  1. I am not very familiar with 911 but this happened to my ML and had it checked it was the the front ball joints. Maybe have it checked even with a local garage.
  2. Might want to check other forums like www.6speedonline.com where they have discussed these extensively and comparison as well between EVO and TPC kit
  3. thanks boxtermao. with regards to your brake problem as Loren said if the brake has not been serviced for a while then it needs to be. There is a DIY for brake flush maybe on this site or try other porsche site.
  4. Hey Boxstermao, Also a Filipino here. sticky brakes has you car been on flood, I know it's been raining in manila lately. Hey how much is 911 C4 there. wanted to ship my 2001C4 but if cost is same if I buy there then I just do it there next year
  5. Dealership said 9.5 hours for RMS and 7 hours for valve cover leak. Do you think I should go ahead and pay the difference. the next closest dealership/service center is about 3 1/2 hours from my place. I have a platinum coverage and should not pay for any repairs except for regular maintenance and now I will be out by about $700-800. I feel that I should go through this dilemna that is the reason I got the aftermarket warranty but I am in this situation now.
  6. I have a 2001 C4 6 speed that was determined to have RMS leak and valve cover leak. determined by dealership. I have an aftermarket warranty of which dealership submitted the quote. They cannot agree on the labor time. Dealership charges 16.5 hours or units while warranty co. says only 11.5 hours for both repairs. they both use they say Mitchel? book for the labor time. Does anybody know which one is it or does porsche have an exclusive mitchel book ? TIA
  7. As Loren said buyer beware, I have VPC as my aftermarket warranty and paid $2750 w/ $100 deductible for 4 year 40,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. My 2001 C4 has RMS leak as well as head gasket leak and brought to the dealership who diagnosed it. Co. would not authorize the whole service for they want the service charge to be $60/hr while the dealership charges $85/hr. They want me to pay the difference. DEalership even told me that even have the nerve to ask if the dealership gives discount. I shop around on other dealership of which the nearest is 3 1/2 hours from me and they even charge $110/hr. I could have easily paid the difference but I could just take it as I paid them and never asked for discount for the warranty.
  8. The dreaded RMS issue :( I brought my C4 for a 30,000 mile service to the dealership and found out that I have both RMS leak and valve cover seal leak. B'coz I have a 3rd party warranty (VPC) I told them to repair whatever the problem. They called me back and told that the aftermarket warranty co. will not pay for the labor time and rate that they have from their work book. Dealership is asking 9.5 hours for r&r of RMS at a rate of $85/hr while the warranty co. wants them to lower it down to 6.5 hours at $65/hr. SA even told me that VPC even asked from them if they offer discount coupons :cursing: I was really pissed off b'coz i have to deal with this and called the VPC that they did'nt offer me discount when I paid for the warranty which is a bumper to bumper warranty. Now I am trying to look for a service shop here in west virginia of which the only Porsche approved shop is the only dealership in whole state( the one that I ussually go) The next porsche dealership is about 250 miles away. Now the question what is really the labor time & rate for the above service and how much is the MSRP for the parts b'coz that is what warranty co. wants to pay only. please help :help:
  9. I do not know what you mean by gravel guard kit but what I have on my C4 is called a clear bra made by 3M. it protects the paint finish from rock chips. some have done it DIY but the curves especially the bumper is a little bit difficult so i have it professionally installed for $ 630 that is the bumper + part of hood + both side mirror as well as the back side of front fenders just behind the wheel wells. I thinks this has been discussed here before
  10. I have a 2001 C4 coupe and I have an 18 month old baby girl. Since she was 5 mos. old, I have use the Britax Roundabout and it fits very well with space to spare for my wife riding in front seat.
  11. Thanks Loren, I will try to call them and ask if they have the owner's manual
  12. Does anyone know where I can get hold of an owner's manual for 2001 C4 coupe six speed manual trans. I looked all over ebay as well called LA porsche dismantlers but no luck. Looked at the download portion of the forum but no luck. I bought my car as used car but when it was delivered no manual, dealership from where I bought it said they will look for it but it has been almost 10 mos they don't even remember me. So  please help.
