  1. Is there any tool or device that can be pushed into there and we see the situation or the amount of leak there?
  2. Hello RFM: Considering the leak (in my car) is from the connection point of pipes and thermostat housing (shouldn't be a crack in pipes), and it is minor (if I drive aggressively for 1 hour and then visit the engine, I see a very light white smoke comes out next to Throttle Body for maybe 60 seconds) If you were me, would you spend the $1900 today and fix this or you would wait until it gets worse? If I do it today could that be done so careful to avoid spill over Transmission and damage to Converter Seal? What about back engine hoses? Thanks,
  3. RFM: Thank you very much. You are always helpful and explanations are always to the point. To have helped others like me to understand what and where exactly are these bypass cooling pipes, I have attached few photos. This operation nearly opens every part and gives access to many things to be replaced at this point and saves Labor cost... I heard that there are 2 hoses at the back of the engine that needs to be replaced too, because they fail and leak too... Could that be the time to have Water Pump replaced/repaired or Serpentine Belt perhaps be replaced to save labor cost in future? If this happens due to the burst of pipes, coolant fluid pour down over the Torque Converter Seal and brings about another 2K cost in short run. Could replacing these Pipes before burst be done so careful that no coolant pour down over the Torque Converter Seal? What about replacing the hoses at the back of the engine? Thank you for your time.
  4. KhmerPepperS: Why did you use spacers at all !! Let me explain my thoughts: Mine run on 8x18" OEM ones with offset of 57 and its a Cayenne S (I assume yours is CS too, so no Brake size difference) if you compare 8x18" OEM with the offset of 57 with your front wheels 8.5 x 20" (you can use: http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp) you will note that without any spacer it will push your front wheels 13mm out and inner space just reduced by 1mm, so it should be more than enough space for brakes, more than it was before and for rear wheels since they are suddenly much wider (3") that push the wheels in for 39mm and out for 37mm. So it should already be out enough to give a the better look to the car. Now, adding spacers to that, isn't that getting too much out? Maybe make sense to use Spacers for the rears if the inner space is reduced by 39mm and tire touch the body... what do you think?
  5. KhmerPepperS: you said 8.5 x 20" and 11 x 20". What is the offset on these wheels? what tire size you put on? Thanks,
  6. Thank you both for guiding. RFM: by the Plastic Cooling Pipes, do you mean the famous cooling pipes that break and could be upgraded to aluminum one? I noticed that in about 1,700 miles of driving I have lost approximately 1 liter of coolant fluid ( the reservoir was below minimum and I added coolant to it). I know that because I topped coolant up to MAX in a about 2 months ago and now it was below MIN. If there is any leak from water pump or thermostat housing, shouldn't that fall on the ground or on the tray and I see that, I do not see any hot spot under the serpentine or pulleys in that area that water drops could fall over it and burn! What am I missing? Again thanks for your time and guidelines. Reza
  7. Hello All, I was about to do some general engine inspections today that surprisingly notices a light smoke (not sure blue or white, but I think more of a blue color) was coming out from beneath the plastic cover that has the "4.5 V8" logo on it... from under the throttle body. it was like you leave a cigarette under this plastic cover and it finds its way out... I removed the plastic cover and didn't see any leak at all, every where seemed to be dry. the crankcase vent lines are all in good shape too, no crack or leak... after a minute the smoke was gone. I turned the car on again for 10 minutes and whatever I did no more smoke appeared. Is there any other pipe than the Crankcase Vents that passes in that area, specially under the throttle body and could leak over a hot part of the engine? Might that be a coolant leak? any coolant pipe there? (in the attached photo, smoke was coming out of the circle named point A) Thanks for your help.
  8. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. So the flow direction (as per the photo) would be from point B to point A and this residual fluid will be send over the pistons and burned in the cylinders, correct? The pipe was broken and I glued it in 2 positions (maybe visible in the photo) for the time being until I receive my order. It was $130. I used kind of EXTREME GLUES that can tolerate temperatures ranging -54F to 120F. I am wondering if the glue will last? I do not think there is any pressure or that much of current or fluid passing through this pipe to possibly brakes it? Do you agree?
