  1. Yes, after I posted, I noticed what you said about reverse having the same problem too RFM, and I tried what you said and it worked. Thanks for the help!
  2. So this has been an issue ever since I got the car (02 C4S), and it's not a major issue, more irksome really. What happens is this, most times when moving from another gear, or neutral into 1st, I have to sort of force it in. There's no grinding coming from the transmission, it's more like when I'm moving the lever into first, it encounters mechanical resistance that is only overcome by excess force (not a ton more though). If I pull it back into neutral after forcing it in, and then put it back into first, it goes in like butter, no different from any of the other gears. Most often it happens when I'm stopped in neutral and put it in gear to go. I do tend to downshift through all gears to second if I'm coming to a stop (don't usually downshift into first) and I believe I've read on here that this issue or a similar one is solved by not skipping second when coming to a stop which doesn't seem to be working for me. The crunchy 1st gear effect doesn't happen every time either, it happens most times, but there are times when it goes in with no resistance at all. If I am not paying attention and don't give it that extra force, the lever stops halfway from the neutral position to all the way forward and I sit there revving an engine in neutral like a dummy. Particularly obnoxious for me to forget to push it all the way in on hills if you know what I mean... Anyone know what might be wrong and how I might fix it? Also, no SSK, B&M or otherwise, everything is stock. Thanks for any help!
  3. How was the karting? Did you learn a lot? Anyone in the Seattle area know any good places to kart?
  4. Is it just me or does the 18" wheels look even better on the 997s than 19s? I love the sidewall to wheel ratio, seems way more race like!
  5. Is your GT3 here yet? Would love to see some sweet pics!
  6. I love that green, reminds me of the wilder color schemes of the .1RS :)
  7. That looks really nice man, how/where did you smoke the lights and reflector? Mine needs that to really pop! I was afraid to smoke the lights because I didn't want that center reflector to be sitting there bright red.
  8. sorry to hijack but does anyone recommend a particular indy in the seattle area?
  9. If your looking for PSE, I just sprung for them and got them for <$700 (no wiring). The best idea is to get them used from someone who had it as a factory option and was looking for something louder, there seems to be a fair number of people doing that. The sound is way more aggressive but it's not that much louder inside (tire noise still drowns out most of the engine till >3k RPM).
  10. I got it! No rattles of any kind, the owner takes good care of his car and was just upgrading to something louder. I got a great deal <700! Just turning it on and it sounds like a different beast, a louder snarl and more of a growl than a purr. It's like upgrading from a housecat to a panther! It's not obnoxious either. Also no wiring or switch was installed so it's always open, and surprisingly, on the inside, it isn't much louder, only when I'm laying on the gas or rev match downshifting can you really tell from the inside that it has the PSE. Of course with windows down and just cruising around town, it's just like you said Dharn, it has that throatier sound. I love it! Subtle yet spicy! Thanks for all the help and advice guys! Now I'm off to the parking garage to see if I can set off some car alarms : )
  11. Thanks Loren, good to know about those rattles, I'm not the most mechanically inclined tool in the shed, wouldn't have even thought of that.
  12. is the fisterD mod the one with that short bypass pipe welded in? How does the sound stack up against the PSE? Loren, should I be checking for these rattles before or after it's installed?
  13. I have an opportunity to buy a used pse for my 02 C4s. It came off a c4s, should I do it for 1000 (plus install) or what's a reasonable price for a used PSE?
  14. Thanks guys! I have to try this for sure. Does the schnell CAI run an oiled filter, how reliable are they (MAF issues)? And does it make a noticeable sound difference? Even subtle changes are welcome!
  15. Hey guys, got an 02 C4s (no PSE) and I'm wondering what I can do to spice up the sound of that beautiful flat 6. It's not a major priority now so I'm only allocating 1k to the project, and would prefer something that didn't destroy my MAF or what not, so does anyone have any tips on what is reliable and cheap and makes the car a bit louder?
  16. I have an 02 C4S and it when it turns of, after the engine shuts off, you can hear this sort of winding down sound for a second or two, it's similar to the sound that happens in movies whenever someone shuts some big machine off, like a slow power down or something. It's not a bad sound (it actually sounds kinda cool) but I've never heard it in any of my other (non-porsche) cars so I was interested in what you guys think makes that sound.
  17. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but does anyone know if the 5mm socket works for the MY02 C4S with the xenon headlights? I don't have one long enough and would like to confirm before I order one
  18. Thanks for the link orlando guy. I'll check the fuses, but it's not squirting back out, it's just stopping, like it's full. I will definitely check the fuses though!
  19. The headlight adjustment procedure is in your Owners Manual. Thanks Loren!
  20. When I pump gas on my 02 c4s, the pump is stopping way too early like it's already full; it only took 8 gallons in a supposedly empty tank. If i pretend like i'm topping it off and try pumping again, it gives me another 1 to 2 gallons, so I don't think it's a problem with the fuel gauge. I have to repump 3 or 4 times to get a full tank. It's happened at shell and costco, once each over the past two days. Any ideas why this might be?
  21. while we're on the topic, my 02 C4S with the xenon headlights seems to not illuminate far enough down the road, but it's plenty bright, it's as if it's angled too far down, is there a way to adjust this? (sorry if i'm jacking this thread)
  22. Thanks for the really clear pictures richard, my porsche doesn't have that sticker... alas... is there anyway to get another copy of the original window sticker?
  23. So.... everyone keeps talking about option codes and that they're located under the hood and in the service manual. Don't have a service manual and I can't find this thing under the hood, where am I not looking? I searched on the forums for the answer to this rather lame question but I pulled up 23 pages of results... Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
