  2. Can anyone provide the part number for that black ABS strip that runs below the front bumper on a 2011 911TT ... Wife whacked a curb stone in a parking lot. I know these are installed by the dealer just prior to delivery so they don't get dinged up during transport. Thanks! --CC
  3. The "extensions" are old time spark plug non-foulers you get at your local auto parts store. You just drill out the small hole on the end and screw the O2 sensor into the spark plug end and then screw the non-fouler into the exhaust. This isn't always 100% guaranteed to work but it seems to on many. The ultimate fix is a DME flash. --CC
  4. On all my vehicles I get better mpgs with non-ethanol gas though the gains only show for highway driving and it's generally in the range of 1 - 2mpg. It is true that you get less moisture and corrosion with the non-ethanol gas. There is more energy in a gallon of gas than a gallon of ethanol as reflected in the mpg gains you do make more power. --CC
  5. Fidanza flywheels are good stuff. That vendor however is not one I would deal with. I speak from experience. Stay as far away from that guy as possible. --CC
  6. I have always had stellar luck and long life from Continental DW's ... Excellent grip when warm, and good in the wet too. I live in FL so not a problem here. --CC
  7. Hmmm ... I know I had to go rescue my wife one time. On her 2008 C 2.7 5spd manual if you kill it you have to turn the key off. *THEN* turn the key to the left [ counter clockwise about a second -- this forces some sort of computer reset ] then off then press the clutch and start as usual. She received this instruction from the salesman at the Porsche dealer when she was test driving a Cayman and killed it but forgot and got all flustered. Not sure if the 2005 electronics are that way the but 08's sure are. --CC
  8. I've looked at filters from several different "names" like Purolator, K&N, etc, and the Porsche branded. Interestingly, looking at the markings on the filter they *all* came from the same manufacture / plant in Germany. I think this is one of the cases where there's not enough sales volume to support someone domestically making them and all these guys just buy from the source and resell them. The bonus is that several of these domestic "names" can be had for a lot less. Same filter, less money. YMMV --CC
  9. Charging voltage is dependent on several factors and will change over time. Those factors some of which are battery condition, and ambient temperature. As the battery charges the overall system voltage will back down a bit. Generally it will maintain around ~13.7v .. It may go as high as 14.4v if the battery is low and the ambient is low as well. Engine speed vs load is a factor as well. If the engine isn't turning the alternator fast enough to maintain the system load then the voltage will tail off. On newer cars they generally have small enough pulleys on the alternator to maintain charge at idle with the A/C on which is absolutely necessary for the electronics. Sometimes 3rd party add-ons like high power sound systems over tax the charging system at low speeds. I've seen the action you mention here with bad batteries, bad voltage regulators, worn brushes, and lose / high resistance grounds as well. HTH --CC
