  1. I've just about to replace an engine mount on my Boxster S and one of my symptoms is a difficult gear change. I had a mount perish on my Volvo S60 and replacing it was liking getting a new gear selector!
  2. Had it up on a ramp today and as suspected, the front engine mount was completely fubar. Thanks all!
  3. ...OK. I see that...but then what happens when the roof's down? (Sorry, sounds like a dumb question!)
  4. Chris, where would you mount the V1 itself - is it possible to conceal it?
  5. Thanks All - The car's a 02 986S with 114K now, so most things will start to perish :) Will definitely check the mount tomorrow - but would/should it manifest itself in other ways, such as should you be able to feel it when dipping on and off the throttle?
  6. As the top says, coming through the wheel and through the 'back-end' under hard acceleration. I presume it's a matter of elimination, but my questions: -Could bad alignment cause this? -Could a worn rubber bush in a suspension component? The wheels have recently been balanced, so not an issue when keeping a constant speed. Cheers
  7. Awesome set up. I'm about to upgrade too - although can't quite stretch to that Focal range. Will be looking lower down the range, along with DLS too - but for me a silk, rather than metal tweeter is vital! Thanks for sharing
  8. One's easy - it's a Nokia hands-free mic. The other...DRL hack?
  9. Thanks Rick - but what search parameters did you use? Hi 'TheRock' - '02 986s as per my sig...or am I missing something?
  10. Hi I'm looking to replace the dash-top speakers and have been told that 2" is the max depth. Sorry to be picky, but are we talking exactly 2"? The reason I ask is the speakers I have in mind say" Installation depth : 60 mm ( 2")" - which is actually over 2" in my book! I don't want to buy them and then find out they're too tall, So I'd really appreciate it if you can let me know what speakers you've used (and I'll research the depths) and any experiences with speakers that haven't fitted? Cheers
  11. I went for the OEM look and managed to track down a Becker Traffic Pro: Next will be upgrading the speakers with Focal 6.5", 4" and tweets and a decent 4 channel Soundstream or Genesis amp. Will also be replacing the CD Changer with Solisto Ipod /USB stick player very shortly.
  12. Apologies if this has been covered, but I searched for 'flap', 'deflector' etc. I'm talking about those little flaps that sit in front of the front wheels, from the front of the wheel arch: What do they do and what would happen if I remove them? The reason I ask is that I'm about to get some after market splitters which would require the removal of them - and having noticed them on practically every Porsche in my local dealers today, I'm wondering if this is a wise move. Cheers
  13. This one has my local Porsche Dealer stuck! I'm after the lead that plugs into the little white two-pin molex connector and then attaches to the heated element lugs on a heated glass screen. Any ideas? really need to get this ordered ASAP! Cheers
  14. Sorted! Part number is 996.652.103.00 A01 - comes with the Socket and the plug - but the plug fits straight in. £4 and a perfect match! - I'm happy
  15. Agreed - Awesome amount of work and I love the way you've totally integrated the the side panel. However, it does limit passenger space surely? Would there have been a way of doing the same thing with the two lower storage trays (especially as the CD storage is now redundant?) I would also slim it way down if you could - it seems to be way too big in terms of the surrounds for what it's actually supporting. And as final idea...maybe hinge it? Just some ideas, but as has already been said, it looks brilliant. Thanks for sharing.
  16. I made sure the rolling radius was the same when I swapped tyres. Those were standard 17's on a UK-spec 987, I just sprayed them black. For track work, I would have thought smaller wheels are better - if 16's would've fitted over the calipers, I would have used those.
  17. I thought that would only work with post '03 cars with far more fancy electronics?
  18. Curious as to why 18's? I've bought a set of 17" 997 wheels for track work...the rubber is darn sight cheaper!
  19. Sounds faulty to me Dave - I have an '01 and have just done the same. If I'm super-critical, I get added interference on FM when on, but that's it. Cheers
  20. Hi all - can anyone help - Was there a 'no-smoking' option on the 996 that kept the 12v socket but got rid of teh lighter? In which case, what filled the hole? I have an '01 986S and have somehow lost the lighter - and seeing as I don't smoke, it's not a biggie :) Cheers
