  1. got it. thanks. did it and done Hi Loren, I too cannot use paypal, and when i login to the credit card payment page i am not taken to a secure page, my browser gives me a warning that information can be viewed by third party, and the SSL Authentication cert does not show a secure connection. i'm using my home internet connection and not on a public network... thanks for the help.
  2. Well here are the final lap times: My C4S 2:54.63 Mini Cooper Works 2:48.82 i was beaten by 6 seconds... i'm not very disappointed noting he knew the track like the back side of his hand... important part is i loved every corner i tackled with my car, and i must highlight i was being careful by braking early and not very hard, and by not notching the gears too fast....
  3. As tanny has said, if you want the engine pan to be perfectly level, then by all means, do run the front wheels up as well. I don't worry about that. Regarding looking for debris, I think the most important thing to look for would be debris caused by a failng IMS bearing, not the RMS. When you get out the old oil filter, carefully cut it open along the long axis and examine the interior for metal debris. Better yet, get an oil analysis as I do. I send a sample of my oil at regular intervals for a complete chemical analysis to see if anything that should not be in the oil is present. I have been using Blackstone Labs (Ft. Wayne, IN ) to do this for years and have been very satisfied with the results. They will tell you what the significance of each level of elements is that they analyze for. From this one can infer problems from oil-water mixing to failing bearings. If you do this regularly, you can spot trend lines and anticipate developing problems before a catstrophic engine failure. They supply free sample kits upon request. The price of a standard analysis is now up to $25, but I feel it is worth every cent. (Note: I have no affiliation with Blackstone Labs other than as a satisfied customer.) Good luck. Oil Analysis for Just 25$... that is brilliant!!! wish had similar labs here...
  4. i have the same problem, changed the slave cylinder but the noise came back 2 days later. had it checked up at the dealer, they said it's not a major issue and that they would have to change the pressure plate for that creaking sound to go away. pretty F### expensive to get rid of that sound, so now i'm still trying to live with it. BTW there are many threads about this creaking sound, check em out when you can. cheers.
  5. My friend there is no way you can fix the car for 15,000 SAR (Approx $4,087)... go online, check how much the parts cost, a basic headlamp will set you back $630....
  6. you mean foldable electronically? doubtful... i have a fully loaded C4S, still have to fold the mirros manually.
  7. Very interesting, thanks a lot guys... well here is the link to the track layout. http://www.dubaiautodrome.com/general/trkinfo.aspx it has two long straights which my friend has admitted might be a disadvantage for the mini. anyways the dates are set - 24th september. we'll see what an amatuer driver (Moi) can do against a proper racing driver...
  8. ahlan b kil el libneniye.... Rammi the car has a saudi license plate, and looks like it's been sitting in the dessert for a while, i can't see how a car with Saudi license plate could stay in lebanon for 3 years without moving, the lebanese customs rules are that you have to take the car out of the country every 6 months. and the car can stay a maximum of 2 years then it has to have it's Trip ticket renewed. if you're interested in porsche wrecks like the one in the attached pictures, there's a lot here in dubai and i work with a lot of people who can assess the extent of the damage... Hi Nehme, The car is in saudi arabia. i work in saudi arabia, i travel once a month to lebanon. Don't be afraid of the sand. It is not a problem. The air is so packed with sand I have to wash my car every other day here! I am getting this car, will fix first the mechanic part, then will do the 997 conversion. cheers i was never worried about the sand, i live in the desert too and i also have to wash my car almost everyday... just trying to verify if your initial story is true... anyways looks like you got a lot of cash and patience on hand to spend on this baby... Goodluck and send us some pictures of the repair process... with a costing list if possible to keep track of it ;)

  11. My freind just bought a 2011 mini cooper S john works edition. being a current race driver for the Gulfsport Radical Cup in dubai and the Radical European masters series, he's placing a bet with me that he can beat my 03 C4S around the track. now i'm not a race driver, but i've had my share of track days, and when we went karting a couple of time he was around 5 seconds faster in the same kart... Question is, do you reckon it's possible for me to beat him to the prize of $500 ??
