  1. I have a 2000 C2 Cabrio and have located an OEM Taco Wing decklid the same color as my car. Will the Taco wing work with the Cabrio or will it interfere with the convertible top? Anyone done this? pics?
  2. If you pop off the cam plugs you should be able to get an idea whether the timing has shifted. At TDC the grooves should be vertical. I have pictures of them on my DIY IMS AOS thread on Rennlist. 996.
  3. Please share your findings. I am looking at replacing my tensioners as well in my 2000 C2 Cab and your experience would be helpful.
  4. These are clearly screwdriver marks from someone trying to pry off the bumper.
  5. Actual procedure turns out to be: Remove 2 mounting bolts with 10 mm socket on tranny side of AOS ~ 2 minutes Squeeze collars and pull off large connections ~ 20 minutes Compress hose clips on the 2 small hoses and move clips off connectors ~ 1.5 hrs Remove small hoses from AOS ~ 1 minute Jiggle out AOS and remove via bottom ~ 2 minutes Hate those small hose clips. They will be replaced.
  6. Does anyone have a procedure or can direct me to a thread on replacement of the AOS on a Mk1 with the tranny off? I have the tranny off for an IMS retrofit and the AOS is sitting right there. I'd like to replace it while I'm here. I can't seem to locate any info in the WSM either. Your help would be appreciated!
  7. I am looking at proactive replacement of the water pump on my 2000 996 C2 Cab. The OEM impeller is plastic. I found this water pump with a metal impeller on-line. A metal impeller seems preferable to me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140304004760&viewitem=#shId Anyone have any recommendations/experience with these? Thanks
  8. I made the mod yesterday and everything is working perfectly. Thanks to eveyone for their input and for the excellent DIY.
  9. The "How to Make Your Sidemarkers Flash" tutorial describes how this works for US 996's. Can the same mod be made to Canadian 996's with DTR lights?
  10. Thanks EastBay! I have been working too much lately to get at a look at this but hope to in the coming week. I suspected a bit of service like you've described was all it would take. It only happens every once in a while but I like to address any symptoms as soon as possible. I'll post my findings once I get it out and have a peek. Much appreciate your input!
  11. I added CF parts (from MACarbon) and then did red leather accents, new steering wheel, red trimmed mats...pics are in my sig link. Thanks. Very nice!
  12. I am interested in spiffing up the bland interior of my Ocean Blue exterior, Metropol Blue interior 2000 C2 Cabrio and I am looking for inspiration. Who has re-covered their black gauge faces? Anyone used the dash trim kits to add contrast and color? Anyone gone wild with leather re-painting? Your experience, pictures, sources and suggestions would be appreciated.
  13. I had the very same problem with my 00 C2 Cab. I followed the procedure in the DIY section to top up the hydraulic fluid reservoir (which did turn out to be low) and it works perfectly now. Link below.
  14. I thought so, thanks for the confirmation. The whine it is making is very high pitched and not normal. If I can stop it from failing I'd like to. I may just pull it apart to have a look if I can do anything. Is the only time this pump runs when the engine is cold or does it supplement air flow at other times too? This forum is a tremendous resource and I appreciate everyone's input.
  15. C2 996 2000 Cabrio. The secondary air pump whines when the engine is cold and first started up. After 20-30 sec the air pump stops, revs drop and the whine ceases. It would seem to be a bearing. Has anyone rebuilt one of these or have any suggestions? I'd like to nip any problems in the bud. Thanks
  16. Does anyone know of a way to clean the interior of the headlight covers? I have some condensation streaks on the inside of my 2000 996 Cabrio headlight covers. I would like to clean them up if possible. Any idea how they formed and how they can be prevented? Any suggestions? Your help would be very much appreciated.
