  1. Ok I looked a little closer today. The hose itself is about 6 or 8 inches (shaped kinda like an S). Its in the back right side of the car, about a foot from the back bumper. It does come off a hard pipe. When I stick my head under the back right side of the car, its the only black rubber hose I see. Everything else is metal.
  2. I have a small coolant leake from one of my hoses (99 c2). I have found which hose and have looked at the hose diagram (kinda confusing diagram and hard for me to even tell which side is the back of the car). I also spoke with Jeff Clark who sent me the diagram but unless I can give him a hose or part #, its hard for him to figure out which hose I need. The best way for me to describ it is this: The leake is below the engin. When I crawl under the car, the are two black rubber hoses exposed (one behind the passagner seat and one behind the driver seat). They are actully more like under the left and right rear seats. These aren't way up in the engin bay, they are right at the bottom of the car. The one behid the passanger seat is the one leaking and it looks like the clamp has dug into the rubber a little and its dripping every 5 or 6 seconds. I looked to make sure the leake wasn't coming from a higher location and Im fairly sure its just the hose. I figured I would probably replace both these hoses since the other one kinda looks old too but I can't figure out the part numbers. If someone has a good picture of the undearneath of their car, please send it to me and I can show Jeff which hose Im talking about. Thanks in advance for your help.
  3. I just called the local dealership to see if by the Vin # they could tell me if there was any RMS or IMS work done on my vehicle in the past. The guy told me that unless I got written permission from the pervious owner/owners, that by law, they can't release any history records for the vehicle. I told him I didn't need a print out or anything just him telling me over the phone if these items were in the history of the car and I got the same response. Is this correct? Do I actually have to track down the first owner from 1999 to be able to figure out what all has been done to my car? The only thing car fax shows is "vehicle serviced at dealership" on several occations but doesn't say for what (im assuming most of them were regular maintenance).
  4. So I may just need a new silver button and not a whole new assembly. Any suggestions on where I could order one? should I check with the local dealership?
  5. Just wanted to say hi. Purchased my first 911 last month. 1999 911 C2 62K. I've loved every minute of it. The only thing that bothers me about the car is the cassette player. It makes the car feel older and less exotic. However it does have the cd changer, so I can still listen to my music. I have two question and would appreciate any advice: 1. If I can find a used cd head unit from another 966, is the wiring the same so that I could just remove my cassette player and install the factory cd unit (assuming that I would also get the code from the seller) 2. My second issue is with the tipronic shift knob. The top part of the knob (the silver button that presses down) pops off about every third or fourth time that I depress it. I pop it back into place but it keeps doing it. It seems to come out of place when I depress it. The knob has a small plastic wheel like device on it. When it pops off, I can see a spring on the shift knob and a very thin metal bar that the silver button clicks back on to. I don't think anything has bee broken off, but its kinda embarrassing when someone is in the car with me and I go to shift into gear and the button flies off into my lap. :( Im very excited about my new car and look forward to chatting with other owners. Thanks scguy
