  1. Hi Sorry to butt in. Did you ever get the bottom of the clutch squeal problem ? My 993 C4 has developed exactly the symptoms. im hoping its a cheap fix Cheers Karl.
  2. Can anybody please help. I have just purchased a set of used 17" Turbo Twist replica Alloys with tyres for my 986 Boxster but im not sure if they will fit straight on my car or if i need any spacers etc. I have just won them on ebay so im not actually in possesion of them yet. The seller said he has taken them off a 993 Carrera 4. They are 17" which is the same size as the ones im replacing but im not sure if the offset will be the same. Can anybody advise ? Cheers Karl. Info from the seller:- FRONT RIM: ET23 7.5Jx17H2 FRONT TYRE: 205.50 ZR17 RE71 BRIDGESTONE REAR RIM: ET15 9Jx17H2 REAR TYRE: 255.40 ZR17 RE71 BRIDGESTONE See the following link for more details. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...2B%2B%26fvi%3D1
  3. Thanks for your help. I have just discovered this superb website which instructs on how to dissassemble the instrument cluster. Having removed it and pushed everything tight it seems to have done the trick. Cheers Karl. see http://boxsters.addr.com/hacks/cluster.htm
  4. Hi This has just happened to me (ie the clock, odometer, oil level displays etc keep going off) if i push on the binnacle they come back on for a brief moment. Looking at it it looks more like lcd or led technology as opposed to a simple bulb Did you get your fixed if so how ? Cheers Karl.
  5. Glad you got it sorted & many thanks for the feedback. Happy Cruising. Karl.
  6. I have a 98 2.5 and this has happened to me five times in the last fortnight. It always starts first time when cold and yet i'll do a few miles, leave it parked up and it wont start. The engine turns over but there is no sign of ignition. I'll keep trying every 30 seconds (removing the key between tries) and eventually it will start after maybe 5 minutes and run fine. Theres nothing more embarrasing than a porsche that wont start when passers by are secretly sniggering. Im going to let my porsche specialist take a look asap so will keep you posted, ps did you get your problem sorted ?
  7. Yes ive had my friend drive behind me at speeds up to 100mph and he said that it didnt come up. Ive always suspected that it wasnt coming up as it sometimes feels a bit twitchy when taking fast bends. The instrument cluster all seems to work ok. Is there any way of checking the wiring? Im not sure if this is related but there is a wire under the passenger seat with a 2 pin connector on it. It isnt connected into anything but i cant find anywhere for it to plug in to. There is also some kind of control box under the seat with the following numbers on it '996 618 260 02' (M534) any ideas what it is ?
  8. Hi Many thanks for your help. Ive just been out and switched the relays round but its still the same. The manual switch still works as before but still no deployment while driving.
  9. The Spoiler on My 1997 Boxster 2.5 does not deploy automatically while driving at any speed. My friend has verified this by driving behind me. The manual up/down button works fine though. Although there is still no light illuminated on the dashboard. Can anybody help ? ps there are no signs that the previous owner had fitted a fixed spoiler.
