    If you do it by yourself (alone, in my case), use an extra long ratchet extension/breaker bar (3' of pipes). Made my job a lot easier!

    Never knew that the steering wheel has to come off! Had my tires/wheels changed recently, done 4-wheel alignment - great, can't complain! MN

    Mine is '04 S and does the same at stop n go traffic, climbing up to 220F (I just started noticing it!). I'm not convinced that temperature's swing between 180-220F is normal at all. Folks, we all have driven other made before the Porsche, right? normal car don't do that! I think I will listen to 1 of the advices to replace the coolant cap first....

    I only refer this procedure for my own CayenneS 2004. I found this procedure on the Web & and it got rid of the "Service" light message: ************************************************************************************ Reset Service Light for ’04 CayenneS -With key in off position, depress ODO button. -Without brake pedal depressed, turn ignition on while still pushing the ODO button. -You should see message: “Service Reset”. -Push the “enter” button located on the bottom of the wiper stalk several times. -Turn off the ignition then start the vehicle, “Service" light should be cleared. ************************************************************************************* GOOD LUCK!

    Aux baterry is located in the back where the spare tire area is. You can't miss it if there is one!

    Coils & Spark Plugs change out. In order to change the Coils & Spark Plugs for ’04 CayenneS , the torque arm must be swing out of the way and the bracket on the on the valve cover (passenger side) must be removed. Is this an accurate statement? I bought this car used at 76K mile last year. This week, I wanted to inspect the coils due to the “crack” issue that I have read and perhaphs change the plugs while I’m at it. During the procedure, I only could remove the (2) upper bolts on the bracket where the torque arm is secured to, the (2) lower bolts apparently were stripped/damaged from the previous owner, at least that’s I what I think what happened; I can only turn the bolts with the ratchet but could not take them out. As this is my 1st Porsche, I thought there might be a special tool to remove these bolts. So I put everything back & took it to the dealer. I asked the dealer to change out the coils & plugs (which I supplied). They agreed, and the work is done a day latter. When I came home, wanted to know if the dealer has tighten the lower bracket bolts, well, of course, the bolts are still loosen! That means that they only replaced (7) sets of coils & plugs!!! (@$#*^&). I’m going back to talk to the service manager. I want to have a concrete evident to support my theory. What do you think? Any help is greatly appreciated. ManN

    Hello all, I'm going to replace side marker light bulb but don't know how to get to it. Do I take out the head light assembly to get to it? or do I access from the wheelwell? any pics? Any tip is appreciated. ManN

    That's odd! I thought it's the otherway around! I have a BOSE Sub in the back AND I have a 2nd battery. I had to buy a spare to bring along when I take a long trip just in case. ManN

    I wonder ... of all the great German engineers, when you design a part that you know it will fail over time, why not make it replacable? Me too, a failed sensor in the transmission ended up with a rebuilt x-mission from Porsche!!!

    I'm in the same boat. I have '04 CayenneS with base audio system. I know that there's an Amp in the rear because I replaced one. I'm hoping that one day I can find an upgrade with NAV and retains all steering wheel functions AND won't cause me to file for bankruptcy. :D ManN

    I have 2 batteries. Do I replace both? or are there such thing as "cranking" battery and "aux" battery?

    If you have cold air coming out in the summer then it's not freon issue. It may be the controls that don't cycle the AC when it's in defrost mode. Just a thought. ManN

    Always remember that you have a heavy trailer in the back when you brake and keep a safe distance especially down hill. Don't forget to practice backing up with trailer (you have to steer your wheel in reverse direction to get the trailer where you want). Hope I didn't offended you but no one told me when I tow my first boat. It was a hard task until I got use to it! ManN

    My factory installed roof rail is loosen up toward the rear. I tried to take the rack off to tighten up the rail but can seem to unscrew the torx screws, it's very tight and I'm afraid to strip the torx head. Is there any trick? Thanks,

    I believe I had the same problem. Mine is an 04 Cayenne S with 74K miles. It happened every morning when the vehicle is cold. When I stepped on the accelerator, the car won't move until after a second or two then the gear caught on created a big jerk or "hard clunk". It got a little better when the car is hot. I brought it to the dealer, at first they replace the transmission control module, (while the car still in the dealer) it didn't fix it. Then they said it's the gear sensor (or somewhere in that area) was bad and can't be replaced. I ended up replaced the entire transmission! ...... now the Cayenne is in the shop for the power steering replacement!!!!! it's a lemon!

    Does anyone know what type of XM/Sirius FM interface device where you plug the car's antenna to then plug into this device to work with external XM radio? My 04 CayenneS (I'm sure other Porsche model too) doesn't use standard radio antenna cable.

    OK, that makes sense. I'll play with it again after work today.

    Same problem here. I changed both sides to even out, worked for a couple cycles, then off again. Then the other side!... what's going on? To make sure, I sanded out the metal tabs on the socket, but not yet the metal tabs in the housing (but it looks good though). Are there a "Control Module" for the lights?
