  1. was recently quoted £222 for a new fob,key and programming by an OPC here in the UK !
  2. just got mine in the UK and it was as you say 996 552 339 00 01C cost £2.50 :-)
  3. glad you got it sorted matey! I assume youve never used the door locks manually before? possible they were changed at some point following an aborted break in attempt and youve got the old key? hopefully Mr P will sort it out fonally for you once again congrats!
  4. alternatively (last resort) I would assume your winscreen will be covered on insurance with a typical small excess? if you have no joy with your dealer then try silverstone porsche as they dont need to know you are in ireland rather than anywhere in the UK, I've found them very helpful so far 01327 355911
  5. its defo not your remote as mine failed last week and had to be renewed. (£140 for plastic bit and programming!) but whilst it wasnt working I could still open the doors with the key, so it must be something on the car side of things. I'm new to porsche ownership (4 days) but with most cars the deadlock scenario just means it deactivates the interior handles so if the glass is broken they have to go through the window as they cant open the door from the inside. If we have deadlocks then of course the trusted coat hanger method wouldnt work anyway. sorry i cant be of more help :-( Have you tried phoning a porsche main dealer for advice? hopefully even with porsche advice is free? !! )
  6. cant see why the keys wont open the car? I did notice on my UK Boxster that you turn the key clockwise to unlock which is the opposite of most cars I've owned?...........just a thought ;-)
  7. i'm presently fitting a similar set up (alpine sat nav) and need to locate the easiest access point to the speed pulse wire (and colour of wire) anyone know this off hand? cheers Perry
  8. Thank you my friend that is very useful. Just need to sort out the lead adaptors for the HU and speakers connections to the amp and I'm all sorted thanks again! Perry
  9. Hi Having picked up my 2000 Boxster S yesterday and cruised around for about 100 miles since then :D I now realise the sound pack she came with isnt worth a cent! dont know what upgrade it is but i have a cd player, door speakers and an amp and CD changer in the front luggage area? I would like to install a double din unit (probably kenwood touch screen) as I have an alpine sat nav system ready to go in from my old car anyway. Having done a few searches on the matter it seems that I can move the climate control switch panel down to the lower part of the dash if I use the same trim panel as the cars with PCM installed so should be able to pick this up from an OPC? If I do this and install a standard double din unit will I need any additional trim parts actually around the double din unit or will it fill the space left by the oem head unit and cliamate control fully? Also if anyone has already done this could you help me with the autoleads part numbers for ISO connection of the head unit. I also assume that I may require a lead for the speakers connections as well? Did a search for pictures of a similar install but couldnt find any that hadnt been professionally done my garages so dont know if anyone here has done rthis (I'm sure you have :notworthy: any help would of course be much appriecated as I dont really want to pay someone to do this as I would normally do this sort of thing on my previous cars (albeit not porkers!) many thanks in anticipation Perry :) (UK Boxster owner)
