  1. Berty987, Thanks so much for your reply. I just checked and my software is 1.0 PCM info is: Target: / Actual 04202JD1 / 3004 Entered: Yes Found: Yes System Software Target: / Actual: 04113AD1 / 1104 Entered: Yes Found: Yes In this menu the top three items (System , PCM , Amplifier) all have Warning Triangles listed. The Nav item has a check mark. Does this confirm that the PCM was installed improperly or that the software revision is old / it's a refurbished unit? Thanks again, STS
  2. I had the imfamous PCM Eats CD Syndrome. I took the car to my dealer and it has been replaced. Now the CD player will not recognize my existing MP3 CDs. Is there a possibility that the CD-Player in this PCM head unit is of an older generation? Perhaps there's a change I can make to the way I create CDs? Obviously, I'd be quite disappointed if I'm not going to be able to play MP3 CDs anymore. I am hoping that there's a change or setting I'm missing rather than what I suspect: PCNA / my dealer sent the wrong / old PCM head unit over. I don't have that much confidence as the techs wiped my stored locations after I told them to back that info up. They said it wasn't possible. Thanks in advance, STS
  3. Okay, do you know if they replace everything, and if that means you loose your stored addresses for NAV? Thanks again!
  4. Hi, my in-dash CD Player is acting up, it's been hot the past couple of days, so I'm wondering if it's heat related, but when I turned it on, I got the error unable to read CD. I tried ejecting an MP3 disc I made and it wouldn't eject. Only after a power off and back on of the car did it eject. I inserted a regular CD and the same error. This time it took much longer to get the CD out. Ideas? Thanks!
  5. That's an awesome resource. Thanks so much. Guess I have a Sunday project to get started on! Best regards, Scott
  6. So I was taking my brother-in-law out somewhere for a spin. Wound up needing to go to an industrial park area, truck moving towards me at a brisk pace, so I moved in tight as I made the turn. Quick rub and caught the passenger rear wheel lip. Some scuffing to the wheel. I don't want to take the wheel off the car and send it somewhere, but is there anything simple that you can do yourself to fix this while on the car" TIA, Scott
  7. Will, See to me 50K for a garage with the amenities I want seems reasonable. I was looking at commerical real estate and it's insane in my area for a building. I'm thinking I could kill 2 birds with one stone here. The 2 car idea may not be a bad way to go. I believe I have the room. I need to meet with an architect, and was hoping i could do this in phases, say shell first so that I could have a place to put the 3rd car, and then build out the upstairs in a year or so... Thanks to everyone for your comments...
  8. Hi, I'm not sure where to post this, but I'm beginning to feel the need to build a separate detached (dual purpose) garage / office. See I work out of my home and would like to have something separate so that the dog barking, baby crying, etc. doesn't disturb phone calls, etc... I also have 2 cars, my wife has 1 and we currently have a 2 car garage. My thoughts were to build a single car garage (over-sized) with a deep back for outdoor storage and have an upstairs for my office and a small media room. Has anyone undertaken something such as this? I am completely clueless, and would love to see pictures of what you've done. Originally I was thinking of doing lifts, etc. but I don't think my needs are for doing that kind of maintenance on the car, just clean, safe place to wax, stare at and enjoy... Thanks for your advice and info.. Scott
  9. I'm thinking of getting the Durametric tool, one question though: can you use this to open up the options available in the Chrono package? There are some settings I'd love to change, but I didn't see mention beyond OBC. wondering if that's the part of the OBC they're talking about... :-)
  10. Excellent, will do. Hate the idea of having to take it back in so soon, but maybe they can tackle it while I wait? Thanks again, Scott
  11. Hi, I'm the new owner of an 07 997 C4. Purchased on Friday, have just broken 100 miles and after a little bit of driving on rough pavement, I'm now noticing some creaking and (not heavy or loud) clunking. Car is a C4 with 19" Sport wheels. None of the TSBs specifically mention the 4s, so I'm not entirely sure that it's the same issue. I do notice the sound whether I move forward or backward slightly and brake on the driveway in addition to regular driving over uneven surfaces. Thanks in advance!
  12. Thanks, looks like a good number of parts and labor. Think it's do-able for a mechanically-inclined owner? Thanks
  13. Right, I'm looking to add the telephone module to a car that has PCM, but no telephone module. Is it possible? Thanks again.
