  1. I thought about it too (I wanted to also switch the back light with the brake light). But I gave up mainly for security issue as I figure that if I just slice into the cable while keeping the wiring intact(say at the back of the tail light), I'll have the risk of having the brake light always on if inadvertently switching the rear fog on...
  2. Thanks for sharing your miss-fortune Jinster. I was about to change my cap (blue color but ending with 01) as a precautionary measure but since temperature keeps below 85C and I don't have leak, I'll pass on this one but will keep an eye.
  3. Have you tried to replace the bulb? Then you could also check the bulb receptacle and make sure that the bulb is not loose. Check the bulb spec (5W), you don't want to use higher power than recommended because heat could damage the plastic.
  4. I might have find a way to deal with the polarity issue on the BA15 base through the use of base adaptor: Polarity should not be an issue as I will be able to rotate the led 180 deg... BA15 base LED is not very popular in Japan anyway (I only had few choices) so this base adaptor is looking promising (so far). Any advise welcome.
  5. Tks wwest for your suggestion. I've removed all bulbs from the Left Rear Light and put in 2 LED (brake & tail)...and it still won't work. Using electrical cable, I confirmed that polarity needs to be somewhat "reversed" for the LED to light-up (I need + on the bottom and - on the side) Those are BA15S so I cannot switch them 180deg to reverse polarity. Diodes are used to convert AC to DC, when my issue is polarity: is there still a way to use diode to solve this problem?
  6. While looking for leds, I read that a "colored lens will filter out all but the colored portion of the light" So my lens being red, I'm using red led so that a "smaller amount of light will be blocked by the lens". Here is the reference: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fcarbulb-notes.htm As to why the led doesn't work, I suspect that it is a polarity issue but I'm still waiting for a confirmation from the forum (I don't have voltmeter).
  7. Just realized how stupid I was trying to reverse polarity by turning the led 180deg  I checked the leds with a battery and they work fine. The + is at the bottom of the LED : is that the correct polarity for the brake light of a 02 Boxster? Or should I get LED with reversed polarity (- on the bottom)?
  8. Just bought 2 BSLE13 LED for the brakelight http://en.item.rakuten.com/caraz2/bsle13/ and none would light-up. I tried to rotate them 180deg, change position to other BA15S receptacle, but it won't work. What did I miss?
