  1. So if I understand it is a different clip than the convertible switch on the center console. That on seemed to require a special tool - was very difficult to remove.
  2. So a question for the group - I just replaced the center console on my C4S Cab and had a hell of a time removing the convertible top switch. Is there some special tool for this. I broke one of the 4 tabs but it seems secure enough. The new problem is I am also replacing the door finishers and there are of course more of these rocker switches for the windows. I was rather hoping not to destroy when moving them to the new part. And help here would be appreciated.
  3. Thanks to all for the replies. Sadly my car is a NA C4S - Great car but not a turbo. It is tempting and my dealer (HBL - Tysons) can do it easily but it would just feel better to hear from others before I drop a grand on the mod.
  4. Is there any consensus which ECU remap is the best option. I have a 2006 C4S witch a gather has 355 BHP. I've added AWE headers, cats and exhaust but no air box at this point. I want to do the ECU and am aware of the offerings from Softronic, Fabspeed, etc but would love some feedback from others. The aftermarket modification options for adding horsepower are similar to all the muscle powders marketed to teenagers who will pay through the nose for over priced protein powder. I guess what I'm saying is that I know better but am still easily marketed to and would appreciate some advise from others.
  5. So I'm driving back from a Cars and Coffee event this morning and in 4 gear at about 50 MPH I can feel the power coming on and off like there is water in the fuel or something. Pulling into traffic a couple of times recently I've nearly stalled and just thought it might be operator error. But in fact it would seem there is some sort of issue with the car and not my clutch foot. I'm not sure if this is a common issue as this is my first Porsche. Any wisdom from the list is as always appreciated . Still under warranty so I'm not too worried but always disturbing. My only real concern is that I installed the AWE exhaust and there could be an issue with the oxygen sensor which would not be covered . Again thanks to anyone who might have more of an idea than I do.
  6. This is one of the most detailed threads on a very desireable upgrade I think I have seen and is a no brainer for performance improvement. Thanks to all for the help. I found this parts list on 6Speed from a contributer: Intake Manifolds: #997.110.115.40 X2 Throttle Body: #997.605.116.00 Distributor Pipe: 997.110.416.40 Rubber Sleeve: 997.110.685.40 X2 Hose Clamp: 997.512.694.00 X4 Electric Line (tank vent line extension): 997.607.130.00 Tank Vent Line Support: 997.110.429.40 Support for throttle body: 997.110.423.40 Support: 997.110.433.40 Tank ventline including Valve: 997.110.129.40 Tank Ventline: 997.110.127.40 It sure would be nice if Porsche just had a simple X-51 CAI including appropriate ECU remap so we could all quit guessing and jerry-rigging our poor cars with Hoover drive belts of all things. When I was deployed in Iraq I first heard the term "hillbilly armor," but I never thought it would apply to my Porsche.
  7. So I spoke to the body shop and I think they are going to install the bumber cover with the sensors and I will later have to get them wried at the dealer. Let's hope I'm not chasing shadows.
  8. Thanks - I suppose all I can do is ask and hope it is not prohibitively expensive. The repair is being done at a Porsche dealer's own body shop - hopefully this is a help.
  9. Anyone know if it is possible to retrofit park assist? My car got scraped while parked recently and is getting the rear bumper cover replaced and I figured now is the time if it is possible. Thanks in advance if anyone knows.
  10. Sounds like I have to take it to the dealer. Between the Bluetooth/Ipod/sat and Exhaust I fear that one of them conflicted with the big brain. Let's just hope there are not warranty issues.
  11. So I'm out of my garage setting up Sirius sat radio with the car at idle for an extended length of time and the Check Engine !! thing comes on. As background I also recently installed an entire AWE system on the 2006 C4S. Any advise before bringing it to the dealer. HELP....
  12. Thanks so much for the kind offer but I found the printout of all my options and it was not listed explaining why I can't find it. I do have the $4k hard top. Wish I could go back in time and swap the stupid thing for a top of options that I actually want.
  13. I hve a 2006 C4S and can't find the TPM. Are all cars equipped or can I assume that mine may not have it.
  14. That makes sense. I had not really even thought of the possible damage to the heads. the car only has 30,000 miles on it but this kind of thing is a roll of the dice.
