  1. The relevant page from the Cayenne manual on manually releasing the transmission. Pages from _688_05CayenneT_owners (3).pdf
  2. I had a software update on the airbags and HP fuel pump replacement carried out by the dealer last year on my '09 GTS. Nothing on fuel injectors.
  3. Please see below extract from the owners manual. "Tires should be replaced no less than on one axle at the time. Only tires of the same make and type must be used. Mixed tires are not permissible and will affect vehicle performance, safety, and can affect vehicle warranty. Tires must always remain on the same side of the vehicle. When wheels are removed, the direction of rotation and position of each wheel should be marked. If new tires are installed only on one axle, a noticeable change in handling occurs due to the different tread depth of the other tires. This happens especially if only rear tires are replaced. However, this condition disappears as the new tires are broken in." so no problem swapping front to rear as long as you kep the tyres on the same side of the vehicle. The only thing you have to be careful of when using a tyre shop for tyre replacement, make sure they know how to switch off the air suspension.
  4. My computer shows an overall consumption 15.9L/100km whilst the actual overall is 16.7L/100km. This is in tune with every other Porsche trip computer I have seen.
  5. My GTS consistenly shows substantially lower consumption on the computer than actual.
  6. To be accurate the entire block is cast from the alloy Alusil in a low pressure die-casting process. The cylinder honing process exposes the primary silicon crystals which are distributed throughout the alloy and as such no additional hardening is necessary. My own feeling is that since the majority of these occurences seem to occur in isolated single cylinders that the problem may actually be due to the introduction of foreign bodies through the spark plug orifice.
  7. Replaced KESSY module now OK No resolution. within normal limits apparently. Never happened again This was actually a dodgy EGR valve and is cure after a long wait for the part which was not available locally. Car is running wonderfully again...for the time being!
  8. I think that you have to look at the history of the particular car you are driving; for the first 6 months of ownership my 05 CTT maintained its temperature at all times just to the left of the 80C mark, now it doesn't so for me there has been a change and implicitly a departure from the norm. Still doesn't concern me too much, but I am intrigued as to why!
  9. I have slightly different symptoms here in 40-50 deg Dubai. My gauge will maintain a left of centre 80 deg when stopped or in traffic. When maintaining any reasonable speed it will also maintain that position, any application of the throttle which involves a little turbo boost will result in a rise in temp about 5-10 deg which will drop down again when a constant speed is resumed. Strange behaviour for me!
  10. I've had my 05 CTT for 10 months and it has done the same thing at every cold start since I bought it through new tyres and old. The symptom has neither gotten worse or manifested itself at any other time, I figured it was a peculiarity of cold hydraulic fluid and the PS pump/ servo.
  11. I guess since I have a collapsible spare wheel and a Bose Subwoofer that I don't have a second battery.
  12. Don, Pretty sure I don't have 2 batteries but to be honest I haven't checked, will take a look tomorrow morning. thanks.
  13. Some time ago the Kessy slowly died, a gradual deterioration until touching the door handles no longer unlocked the doors. The car is still keyless inside with a very rare "Key Not Found" or "Key Not Recognised" warning. This happens with both keys and both keys will still open the doors remotely from about 20m - 30m. Initially suspected the (Car) battery but got 14V at the terminals under the bonnet with engine off and figured that was OK. I decided to leave the problem solving until next service as it was no great inconvenience. A couple of months ago the water temp gauge actually started to react, instead of being constant just to the left of the 80C mark it would make brief excursions to the right hand side, when applying some power, but never getting near to the 100C mark. Nothing there to be concerned about other than it was a change from the norm. Suspiscions were; dirty radiators, thermostat not opening fully, or faulty sensor. Yesterday, parking sensor display giving random double reds whilst stopped in open ground before and after washing. Today, started noticing some rough gear changes then after a while on the transmission display on the dash PRND were all selected simultaneously and the gear engaged was not shown. Transmission still operated in auto, manual and tip with rough changes but the display would not reset until I stopped the car and restarted. After about 10 mins the same business started again. No fault lights have illuminated during any of these events. Do I consider general electrical failure or perhaps the battery is faulty or I have a bad earth somewhere? No problems at all with starting. Any bright ideas other than
  14. Not really, Viton is generally selected as an alternative to Buna-N in sealing applications where resistance to particular chemicals and or high temperatures are required, it is not generally selected for its mechanical properties. Something like Neoprene or even Sorbothane might be more appropriate for this application as Sorbothane is designed particularly with shock absorption and vibration dampening in mind. Just a thought.
  15. I have the same thing but it's on the outside where the humidity is, windscreen wipers clear it.