  13. Thanks to Loren, always reliable. Although the car is running smoothly I still filled the tank and added the HEET solution. Thanks again
  14. If the gas did not freeze, could it be there was some water on the fuel line? Today it was 20 deg no problem with starting the car. Has anyone have this problem in the past or this winter? Need help, worried that I might do damage to the engine
  15. I have 2001 C4S coupe, manual trans. this morning it was 3 degrees cold. I tried to start the car but it was a hard start. It took about 2 minutes of trying till the engine fired. there was black smoke that came out. when the car started and warmed up there was no problem engine was running smooth. I haven't used the car for about 3 days. It has 1/2 full fuel tank. this was the first time it happened but it wasn't this cold as well. Has anyone have this problem on cold weather start? could it be a frozen fuel line? I always use 93 octane ( west Virginia). If this was a fuel line freeze is there anything that you can add to the fuel to prevent freeze?TIA
  16. Looks like it is coming from the side where the spark plugs are. Almost looks like what I had before. brought it to the dealer and they changed the spark plug o-ring. Also thought it was the RMS because I also hade oil near the tranny. now after the o-ring change and the engine and tranny cleaned, don't see any oil/gunk build-up. It was a $ 500 + trip to the dealer but as you said you still have warranty so it will not be a problem.
  17. I have a 2001 C 4 and the headlight washer nozzle has been leaking. As per Loren instructions I checked the washer pump as well as the line but no leak. It was only on the nozzle that was leaking. I went to the dealer to have it check and they said I have to replace the nozzle. Parts price is ok but the labor will cost an arm and a leg, so I throw the question to you gus, how to replace the Right Headlight washer Nozzle. Thanks in advance.
  18. Hey Karlooz, I have seen your calipers painted red. How did you do it? what kind of paint and where can I buy it and how much? how did you do the decal? a lot of question but I want to do the same with my calipers. Thanks
  19. Thanks Loren, anyway I checked the nozzle and both are working but the right side of the headlight washer nozzle is leaking at the nozzle. What do you recommend? Changing the washer pump? How do you change it? TIA
  20. I filled up my windshield washer reservoir last week as the light came on on my instrument panel. Yesterday the light came on again. I did not use that much of windshield washer to consume that much. I filled it up again this morning to see if there is any leakage. I saw that the fluid is slowly leaking/seeping out of the headlight washer on the Right. Fluid trickle out of the nozzle of the washer even if the washer was not on. Has anybody had this problem before and what was done to fix it? Thanks in advance for your help. I do not want to bring the car to the dealership as i was " rape" recently ( I think) by the dealership when I brought my car for an oil leak which was the Spark plug O-ring, they charge me $ 650 for this repair where the parts was only about $ 200( o-rings was $3.98 each x6, spark plugs $ 14.95 x 6) and the rest was labor ( 4 or 4.5 hours). They told me that porsche recommends changing the plugs at 30,000 miles. from what i have read on this forum it is not true, is it?
  21. Oops! I'm sorry didn't realise that you mentioned it was done under warranty. Anybody knows how much usually this repair runs including parts if it was done outside of warranty so that I can compare to what the SA told me. At this actually, the car is in the dealership and will pick-up either tomorrow.
  22. SA told me that the parts run about $ 100 and the rest is for labor charges. He says it takes 5 hours to do the job. How much did you pay LVDell
  23. I think I have the same problem. I took my 2001 C4 yesterday because of a leak on the same spot you have( thanks for this thread).I was told it was the O-rings that protects the spark plugs from oil. Anyway I was qouted $ 527 for parts and labor for the six rubber o-rings. While they are on the spark plugs to check for it if it needs replacement. I have 24,900 miles on my car and was told by the SA that porsche recommends 30,000 mile for spark plug change, Is this true? Is $ 527 just right for the job and parts? I told SA if that porsche recommneds 30,000 miles for spark plug change that to change it now as i was only 5,000 miles off and save me on labor charges as well as another trip to the dealership which is about 120 miles from my place. 30,000 miles interval for spark plug? is'nt it a little bit frequent. I have a ML 430 and mercedes told me 80,000 to 100,000 miles for a spark plug change( 16 of them, ouch). and you know how much porsche sells their OEM 4 + spark plugs- $15 each. cross check it with Bosch 4+($5.99 each) and came back as not recommended. I told SA to put the OEM porsche spark plugs( $90) What do you think guys? was it a steal(bargain) :) or steal(stollen) <_<
  24. Thanks. I will try and relocate the climate control this weekend.
