  1. From my VW days I seem to remember that the oil temp must be something like 80C before it can start to burn off the moisture in it.
  2. The seat can be just unbolted and pushed onto the rear seat. I leave the electrics hooked to the seat then I never worry about loosing any settings. After the seat is out of the way you must remove the lower seat mount and then the battery is under a plastic cover containing a integral vent. It's very straight forward to replace just a little more work then normal. I also use a memory saver hooked to the battery jumping points under the drivers trim panel located under the front hood. Make sure to remove the ignition key... don't leave it in as it can power up accessories. I believe there is also a TSB on the alternator wiring harness for the V8's that cause intermittent charging problems.
  3. I believe on post '05 models the day time running light has to be turned on in the front light control module using the PIWIS tester as other have stated.
  4. Welcome to the forum, there are loads of knowledgeable people on here that will be glad to help you out with any questions.
  5. If the battery is tested and found to be sound then measure the amp draw of the starter when hot.
  6. Any more information for those of us that have no idea what a stepper motor is or what it does?
  7. Glad you got your pics sorted. That doesn't look good, coolant/oil mix by any chance??
  8. Why can't you use a Mac?? I have a PowerBook G4 and have never had any problems loading pics on websites although I haven't on Renntech as of yet.
  9. Could you post any pics? It doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary, what did the garage that did the inspection say about the rust??
  10. You will find oil in the intake manifold.... excessive amounts can be a failing/failed AOS but it's accompanied with other symptoms such as smoke at start up,poor idle, check engine light and the like. Don't fix what isn't broken as my father would often say. Keep an eye on things and if they get worse investigate the problem then.
  11. Oil will often sweat from the joints in the intake manifold. If your not using oil or excessive smoking from the exhaust I wouldn't worry about it.
  12. Can you clear these codes or do any reappear if you did clear them? Are the unknown ones located in the DME or did you find them in a different module like instrument cluster or something?
  13. Did they reset the kickdown point or adaption settings when the PST2 was hooked up? Thats the next step to take after checking the fluid level. And try to stay away from 7,000 RPM..... not good.
  14. Sounds like the clutch master cylinder is by-passing internally.... best to replace the master and slave then flush the entire hydraulic system.
  15. Any reason you didn't use an OEM plug??
  16. Wheel bearing/tire noise is very deceptive at times. What is the condition of the rear tires? The cheapest route is to see if you can swap rear tires with someone else.
  17. So not only more HP but better MPG... I'm sure the emissions are lower also. Those guys at GM must not know what they are doing.
  18. Any coolant loss? Possible heater core starting to fail.
  19. Very nice Xmas present to yourself.... what options are on the car and any chance of some pics of the interior?
  20. Most block heaters are installed as a dealer cold weather option. I'll have a look it see what fits on the VR6 but for some reason I think they use a stick on oil pan heater.
  21. What looks ok to you? I think it's a scam....
  22. I agree that it's the timing chain tensioner.... I thinks it's normal and nothing to worry about.
