  1. Thanks Chuckman, well P0455 is for a large leak and the P0244 is for a minor leak (like the gas cap) so i'm assuming when he put the hose back he tightened it a bit more so the leak code changed to P0244. I have visually checked my pump for any oil leaks or signs that the seal of the pump is worn, but it looks really clean... not sure if i should undergo the process of changing it only for the light to pop up again... i've already invested more than 1000$ in what looks like a witch hunt, to the point where my wife is like leave it i don't care if it goes away or not anymore (it's my wife's car)... but you can see it still bothers me a lot everytime i jump in her car lol
  2. Hi Chuckman, smoke test showed no leaks, so far i have changed the gas cap, leak detection pump, purge valve and CEL still came back on...
  3. Loren any chance of getting the PET diagram for the tank vent valve 955 605 241 00 ? I have checked everywhere online and can't find a single PET diagram to see where this part is. i went to sunset porsche and they printed out the diagram for the V6 engine, and he couldn't get me a diagram for the 4.8L V8. Thanks in advance
  4. 2009 cayenne S (US spec) with 74k miles on the clock. Check engine light on with code P0455 (evaporative emission system leak - large leak detected). Picture attached i took it to a shop to do a smoke test, they found no external leaks. They tested the tank vent valve and leak detection pump and it failed twice. (Pic attached) so i changed the leak detection pump (95560510702), found that the one installed was a chinese brand not oem, drove the car for two days then the light came back again! Same error code. next step i want to change the tank vent valve (95560524101), is that the same as the purge valve? i found some DIY for an 03 -06 TT but not sure if it's the same for my 09 cayenne S. i can't find any diagram online on where the valve location is. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
  5. Gents need your feedback please: Bought a 2009 cayenne S (US spec) with 74k miles on the clock. It had the check engine light on with code P0455 (evaporative emission system leak - large leak detected). Same error code. my car starts perfect when i fill up the tank, i was considering still changing the purge valve , is that the same as the tank vent valve? dunno where else to look, my fuel cap is updated and the smoke test would've shown it to leak if it was faulty... any feedback is appreciated
  6. American spec Car WP1AB29P39LA40478 I recently moved to florida i will update my avatar to reflect that, i am no longer living in dubai
  7. can someone give me the part number for item 20? the tank vent valve?
  8. checking to see if this petition held up... that would be awesome
  9. thanks guys! will start digging into this properly and update you how it goes.
  10. Hello Everyone, I'd like to ask if anyone has imported a porsche from outside the US into florida? I'm moving to the USA in October and considering shipping my 2003 996 C4S GCC Spec (gulf cooperation council). the car is bone stock except for the fabspeed muffler bypass pipes (still have original exhaust). will the car pass emission / registration tests in florida? is there anything i should be aware off or it's simply handling the shipping documents and then registering the car? Any help is appreciated. Many thanks!
  11. Exactly my thoughts when i saw the cracked block... i found a front accident 04 C4S in a scrap yard with an engine that has 18,000 KM on the odo.... snapped it on the spot for approx 5,500USD (block only)
  12. An update regarding the problem with my engine. attached is a photo of the cracked engine block. the block was completely cracked throughout the middle. I have no idea what might've led to this, I have since sourced an engine and fitted it into my car. the car is happily back on the road. thinking of dismantling the old block to see exactly what went wrong, any good DIY on how to tear down the block? Thanks, Nehme
  13. Thanks Ahsai, unfortunately it's been confirmed today, after flushing out all the coolant and replacing it with new oil the engine does not turn maually ...
  14. Thanks Mcbit500... the car is at Alex renner motors (ARM) at the moment, he's still waiting on my decision whether to go ahead and investigate the failure or not... honestly if the most likely scenario is that i have to scrap my engine, i prefer not to investigate where the failure happened and pay 4,500 AED (1,226$)... According to ARM to fix a blown/cracked cylinder head will cost me around 65,000 (17,687$) to 75,000 AED (20,000$) ! A brand new engine from dealer will cost 144,000 AED (39,000$)... it's such a dilemma especially when i love this car (2nd owner since new) and have driven it for over 100,000 KM in 5 years with no major issues at all...
  15. Hi, 2003 996 C4S 146,000KM on the clock. i haven't driven my car much this past year, only 4,000KM (2,500 Miles). I always maintain my car properly and change oil religiously... while driving with the Porsche club, and without no temperature rise, i heard an explosion in the engine bay, the car stalled and the whole dashboard lit up. when i opened the engine bay, coolant was all over the place... photos from the independent workshop show that the oil reservoir is filled with coolant... Hydrolock is suspected with all possible scenarios being gloomy... would appreciate your input on previous similar experiences... could it be only a failed AOS and not a cracked head or engine block?? the workshop will charge me around 1,300$ for investigating the problem, which will not be charged if i decide to go ahead with a top end rebuild or whatever the diagnosis is... Is it worth investigating now, or i can leave the car parked for a while without any consequences? Is the coolant inside the engine bay terrible in the long run? would it be impossible to clean out if left inside? thanks, Nehme
  16. I just bought a pre-owned 2013 boxster S, 14,000 KM on the clock. I ran it on my diagnostic scanner and got these two fault codes, any one has an idea what they are? C13038 C13065 Many thanks!
  17. I know this topic has been discussed a lot and in many forums, but i would like to ask if anyone has experience with Castrol 10w60 sports edge on an air cooled engine? I Live in Dubai where temperatures reach 130F in the summer, i always use 10W60 on my 996 C4S as i found it to be the most durable and protective oil for my 996, the mobil 1 0w40 and 5w40 is just too thin for this hot weather and burns very quickly... now for my newly acquired 1997 993 targa, is it safe to assume 10w60 is also a good fit? or would that affect the hydraulic lifters on cold start-ups? many thanks!
  18. 2003 C4S 142,000 KM lifted the car yesterday and noticed that the oil sump has some sort of moisture on it and part of the sump is broken/damaged. i attached a couple of pictures, not sure if it is leaking because i didn't notice any oil traces in the garage, can i live with this or do i need to change the oil sump? thanks, Nehme
  19. 2003 C4S 142,000 KM. i have one of the fuel lines linked to the top of the fuel tank leaking fuel... i recieved an estimate for changing the fuel line which is very expensive due to the fact that suspension has to be removed, etc... the shop is also saying i need to replace the fuel level sender/gauge after installing the fuel line becuase it is almost certain that i goes faulty after being dis-assembled... is that truely the case? or the same one can be used again? thanks, Nehme
