  1. I'm sorry, I thought you were referring to a 912.
  2. Over the years I have done it both ways. I you are youg and bend well it can be done in the car. I you are not that bendable and you want to really clean the engine, pull it. A 912 is not that big a deal to pull. Over the years I have probably pulled 20-25 of the little devils. Those and 356s. Never a 911, I didn't want to get into all of the specialized tools required for the 911.
  3. Actually, I've never had the pleasure, But in retrospect I also don't have to put up with the weather that some of our fellow enthusiasts do.
  4. In my'05 c4, I start it and as soon as I have oil pressure i start driving. I don't exceed 3k until the oil temp starts moving and I don't exceed 4500 or get on it until I have full temp. I think all auto mfrs. do not recommend idling to warm up a car. I don't live in an area that gets below 0 f perhaps in really cold weather maybe 1 minute of idle. Just my humble opinion.
  5. If they are on at 300+ ft/lb, they come off at twice or more. I used to take the flywheel off of 356 and 912, which have a single flywheel bolt with a 3/4 drive " sliding t-bar" and a 6 ft pip. They are available at Sears at a very reasonable price. They are virtually indestructible.
  6. I recommend going to Excellence the magazine on the web, there is a 16 part series on the restoration and mods of a 914.
  7. I also Chevron exclusively, I have the same problem on occasion. It seems more related to the the individual pump/nozzle. I pump by hand rather the auto fill lever and I think that at least in CA, the nozzles are over sensitive frequently. My previous car a Lexus. had less frequent probs but still had the prob.
  8. Sorry I don't have an answer, Just wanted to say that is a beautiful car. Are those center-lock wheels? Mike
  9. 356A at 24, 356B at 26, 9142.0 at 48, '06 c4 at 68.
  10. I know in my "06 C4 I used the hot side of unused fuse slots for my Garmin and Radar detector. The wires might be routed in the space at the top and sides of the windshield. At least that's where I routed mine.
  11. I have the same problem with my '06 c4. I read somewhere it has something to do with ackerman in the steering geometry. I know about as much about ackerman as I do the infield fly rule. I'm going to the dealer for an oil change soon and if they have any answers, I'll post their answer.
  12. O.K., first I admit to being dumber than a box of rocks! I have searched all 36 pages of 997-1 items and still cannot figure out how to r&r my pollen filter. 2006 c4 with cd changer, no navi. Pics would help this poor dummy. If there is a a reference url, please let me know. I have found a verbal description but can't make it work. Thanks in advance. Oops wrong area, should be in 997-1. Told you, not smart. Mike
