  1. Hi: check engine light came on and error code p0430 which I believe is one of the 02 sensors; I have a 04 C4S. If I look under car, I have 4 sensors; I can see on each side of car sensors that are higher and closer to fenders and two that are lower and more center. Also the electrical connectors are two different colors; gray and black. Could someone please provide error code and location of sensor. Is bank 2 the passenger side or driver? Thank you for your help Note: I purchased her when she had 38,000 miles; I have 171,000 and she is still running strong..!
  2. Thanks for the input; topped off coolant and have driven 200 miles in last couple days and level hasn't dropped; maybe air void yet not sure if it could have stayed there for 3 months. If she drops again will follow the above advice. Thank you
  3. Mine is a manual; I did have the air oil separator replaced 3 months ago and it does have a coolant line that runs to it yet no leaks anywhere. I have already replaced cap with new reservoir tank. If it was a bad head gasket, could the gasket hold sometimes, then leak? Maybe I need shop to pull plugs and see if any coolant.
  4. I did check dipstick; really not sure what im looking for yet no bubbles or discoloration; oil was just changed a month ago and looks fine. I do know when it was down it stayed at that level for 2 months and now a gallon in a week; if it was a bad head gasket wouldn't car run rough?
  5. I have a 2004 996 C4S with approx. 155K; I noticed a couple months ago that the coolant was below the minimum level; level stayed at same level until I had an oil change about a month ago; coolant was topped off and have been driving for a month with no issue; just checked last week and all good; then today while leaving work the coolant level low warning light came on and down a gallon. There are no leaks anywhere and I haven't seen any fluid on ground in garage. They did have to drop engine about 3 months ago and had to replace coolant along with new reservoir tank; anyway that there could have been an air void? Car runs fine; any ideas?
  6. Very unhappy with my recent visits(s) to independent Porsche tech; received car back after they installed a new fuel sending unit seeing there was a 0442 code; the next day after receiving car back check engine light came on with following codes: 0492 0491 0071 0074 Any suggestion what it could be; maybe something unplugged? I don't want to take it back there just for them to start replacing everything; $3K last week was enough. Any help or input would be appreciated
  7. Thanks Loren; installed it and disconnected the negative terminal and reconnected oit and check engine gone; seems to be running fine; thanks for the help.
  8. So from the passenger side I follow the header a coupe feet into the cat; there is a sensor with blue wires before cat; there is another sensor with shorter gray wires that screws into the round end of the cat; the pipe then goes over to the driver side and goes up into a muffler and then comes back down to exchasut tip/exit on driver side. Sound correct?
  9. I have a 2004 C4S and need to replace the Bank 2 O2 sensor after cat; is the bank 2 the passenger side? I have attached a pic under the car on passenger side looking toward the rear bumper; there are two sensors there; are those actually for bank 1? Would the bank 2 after cat actually be on the drivers side?
  10. Spoke with advisor and he didnt have the code yet said part number is 99660617801 and 02 sensor behind bank 2 cat.
  11. Engine light came on; went to dealer and for $140 they plugged car in and error code reads: Found B2 post cat sensor faulty. They want $660 to replace; going to try on my own. So I assume its before the cat converter; I know that there are 4 sensors; would this sensor be on the driver of passenger side of car?
  12. Thanks so much for the info; I didnt pressure wash the engine as you suggested; I did remove the pipe going into the throttle body and used some carb cleaner and wiped the inside out as much as I could; will search on here how to take apart the throttle body and splitter; your engine looks clean!!
  13. I did have a turbo kit on it and had it removed; checked the clamps and all tight; maybe I should pressure wash off engine and see where it develops again??
  14. Any suggestions why there is oil residue around the throttle body area; its on top and on the right hand sdie also; I have checked fittings and everything seems tight; it can barely hold an idle in moringing when cold. Going to take intake pipe to throttle off and clean; maybe that will help with the issue on start up. Thanks for any suggestions
  15. For the past 2 months, when I startup the car in the morning it can barely hold an idle; if I try to tap the accelerator it will die; I let it run for about 5 minutes then it seems that it catches itself and the idle jumps up normal; I have tried to turn on AC at startup and it doesnt push up the idle. No issues after first start for day. Any suggestions? Thanks
  16. Thank you all for your help; I thought that they cable to release front lid would be protruding out some like the cable for gas cap; didnt kno I had to pull fender well off. Thank you
  17. I had my car washed and noticied later that day the front hood would not open; I have read the different threads about stuck lid. I have used a battery charger, pulled out the red tab in the fuse box and other clamp on door handle for ground; then I pushed the lid button on FOB; I can hear the truck mechanism make a sound yet lid not releasing. I have read that there is a cable under front bumper and in other threads that it in the passenger wheel well. Does any have a picture were the cable might be? 2004 C4S Thanks so much
  18. Thank you very much for that detailed answer; its going back in next week to have it checked; maybe I need to go back to factory settings with the P9 instead of the GT2 specs. Will post once issue resolved. Thanks again for all the help and advice.
  19. Thanks for all your help; sorry about not getting back sooner; have not had the time to drop off car. Maybe it is on the bump stops; I did pay $500 for a GT2 alignment about 6 months ago and thinking maybe with the adjustment they set it close to the bump stops; they set it to a certain rake from front to rear. Not sure if I should set it back to factory alignment or the GT2 alignment specs?
  20. I have a 2004 C4S with 90K; lowered with Bistein PS9; I have adjusted the front knobs for soft/firm and for the last 6 months can feel and hear every bumps; are the shocks bad? The kit has only been on for approx 40K miles; its like the are no shocks and every bump of dip in road its like its bottoming out. I can hear the noise and its like bam bam etc. Do I need to re pressurize the shocks? Went to dealer during oil change and told them; the said eveything looks great..
  21. Thanks everyone for the info; so would having a not air tight oil fill tube result in sluggish and/or hesitate take off? I havent received any fault codes, yet sometimes when I take off the sort of sputters until I give it some solid gas; maybe once it gets going then it builds the vacuum?
  22. I had some modifications done to engine resulting in having to cut the oil fill tube down approx 4 inches; so now I have a plastic piece with the oil fill cap on yet can pull it out; its not air tight and I was told that a Porsche will run rough if the cap isnt air tight and was told that I need to replace the entire fill tube. Any insight or opinions?
  23. So liner below the glove box or should I be looking at the floor or side walls?
  24. I have a 2004 C4S and have been having constant squeaking sounds coming from the front; car is lowered with Bilstein PS9 kit and have about 69K miles on car. Shocks seem fine; have adjsuted the firmness on the kit and same thing. Even if I'm going 10 mph over small bumps in road the sound is there??
