  1. mine is solved already,, it was the fuel tank breather valve going out,, my car never stalled under any condition,, your problem sounds like a dirty throttle body or an intake vacuum leak somewhere after MAF toward the engine,, check the air intake pipes and manifold gasket,, there is a slight possibility that the excess oil has reached areas further than the throttle body where they may easily reduces the air flow to the engine,, if possible,, take off and clean throttle body, MAF, air box, intake pipes and manifold,, keep us posted,, KJ

  3. Correct. My guess is he still has a dirty throttle - likely behind the butterfly. If not I guess it could be an intermittent throttle positioner - which would mean a new throttle body. i have removed the throttle body completely that day to clean it inside out,, is there a way to test the positioner? how much is the TB?
  4. an update,, i took the car to the dealer,, they found no codes,, cleaned the MAF,, reflash the ECU,, checked all possible causes,, chraged me $200,, later at the same night the car was out,, it happened again and the RPM dropped to 200 revs and back up again,, i am out of ideas,, please, please, help! :@

  7. some said that my AOS is going out,, what do you think? i tried once to remove the oil filler cap while the car running,, didn't stall but it idled roughly,, is that something?? what is the ideal idle rpm? mine idles @ around 700,,
  8. there is no CEL,, do i still have to check the codes? i have once unplugged the MAF and the symptom popped up again,, i guess this eliminates the MAF,, and the leak,, right?
  9. at traffic lights, the rpm goes down to 200 rev for a second or two then the idle goes back up to normal. i have cleaned throttle body and MAF but didn't fix it. my car is MY00. What is this?

  11. last night, i heard a recurring rubbing sound which was proportionate to engine revs,, this morning, i took a closer look at it and found that the lowest engine pulley on the left side is running unbalanced and rubbing to the belt making that sound,, what is that pulley? how to fix that? is it serious? thanks, KJ

  13. i have been to the services schedule section and couldn't figure out when to replace transmission and differential oil,, when to replace them? any parts required?
  14. my 2000 C2 will turn 60,000 km where it needs a scheduled major service,, anyone knows what are the jobs done and parts replaced in major services? just wonder where i can have a copy (free if possible) of the service/repair manual for 996 Carrera.
  15. the whining sound at those speeds might just be the rear spoiler going up automatically the car has a fixed spoiler,, when i got off the car and checked the rear tires, i found them of different patterns and sizes; can this be the problem?
  16. i got the SN from the display by holding TP until 'BECKER 1' shows up then i used the right dial. You can try the suggested varying the number I gave you by one or two each of the first code and see if you can find it. Just takes patience because of the time out after every three trys. 2451 BINGO! thanks a lot :)

  19. hi everyone, i am new to this forum. i want your advise on a killer deal i am having on a 2000 Carrera. the car has only made 60,000 KM (40,000 miles). i took the car for the last weekend to decide and noted the followings: 1- whining sound from the back end @ 70-80 km/h (45-50 miles/h) the whining then goes away 2- at full stop, the idle is not perfect and the car slightly vibrates 3- at full stop, some front end noise when swinging the steering wheel beside the above, the car feels perfect. what do you think of these notes? are they critical? what are the possible causes and solutions? thanks in advance,, KJ
