A legit PIWIS 1 does not exist. Porsche killed all the tools in their last update. I know some Porsche dealers that were begging for something like this when it all happened, simply because for older cars (through 997), the PIWIS 1 is the preferred tool. Regardless, my copy retains all functionality.
Loren On the tablets, it runs inside a VM. The OS is Windows 7. I have not tried a native installation as none of the newer tablets have drivers for windows XP, and I don't know if the touch screen will work or not. The advantage of this setup is that you can use the tablet for other things too, and not just PIWIS... I don't have any more fujitsus at this time, but I have a Windows 8 microsoft surface pro in the mail that I am going to experiment with. I suspect that with the i5 processor, it will be even faster. I also have PIWIS 1 natively installed on a Dell laptop that is very fast - it boots straight to the PIWIS home screen. Either of these platforms are WAY faster than the original bosch tablet.
Here are some photos of a real KTS520, including photos of the board. After seeing many of these, typically, real German-made units will look tired in apperance, due to years of use, have various velco pieces attached to them, missing a rubber foot, etc. The general rule of thumb - if it looks brand new, it is likely a Chinese clone.
Gentlemen, if you are looking for a PIWIS 1, look no further than here: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/997-gt2-gt3-forum/799773-for-sale-piwis-factory-diagnostic-tool.html I've put together a few of these machines for fellow GT3 owners... This is the real deal.
