  1. I finally found and emptied the water drains !!! No more water sloshing noises. This is what I did. 1. I dropped under my cayenne and looked up at the driver side under sill (between the doors) near the outer edge (less than 20cm from outer edge) of the car. 2. Look for the "water drain valve" as shown in the diagram below. it is black and 40mm in diameter. 2a. There is one each towards the front of the car on each side of the under sill. Two in total. 2b. Squeeze it out carefully. Lots of water came out of the hole for this one on the driver side (UK is right hand side). 2c. There are four parts (including the rubber-ring) to it. Be very careful not to loose its two small parts (valve and its holder)! Separate them out and clean out the filth, hard wax (collected after hot car wax washes, etc). You may want to stick in your finger or a pipe-cleaner to clean out the accumulated dirt in that hole. 2d. Softly peel back the outer rim and Re-fit them back into the hole. The outer cover should fall back in nicely like before it was taken out. 2e.Make sure the hole is pointing towards back of the car. You don't want the hole clogged up with mud when the wheel spins. If done properly, you will enjoy the sight of water trickling down onto the garage floor. Done! Note: If you lose one, don't worry, Look at the bottom right edge of the tailgate and you will found one there. Its not a spare but at least you can use it till you get a replacement. 3. Along the under sill, you will find these 'stoppers" as shown here. There are two on each side. Four in total for both sides. They are black and 40mm in diameter. 3a. These stoppers are spaced at the mid and rear section of the under sill. Not hard to find. 3b. Squeeze them out like in Step 2b. Lots of water came out from the holes for my case. 3c. There are two parts (including rubber ring) to it. No valves or opening at all. I don't recommend making a hole in them. Mud or debris kicked in from the surface during car use might clot up the hole and causing more trouble than it should. 3d. Clean it. Softly peel back the outer rim and Re-fit them back. The outer cover should fall back in nicely like before it was taken out. I hope you find this guide useful. May it help you save some money with some fun simple DIY. Cheers!

  3. I have actually adapted the instructions (I translated it from German to English) found on maxcount.de. What I did was to install everything into the glove compartment. Now it's so simple to access the Gateway 500 unit itself.
  4. The wiring to the speakers are relayed to the new head unit. The CDR23 unit is concealed and plugged in underneath the dash. I left it there so nothing is left unplugged and I don't receive any error codes... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What do you mean by 'relayed to the new head unit'? The speaker cables at the CDR23 are standard copper/RCA connectors or looks something like optical fibers connected? If I understand you correctly ... there are no longer any speaker cables connected to the CDR23 head unit but only to the Alpine head unit? Do you have any pictures you can post here?
  5. What do you do with the wiring to the speakers?? When you remove the CDR23, are the speakers connected by copper wires/RCA to theCDR23? And are the speakers connected to the MOST bus in anyway? Or are they just connected via standard copper wires?
  6. Hiding the head unit under the passenger seat would need some form of visual interface to the head unit. Hmmmm ... didn't someone on this forum who managed to hack into the display on the instrument panel??? There's an idea!! Why not pipe the visual info from the head unit into the instrument panel?? A lot of work but it will be interesting. Another thing ... I can't seem to find any MOST-enabled amplifiers or head units in the market? Alpine, Kenwood among others are members of the MOST cooperation though. Can anyone confirm that the speakers in the Cayenne are NOT POF (Plastic Optic Fiber) connected, ie they are copper connected? Looking at the Cayenne manual, the part of the BOSE speaker, tells me they are standard copper connected. If thats the case then I can at least install a couple of 'standard' amplifiers between the PCM and some upgraded speakers. Or between the second head unit and the speakers.
  7. I have been thinking how I can install a second head unit in addition to the PCM. Reason being I am tired of waiting to get a Denison or Neo Ipod interface to the MOST bus. And also I can add in DAB and a couple of Amplifiers to give muscle to the audio. Maybe some DVD units as well. And also the audio performance should be much better. Does anyone have similar ideas or know how I get this going? Possible locations of second head unit: 1. where the ashtray is, 2. passenger sidewell; 3. centre console box 4. below passenger seat. I prefer it to be where the ashtray is for convenience of access and asthetics. Any tots?
  8. I bought some LEDs to replace the rear lights. From www.superbrightleds.com. I looked at the manual to take out the rear lights. Pretty simple. Took out the two holding screws. Easy. The hard part is to take out the entire rear light assembly, as manual says. But the thing is pretty hard to come off. I tried to use more force but it would not budge. Anyone knows how to take it out without any damage???
  9. IMHO, this is the best xenon fog light bulbs ever. I had them installed on my previous BMW M3 and they are what they advertised. They look great too. I ordered the same H11 fog light bulbs from this guy and installed them in my Cayenne. They work and they look marvellous. Esp when they look blue on the fog lifht housing when off and AWESOME when on. http://www.bmwxenon.com/

  11. Does anyone have any instructions on how to install an iPod directly into the MOST data bus of Cayenne with PCM? Porsche's MOST data bus is fiber-optic based. I found that Neo Ion is taking future orders for a solution fit. But is there any other solution?