  9. I got my CS 2004 back in October and so far I am happy with it. Cayenne is a nice car. Mine had 62K when I got it. The porsche dealers have a kind of 30 ~ 40 point inspection that cost $125 if you want to have a second opinion and someone other than your Mechanic check the car. The Drive Shaft will cost around $700 part and $400 to $500 labor to replace depending on where you are, which state maybe. I have also had the experience of noisy AC inside the cabin. I thought there is something wrong with the AC but the porsche dealer I go to checked the sound and told me that it is not abnormal, its the sound of Coolant Pump! you would hear that when: you start the engine, the AC automatically turns on, no fan is ON yet, just the AC system goes live, you would see the temperature numbers show up on the display only, Fan levels (the bars) are zero ,no bars... there you hear a WIZZZZZZZZ like sound, seems like its coming from inside the engine, driver side... you turn the fan high or low the sound is constant. unless you lower the fan level until your turn the AC system off and it writes OFF on display to get rid of the sound. I think known/experienced issues are mainly: Cooling Pipes, Drive Shaft, Plugs and Coils, Maybe Torque Converter seal (check if there is any leak underneath the car), Transfer Case Motor and some odd electrical issues that mostly happen when Battery is getting weak. Some people have experienced none of these yet some few of them !! Overall, its a fantastic car and fun to drive, specially the moment you press your foot hard on the gas to hear the roarrrrr... Good Luck.
  10. Hello Everybody: This is about my Cayenne S 2004 with 65K mile. Last night I found a thin layer of oil spread over the driver side of the engine next to the black intake pipes. I then found the Throttle Vent (pipe) in front of the engine (under the plastic cover written on it: "V8 4.5") is broken and the fluid seeps out of it over the engine head, from the very front of engine all the way to the end along side with injectors. The Vent connects Point A to B in the picture. I would like to learn what this pipe carry because the yellowish fluid seems to be mixture of oil and water that is changed to yellowish color.... I am confused as why a vent from Throttle should have oil and water in it... the fluid in the pipe was yellowish, however the oil coating on the side of engine along the Intake pipes was clear oil, dark color. I would be highly appreciated if someone could explain what it is? Thank you.
  11. I did both front and rear differential oil change at Porsche dealer here in Minnesota and they used this oil as per the invoice: PVP000400 HYPOID OIL 7950 MOBIL However, For the Transmission and transfer case they used the Porsche recommended ones.
  12. I talked to the dealer (as you know my reason/surprise was why they did charge me for 6 liter than 8 liter since the full flush/change should accommodate 8 liter in). They stated that the fluid container they use has always have some fluid in it from previous work/fluid change and so they have added some to the container and I am charged just for the amount added and not what totally used/filled in my CS transmission !! Although seems odd that they do not charge the customer for everything they have used ( the 2 liter itself cost around $90). In addition, their technician/supervisor said: "we have learned/experienced that even half a quart less than the full amount will make transmission not to work smoothly. You would not have smooth gear changes. so if your gears are changing smooth and flawless then be assured that it is full and complete procedure is followed".
  13. Thanks Jagman1. I actually left the car in Porsche dealer workshop and they did the job. When I got my invoice I saw that I am charged for 6 liter of ATF fluid, I asked myself why this is not for 8 liter? Maybe they didn't fill it properly (fully)! On the other hand I tried to convince myself that they should know these stuff by heart and this should not be their first time. Maybe I should get back to them and check if they really followed the procedure! So, could you finally fill it up with the 8 liter?
  14. Hello everyone, I just got my CS2004 fluids changed @ 64K miles (Transmission + ATF Filter, Transfer case, Front and Rear differential). I bought the car recently and was not feeling good until I do these changes considering the life of the transmission is very much depending on its fluid! so i did that at 64K rather recommended 120k miles. Anyway, they could fill up the transmission with only 6 liter of fluid where as the manual says change will be 8 liter. I am now afraid if there is not enough fluid in the transmission that could cause foaming inside !! I know that there will always be some oil remaining in Torque Converter and Cooling Pipes that never flush but could that be 3 liter of fluid so that they added only 6 litter? (I think the total capacity is 9 liter)? Has anyone done this to inform how many liter they filled in? Thanks in advance.

HEllo Stealth: I am wondering how your project went on? seems like the connectors on the back of CDR23 are exactly same as connectors on PCM2.1, so you could easily connect the new unit to the wires. With that you could have Radio and CD, Could yo ufinally make the phone and Navagation works?

    Thanks,

    Reza
