  1. My '01 cab has been make the "clicking" sound from the control module for the last year or so when the car is off and the key is out. The cab top operates perfectly - its just weird when I take the key out and the car is shut off, the control module goes crazy with the clicking noise! Its was off and on for awhile, but now everytime it happens and is making noise right now in my garage! Here's my logic so far.....I'm assuming if the open/close cycle works, then there is no issue with any of the microswitches. So I knew my ignition switch has been turning weird (mushy key turn) so I thought maybe that was making the control module click all the time. Replaced the ignition switch last weekend..still get the clicking noise. Checked the durametric codes tonite and I have the 01 fault code - implausible switch position error. The only other thing is that maybe the control module in the rear that making the clicking noise has a faulty relay or something in it? or can a microswitch be faulty but the open/close cycle still works fine? Saw some used control modules on ebay @ $250 - but wanted to check to make sure my logic on pinpointing things is correct. Thanks in advance,Will
  2. Looking for some help/insight into an issue that just started in my '01 Cab this week. When the car is off, key out of ignition - randomly I will start to hear the cab top control module "clicking" rapidly (like every second for different durations - sometimes 10 secs, 15 sec, etc...). Everything operationally works opening and closing the top..its just when its sitting idle I hear this relay clicking. Is it a bad microswitch or has that control module just started dying a slow death. I took off the back cover tonite just to take out the smarttop to see if that made a difference (it didn't) and the module is HOT! That relay in there is clickindurations - sometimes 10 secs, 15 sec, etc...) Is it a bad microswitch or has that control module just started dying a slow death. I took off the back cover tonite just to take out the smarttop to see if that made a difference (it didn't) and the module is HOT! That relay in there is clicking like crazy so I'm sure eventually something will give! Any insight from Cab owners is appreciated! Thanks,Will
  3. ***** Autobody in Somerville. The place/location isn't great, but check out the some of the cars they have worked on....
  4. I just purchased an aftermarket Carrera wing from DepartStop, and having talked with the folks there, it sounds like the wing replaces the existing auto up-down wing and bolts right onto the existing decklid.... So I was looking at the underneath of the decklid last nite, and I was having a hard time figuring out how you just take the moving wing off the decklid.... Anyone have experience doing it that could describe what needs to be taken apart underneath? Thanks, Will
  5. Hi - I was posing this question over on Rennlist and they suggested I come over here. I'm looking for the tsb instructions for the 3-4 convertible top noise bulletins for a 2001 C2 Cab. I'm tired of taking it to the dealer, taking a ride with them to show them to noise - but then when I get the car back, it still makes the same creaking/squeeking noises. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Will
  6. I just purchased the Traffic Pro from Crutchfield and started looking at my stock harness tonite. I have a CDR220 with DSP and when I take out the stock radio, the harness is missing the wires for the GAL and the Reverse wire. Am I supposed to take out those two wires from the harness they provide and put them into the stock harness that is already attached? How do you get the individual wires out of the harness? Then it sounds like I need to hooked up the GAL and the Reverse wires and then I'm ready to try it out? Thanks in advance, Will
  7. I'm installing a Fabspeed exhaust (stock headers) on a 01 Cab and had a couple questions after the installation... 1) How close should the rear bottom (outside) corner of the exhaust be to the rear bumpers heat shield. Mine is practically resting against the heat shield on both sides... 2) How "air tight" should the collar be that links the cats to the Fabspeed exhuast? When the car is first idling from cold, I can put my hand over the collar and I can feel air leaking out - on one side its at the Fabspeed connection - the other side its the cat side!!! argh!!!! It appears that the Fabspeed pipe is a little angled and maybe thats why is not getting a good seal? 3) When adjusting/putting in the new exhaust whats the correct order to tighten the pieces? a) the collar to the cats B) the 3 bolts that hold the OEM bracket and muffler c) the 2 vertical bolts that connect the muffler to the OEM bracket Any advice is appreciated as I want to make sure I have this on correctly since reading about how some people have thought that they have lost power after putting in the exhaust! Thanks in advance, Will
  8. I purchased a set of wheels spacers from FVD that came with the longer bolts. From reading on the H&R site for the spacers, it says you need to take the tapered piece that attaches to the oem wheel bolt, and put them on the newer longer bolts... I was looking that the tapered piece this morning and it looks like they pinch the edge so it won't come off the wheel bolt itself....so is there a trick to getting the tapered piece off the bolt? or is it a matter of unpinching the edges so that it can freely move over the threads on the bolt.... Thanks in advance, Will
  9. No luck with the suggestion - even if the windows are all the way down it still doesn't want to close. So I went into the owners manual and dug out the section to manually open the rear lid...once I did that, the top closed fine....so at least now I can take it to the dealer and have them figure it out! Thanks again for everyone's help! Will
  10. Thanks for the advice....I pretty much tried each of the things except to voltmeter test the fuses...I only eyed them to make sure they weren't visibly broken. But I'll try it all again tomorrow....and see what happens...or else its the trip to the dealer next week! Thanks, Will
  11. I just got home and tried the entire process again with the windows up. Its starts off with the windows coming down, but they don't come down all the way...and then the light in the dash starts blinking....when I press the button again, then the windows go down the rest of the way, but then the light in the dash continues to blink.... Hopefully that gives some more information! THanks, Will
  12. The rear housing doesn't lift ....after the windows do there thing, I hear a click from behind the dash, and then the light in the dash starts blinking.... And yes, I'm trying to close the top from the open position.... Thanks, Will
  13. I left the top down on my 01 Cab last nite and went to close it this morning to go to work. I pull up the emergency brake, the light (fro the ebrake) goes on in the dash. I press the button to close the top, the windows roll down, then I hear a click and the light in the dash blinks (for the top)... I check the fuse, and I checked to make sure the hood wasn't left half open (weird thing is I had the front hood open to put stuff in prior to starting the car) - still the same thing happens.... Any ideas on what else to check before having to take it to the dealer? I remember reading stuff about this but my searches come up empty! THanks in advance, Will