  14. Loren, Are you aware of anyone who sells an installation kit to just add option 666 to a car with PCM but without the telephone module? Thanks, STS
  15. Hey Loren, I've got an '00, and have replaced the cap. All was good for a week or so, quick drives, but certainly up to temp. Today I did a longer drive (60 miles or so) and stopped the car a number of times. No leaks, then tonight I park it in my garage and BAM! on the garage floor, a nice puddle of coolant. Any ideas? Don't think it's the expansion tank since it doesn't do this EVERY time, but maybe it is. I'm just plain old confused. Thanks!
  16. Well mine leaked for a long time, drip.....drip......drip......drip for probably 2 hours. But all in all, it ws not enough to fill a saucer with coolant. (orange, I might add) It stopped, I cleaned the garage floor and drove the car for a quick tip to the cleaners. Seems to have stopped. No burning coolant smell as one would expect. Also the reservoir seems to be 7/8 full, so I will keep my eye on things until I can get the car in for some service. I need to do sparkplug changes, I'm throwing a P1139 periodically and I need a new front bumper cover, so I will bundle it all together, had hoped I could enjoy the car for the summer and then drop if off for work afterwards... :-) Thanks as always for your feedback!
  17. I just developed a leak from my coolant resivor. I know that this is a problem for the MY 99 / 00 996s. Can I drive like this for a while, I have approx 40 miles to the dealer I take it to. Thanks for your help, Scott
  18. Okay, Made a little progress. Disconnected the D8 & 9 Fuses. Didn't charge the car yesterday, started and drove it today. Seems fine. I'm going to leave them disconnected from the fusepanel. If it is the Harmon Kardon / Becker Traffic Pro. What could I have done that would cause such a rapid drain? I know I had to jumper a connector to send the signal to the amp to turn on, maybe it's not 100% right? Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks again, Scott
  19. This has been a real pain in the arse to deal with. Car dies every 2-3 days. I just removed all the add-ons I've put in. Spoiler switch, disconnected the rest of the junk the prev. owner had in there. I have a feeling it might be the Becker NAV system, so I pulled Fuses D8 and 9. See how it goes. If that's the deal, it may be that I didn't wire up the trip for the amp. I read up on the becker boards, but maybe it's just constantly on, I'm not sure now... I bought the volt meter, but it reads 0.01 no matter what I put it on. 12V, 9V battery, 1.5 Volt. I'm going to send it back. Have a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to have to get fleeced at the dealership. Strange, once charged, it starts and drives well. Stop it for a day or so and it still starts right up. VoltMeter reads 14 Volts. Thanks again for your help,
  20. Thanks ToolPants. Will try again today. With the Griot's battery protector, I've got to disconnect a couple of things here, but will give it a tray agin.
  21. Okay, so I got myself a Voltmeter. Connected the positive lead and negative leads to the battery, but I didn't disconnect it from the car. Car was sitting but the trunk light was on. Reading on 10A setting is .01 (isn't that 10 miliamps?) Should be fine right? Got the Griot's battery disconnect. Great little device. Still disconnects the battery ever 3 days or so. If I drive the car for 5-10 min and turn it off, starts right away, so I know the Alternator is fine. Any other ideas?
  22. Thanks for the helpful advice. This battery is not even a month old, and as I remember, I upgraded the cranking rating. Sounds like I've got some sort of drain here. Will try the fuse trick. Could it be the Harmon Kardon NAV system that I replaced the CDR220 with? (I'm thinking maybe I have mis-wired the power for the amp and now the amp is staying on all the time. I don't have a volt meter, but I think I may invest in one. Thanks again.
  23. Thanks for the replies... I have a trickle charger, was more or less wondering how off the mark it is to have a battery die after 5 days of sitting. This is with the alarm off, just seems like something is afoot.
  24. I have replaced my battery but it seems to die after 5 days or so of being parked. I just charged it back up, but this time I looked and removed all the "extra" electronics that are on the car from previous owners (Phazer, K-40, some other crap I don't recognize, etc...) Could there be a LoJack on the car that I'm not aware of or something else taking a draw? The Amp Meter reads between 13 and 14 volts when the car's running, so I think the alternator is okay... Thanks in advance! Scott
