  1. I haven't upgraded the fog lamps but if you do, be very careful you don't buy any of that cheap Asian stuff that is out there on eBay, etc. Buy a quality lamp and you'll be fine. In actuality, I just upgraded my low beam xenon lamps to a Philips pure yellow lamp (D2S) that they used to use in Europe. Very hard to find and rather pricy too. I always liked the look of the yellow headlamp but didn't want to put that cheap yellow tint on my headlamp covers. I know a lot of people don't like it but I do for some strange reason. Forgot to attach the picture.
  2. What does Polaris charge for the oil analysis including TBN Mijostyn? I've used Blackstone.
  3. By all indications, it looks like the dealer gave me the wrong part number for my 08C2S.2005 Porsche's came with D2S as jl-c indicated he has but with newer modeis, the switch was made to D1S.
  4. I just talked to a Porsche dealer and told them my 08C2S came with xenon lamps. The gave me the part # 99963103690 which when I did an Internet search shows it as a D2S lamp not a D1S lamp as I was told by a well respected automotive lighting company. Anyone know if this is fact besides jl-c mentioning his 05 has D2S? I guess the last resort is I could remove my headlamp and look...
  5. search TPMS sensors on this site and you'll see where I had sent a link to buy them (I forgot where, too old HA).
  6. Thanks Loren. I did check out salvage companies and e-Bay and either way, people want at minimum, $100.00 even for a damaged unit (chips around the edge, etc.).
  7. Not sure jl-c. I've been told I have D1S but then I haven't looked either.
  8. Loren, inside the housing and just in front of the low beam bulb, there is a cicular lense (concave) about 3" in diameter. Trying to see if this lense is available as a seperate item. I did try the dealer and as you said, Porsche does not provide internal parts to them beyond the bulb.
  9. 08C2S. Anyone know where I can get an exploded diagram of the 997 headlamp that shows its internal components?
  10. Have an 08C2S. Has anyone ever converted their D1S bulb to a D2S bulb with XE-Spark igniter? Wondering if everything fits OK and it doesn't throw out any error codes. Thanks in advance.
  11. Thanks gentlemen! My wife lives at Costco and me on Amazon so I'll check it out.
  12. While I know Chevron has Techron in their gas, what exactly are you using before every oil change and where do you get it? Thx,
  13. Plugs were replaced during the major service. As for fuel, I only run Chevron 91 octane and have since new. Refueling happened this past weekend and I refuel at the same Chevron station by my house all the time (or at least 90% but still buy Chevron). And it is possible the problem started just after the last fill up. I'm down to 1/2 tank so I will buy more gas this weekend and keep an eye on it. Thx...
  14. So. California car (so it is not cold outside) and have an 08C2S w/37,000 miles, major service completed 6 months ago. Past two days in a.m. when starting the car in the morning that for about 15-20 seconds the idle seems a little rough. Back out of drive and take off for work and all is fine. Possible rough idle issue might be? Thanks in advance.
  15. Apparently that was a viable option! I think I need to read my PCM manual once again. Thanks for the insight!
  16. Good point PTEC. Didn't think of that and the dealer wasn't able to duplicate the issue. I've got five months to catch it in the act again. Thanks...
  17. I also have a random issue with the display screen on my 08 C2S. Sometimes when I start the car the radio will play but the screen is totally black. I've pushed the upper righthand button that will black the screen out and then turn it on and nothing. I've also powered the unit off and on and nothing. Moments later, viola and it will display everything normally. Maybe I should somehow convince my dealer to exchange the unit out before my CPO runs out?
  18. Mijostyn, Although this has moved away from the topic, what is your best method of applying the touch up paint. I've actually used toothpicks before. After touch up, do you polish, color sand or? Thanks,
  19. Interesting comment from the dealer today when I asked them about the fluctuation in my electronic dipstick. They said to measure it when hot not cold. When I mentioned what the owners manual said about checking the level when cold, the service guy just sort of laughed and said once again to measure when hot; just as Mijostyn said:-)
  20. Thanks for the input guys. I always check my oil level in the morning before venturing out to work (same level parking space in my garage) and it just bugged me that one morning it was down a bar and the next morning it was pinned at the top. Give me a dipstick any day but in the mean time, I thought I might ask my dealer to install a new device while I still have my CPO.
  21. Is the readout for oil you see on your dash guage fed by a sensor of some sort? On initial startup, sometimes the reading is completely full and at other times on startup, the reading is a bar or two low. I was just wondering how this oil level reading comes about. P.S. Oil was just changed so I know the right amount went into the engine. Thx,
  22. I just had my factory sensor on the front left go bad. I stopped by my local independent shop and sure enough it was bad with the other three registering very little life as well. Was looking in to the replacements when the shop owner said "I think they are covered under warranty" (which I didn't even consider). Contacted my local Porsche dealer and they put 4 new ones on under my CPO. For any with a CPO and TPMS issue/s call your local dealer first. I was surprised.....
  23. Mijostyn, just looked at Blackstone's website about TBN, and it was an additional charge for the readout that I did not pay. Didn't know it was critical and not knowing too much about oil, I didn't request it. Maybe next time. Thanks again for the heads up.
