  1. This is for a 951... is the procedure the same for 944S? Could I do this myself? I've changed fuel pressure regulator, coolant tank, speedo gears, dash lights. I'm no to bad with wrenches... and the big question is: Is the voltage regulator the real issue? Or should I do other things before I tear into it? Thanks. R
  2. So when the car is off it's measuring 12.77....with engine running it's fluctuating between 15.24 and 15.68. Then with lights on it's fluctuating from 14.98 and 16.04. It wouldn't hold a steady number. Thoughts? R
  3. I just bought a digital meter. I'll see how that goes. Stay tuned. R
  4. So should I go to garage? Or just get proper voltmeter for that? R
  5. So that's one of many I presume. I'll just have to locate them all and clean 'em up. R
  6. Yes. They are tight and corrosion free. Someone mentioned maybe a ground wire? Not sure what I'm looking for in that case or where? R.
  7. I guess I'll have to go buy a digital one then. Stay tuned! Thanks guys. R
  8. I set the meter to 10. The other options are 2.5 or 50 I believe.
  9. The voltmeter is brand new. But I have to admit, I'm not very knowledgeable when it come to electronics. Do the other numbers make sense?
  10. So. Here are the readings. Engine off --- 13V Engine running --- 16V Engine running with lights on --- 15v Thoughts? Roch
  11. Hello. my 87 944s has a small annoying issue. my lights flicker when it's at idle and when I rev up they are fine. is this a simple issue or a sign that something is failing. thanks. Roch.
  12. That was it! I was told to check fuse 30 and that was fine. So I was stumped. 35 it was! Thank you so much. Roch
  13. Hello gang, I replaced a right rear tail light (the left one of the bottom two). I then swapped some of the other light bulbs (reverse, turn signal and brake lights) just to make sure they all worked. When I swapped the turn signal bulb. It lit up once then went dead. I then turn on the vehicle and got warning messages that said "check corner light" and "check right indicator light". So all this to say that ii have no right turn signals anymore and the tiny little bulb in the corner doesn't light anymore (the bulb is good though). Any advice is appreciated. Roch
  14. found used OEM for 350 a piece at L.A. Dismantlers out of an 84. Looks stock and working fine. Roch
  15. my heated mirror feature is not working (for both sides). Is there a fuse for that? or is it a switch issue? they fold and adjust with no issues. they just don't heat. Any advice is appreciated. Roch.
  16. Can someone suggest some good replacement horns that are just plug and play essentially? Not looking to rewire or fabricate brakets etc.... Thanks. Roch.
  17. Hi Johan, I actually bought the exact lights you just highlighted....They are too big and don't fit in the opening. I guess I will just have to find an aftermarket set that will fit the opening and hope for the best. What I thought would be easy is turning into a headache! Thanks for helping Johan. Roch.
  18. Hi folks, I've just purchased a 1980 911 Targa SC and she's a beauty. It appears to have the Ruf 930 body conversion. It is missing it's fog lights and I was hoping someone could help me track some down or at least recomend some that are compatible. Here is the pic of mine with the openings and I've attached a photo of a 930 coupe to show the similar body with fog lights. Thanks to everyone in advance. Roch.
  19. Ok, so I'm learning about this car day by day. I managed to track down the problem. there is a wire that plugs in near the seam of the front door and front fender. If you open the door and look forward into the top of the fender you will see the wire. Mine was not secured in it's clap and most likely jarred loose. I simply reached in with my fingers (really tight spot) and managed to line up the plug with the socket and then used a flathead screwdriver to reach in to push the plug in its place. Took a few minutes to line the up but it's done! Now on to the next glitch...... Roch.
  20. Hi there, I just picked up my new (to me) 1980 911 SC Targa and now I'm encountering my first glitch. Both power windows are not working! the fuse looks good. Could it be the relay? is there anyway of testing the relay or do you just have to buy a new one and try? Any advice is appreciated. Roch.
  21. So I should be able to operate the car still with AC turned off? Thanks for the insight. Anyone else out there that can offer ideas on my initial problem of engine overheating/cooling fan issues? Thanks
  22. What's happening? Heard a pop sound while car was idling in driveway and steam starts pouring out of right front of car. You could tell something was releasing pressure. I shut her off right away. The strange part was that the car was not in the danger zone in terms of temperature. But I did notice that the AC was blowing hot air today which I thought was strange, especially since it was ice cold yesterday. So after inspecting the general area of where the steam came from, I'm concluding that it may have something to do with the AC compressor. Can someone offer an opinion on that? There was a very minor trace of a leak on the surface of the belly pan. No big gusher. Can the AC compressor make a pop sound and spring a leak? It scared the bejesus out of me. I thought I blew the engine or something. Any help is appreciated.... Roch.
  23. I checked the fuses today and they were good. I pulled the relay (XVIII) and shorted 30 and 87 with ignition turned on. Nothing happened. Does that mean a fuse is gone or something along the that line? Or does that mean faulty relay. The car also has another relay under the hood which seems to be added when they put the aftermarket fan in. When I short that one, the fan kicks in. So the big question is, should the relay on the fuse panel when shorted activate the fan just like when I short the relay under the hood?
