  1. Could have bought the same thing on Ebay for $100..... saving you $400. Everyone will turn around to look at you. I have put them on two separate occasions and tell myself both times I will never put them back on; take it however!
  2. hello again. I have a 99 996 C4 3.4 E-gas with only 38000 miles. I hooked up my car and was given these codes: P1219-Accelerator Pedal – Signal Implausible P1577-Accelerator Pedal Potentiometer P1578-Accelerator Pedal Potentiometer 2 The car would take about 3 secs. with the throttle mashed to the floor for anything to happen; then it happens very slowly. I have posted on here before about the same problem, however, before I retrieved any codes. I received these codes from a shop (Orbit Racing) and the they told me they never heard of a "Accelerator Potentiometer". Followed by, we will research it and get back to you on what it is and how much it would cost to fix. Well, They came back and told me that it is the "Throttle Sensor" and the part would cost $600.00 and with everything installed..... $890.23 Therefore, my question is: does this sound right? Furthermore, isn't the throttle sensor the sensor above the throttle pedal that has the throttle cable going to it; if so, would that be easy to replace myself? I google throttle sensor and it brings up the sensors for $102.00 is this the same? I greatly appreciate any help! Thanks!
  3. Best value for the money is the Durametric Software, IMO. You can spend less by getting a "code reader" such as those made by Actron, for less than $100. Durametric has many advantages and is the only tool besides the factory PST2 and PIWIS that can reset an airbag light. Go to durametric.com for details. Great support from Duram, the guy who runs Durametric. No affiliation, just a satisfied user for three years now. Regards, Maurice. 100% appreciate it Maurice
  4. Im new to this forum and have found that y'all throw out these codes all the time. Where do I get one of these testers and how much should I be spending? Thanks!
  5. Thanks for your help. Im taking it to Orbit Racing in Rivera Beach FL next monday. Hope this isnt expensive!!!! If anyone else has anything else to try... PLEASE, let me know
  6. brake lights work. throttle body wasnt dirty but still removed and cleaned. I even took the plastic house off the gears to make sure they were not binding up. all were clean and when manually turned... rotated smoothly. I tried resetting the battery again (20 mins) and tried to start the car with the PSM/ABS fuse pulled. Of course the PSM light did not light up on the dash, however, the ABS still did. When I had my girlfriend step on the gas I noticed the throttle body, again, hesitating along with it chattering as it was opening. Again, only opening 1/2 way at full throttle. Could I need the ECU reflashed or a new throttle body. I dont understand as to why the PSM/ABS lights are associated with the TB not working.??????????? :(
  7. I bought from wheelenhancement.com about two years ago. I researched for about 6 months and checked pricing. THese guys were friendly, the cheapest, and specialized in Porsche; could give you all the correct offset etc to fit correctly and give you the look you want. I believe the gentleman's name was Alan that I spoke to
  8. my 996 was doing this and it was the front truck was not fully closed. reopened and shut by firmly pressing on the porsche crest. problem was resolved.
  9. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have a 3.4L 996 C4 w/ e-gas I was driving yesterday and my PSM/ABS lights came on (brakes are worn, but still have meat; no break wear light yet) However, when this happened there was no throttle response. If I floored the car nothing would happen for about 3 seconds then the car would gradually accelerate. I pulled over and took off my intake going to the throttle body. I heard a high pitch noise coming from the throttle body; like the motor was trying to adjust the positioning. I had a friend jump in the car and floor the pedal..... the throttle body would very slowly begin to open then speed up some, however, only opening about 25% of the way. I tried resetting the battery and unplugging the clip form the e-gas throttle body and reconnecting to make sure it was making contact. On the third time, this resolved the problem and I took the car for a mile drive. everything was fine. I turned the car off, then restart to leave. At this time, the lights came back on and the problem with the throttle body came back. Any Help? Greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
