't it'll be a costly replacement! I've had the car for a month Thursday... :( and my warranty was up the day before I purchased it (Apr 30) my heated seats and homelink do not work either so they're doing a PIWIS hand-over reset for me tomorrow as well and changing the oil
  16. Where can I get some prices on the X51 kit? would be interested to get this done at the same time as my exhaust upgrade
  17. I have a related question...does anyone know if these will fit on a 99 996? Does anyone have any OEMs for sale? Thanks! Can you find pictures of the rims you're after? I just took a set off my 997 and will sell them if they're what you're looking for. I put turbo rims on. Sam
  18. That is perfect, then I can actually spend time on the new block to cut out a 4th section. I just want it to have the "sport exhaust" button, I doubt that comes by itself so it would be the one with: wing, shocks, sport exhaust and PSM off button. I jsut want to make sure the third button mentioned is the one with the image of exhaust tips and not the 'sport' button. Thanks Loren Sam
  19. Hello, In reference to my post 'exhaust dilemma' I want to know if there is a lower dashboard panel that can fit 5 switches (4 on the left and 1 on the right) as opposed to the 4 switches I currently have. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=26831 <- I have a picture of what I want the end result to look like here. and need the part # for the sport exhaust switch (the one with the exhaust picture on it and not the sport). Sam
  20. Not sure about the warranty. Price for a fully loaded 05 C2S will be between hight 40s and high 50s depending on the mileage. Sam
  21. AP, a week ago is correct, that was my oversight, no need to pick me apart here thought, we're all trying to help eachother... This is what I propose, if its doable and I can get the switch and the panel cut-out for a 5th button: let me know what you think. Loren, is there a part number for that exhaust switch? Sam
  22. Beg to differ. In this case the factory implementation of PSE via the Sports Chrono was not optimum. In fact I believe they changed the scheme on the new 2009 car to allow the driver to go loud or quiet regardless of the Sports Chrono Mode. Just the way the DIY'rs have done for years . . . . a simple on/off switch. Why not have the sweet sound w/o the suspension harshness and modified throttle mapping S/W algorithm. are you saying do NOT hook it up like factory does to the "SPORT" button?
  23. haha, sorry not laughing at you, but the same thing happened to me! you have the wrong size battery! the one you got is slightly wider than your old one, so you need to get a replacement of the correct size and your issue will be no more :) remove the battery and you'll see a second hole appx an inch to the inside of the non-threaded hole Sam
  24. answering my own question :P The party is the power breaks, it is held to the chasis by two torx screws. Simply unscrew, nudge it around with a bit of force and the piece comes undone and will provide ample room to re-route the wire behind. Everything worked out GREAT, super easy install... and guess what after all the wiring was done and went to check to make sure the PCM/radio was still working okay, press the CD button, regular CD okay, press again and the CD I had loaded on to the changer starts playing!! so I guess this was pre-programmed... no need to spend $65 for the PIWIS write! if anybody is planning on adding on a changer, go for it. I'm all in it @ $600! Sam