  12. I've been tempted many times to buy a Porsche damaged by a flood from Auctions in the US. but i've never done so because the auctions would not provide any report or details about the extent of the damage. i must say i was close to finalizing a beautiful 993 C4S in silver, photos showed interior was flooded to the level of the back seats (lower cushion). in the end i opted out as any damage to electronics and engine would cost too much even if the purchase price was a good one. to this date i'm still very tempted, anyone knows of a website that gives full details about flooded Porsches for sale? Any flood damaged cars you hear of please let me know, i can import them to the UAE and fix them here. Thanks, Nehme
  13. My 03 C4S is GCC spec. (Middle eastern gulf spec modified to deal with the extremely high tempretures). I'm not sure if it comes with PSE in this region. there is no switch in my car, i will check for the PSE relay though. would appreciate if someone can tell me whether the 2003 models come with PSE, as my car is fully loaded and would expect such option to be there if they did have PSE for 03 models. Thanks!
  14. I have an 03 C4S. CDR 23 (i did not double check) my problem is that whenever i turn the knob to turn up the volume it turns the volume down instead. if i do it slowly it raises the volume. if i replace the knobs will this fix the problem? same thing for the second knob when changing tracks.... Thanks
  15. well another update from my side, temperatures are soaring up to 47 degrees celsius, i've managed to drive the car for 1,000 KM now and amazingly the oil level is still at full!! Castrol sports Edge 10W60 is definitely my choice from now on!!! mobil 1 would have dissolved by now... I'm a believer now... cheers guys.
  16. Just for your info, i've opted to go with Castrol's Sports Edge 10w60 synthetic... anyone ever tried this oil? from what i've noticed the engine is running much more smoothly with less noise. i will have to see the oil consumtion after 1,000 to 1,500 Km to judge if it's better than the Mobil1.
  17. 27 years old 2003 996 C4S planning on getting a 928 or 968 soon
  18. 2003 996 C4S / 86,000 KM (53,750 Miles). Last minor service was done on 75,000 KM (~47k miles) where the oil and filter where changed, my baby consumes around 1 litre of oil every 1,200 to 1,500 KM, which is normal according to porsche and my service advisor. The question is do i need to change the oil and oil filter after driving 11,000 KM? doesn't topping up the engine with 1 litre of oil every 1.5k tend to in a sense replace the lost oil? or do i need to change the oil filter? N.B: I live in Dubai and it's getting very hot here at the moment, thinking of switching to castrol 15w50, anyone recommends this move? my porsche is off the warranty... Thanks!!
  19. Is it cranking normally and just not starting or is the cranking slower than normal when hot? when i first hit the ignition it's slower... after that the cranking is normal as when you start the car when it's cold...
  20. 2003 996 C4S ----------------- Recently when i took my car to the dealer for minor service, they told me my battery is weak and needed changing. i changed it because i could feel that the battery was starting to give way. Was driving in a traffic jam and the car stalled, so i hit the ignition and the car wouldn't start... after attempting a couple of more times the car finally started again... The Car starts perfectly when cold, so i tested the stalling issue again when car is warm on the driveway and again, the car gave me such a tough time to start... I'm thinking it's the Alternator.... Anyone had similar issues??? Thanks
  21. Thanks Guys, I think you're absolutely right... gonna take my baby to an independant posche specialist and see what they say... will check out the white lithium grease also
  22. Here's what's happened so far... [just for info it's not only the pedal that's squeeking, there's a sound coming from somewhere above the transmission. near the slave cylinder. took back the car for lubing of the mechanism, they lubed it with heat resistant lube... worked like a charm for 2 days only!!! after that the sound came back. took it back to the dealer, he calls me and says to fix it the job will cost around 1500$!!! he wants to replace the pressure plate, clutch release bearing, intermediate piece, ball pin clutch actuation, clamp clutch release lever, sealing ring... i looked at him in disbelief!!! i dunno if he's tryin to scam me for another un needed job, but i'm sure as hell not dumb to believe all these need to be replaced to get rid of the squeeking!! any opinions comments appreciated.
  23. Incredibly generous and considerate thing to do for your family, you have my utmost respect for what you've done. i know this is not a political forum and this topic should probably not be discussed here, but do you people really think that your soldiers are going to Afghanistan to protect the USA??
