  1. Just got it... Whoooaaaa... I love that deep groan from the exhaust :-) A quick notice here: the "basic" (no changer and no PCM) audio head unit is NOT compatible with MP3 CD-s!
  2. Just got a message from the local dealer that my new Box has arrived. I have ordered it on the 4th of Aug so the estimated 14 weeks delivery time was more-or-less used up. I'll pick it up tomorrow morning at 10, dunno if I will sleep at all this night :D The car is "nothing special", a seal gray S with gray Alcantara interior, black top, Bose, Sport steering wheel, 6spd manual and painted wheel hubcaps :P My original plan was a red one with beige interior but the dealer "strongly recommended" to abandon the idea. He used the words "this is not America, you won't be able to sell it later". Unfortunatley, the weather turned bad (foggy and cold), no top-downs for a while... And yes, I'm nervous if it will fill the gap remained in my heart after selling my 2004 supercharged track-Miata  I'll post pics if anyone would like to see those... (MY06, left assembly line on 12th October)
  3. Why not to order the plate as a replacement part and cut a hole / glue a mesh? But still can't see if this is any better than SYC4S's "light" mod? (pictures on his page)
  4. I have ordered mine on 6th August and the passenger airbag bypass switch was still a BTO option...
  5. Just curious: anyone ever dynoed this mod? Based on these pictures the restrictor plate seems pretty much restrictive... Maybe a few HP gains here after removal?!
  6. Hi Britairdog, Just received my owner's manual on a CD from Porsche (issue May 2005, generic European, still waiting for the car itself) and found the following on page 12: "Tips for running in: The following tips will be helpful in obtaining optimum performance from your new Porsche. Despite the most modern, high-precision manufacturing methods, the "wearing in" of moving parts with each other cannot be completely avoided. This wearing occurs mainly in the first 3,000 km (1,865 miles). During the first 3,000 km (1,865 miles) you should: - preferably take longer trips - avoid frequent cold start with short-distance driving whenever possible - Not participate in motor racing events, sports driving schools or similar. - Avoid high engine speeds, especially when the engine is cool." Nothing about RPMs and WOTs... Seems to me that Porsche has a different approach to different markets: in the US they may want to break-in the drivers, in the UK they want to protect the engine, on other parts of the world... they just don't want to look too odd with their running-in instructions... :) You pay heavy bucks here (100kUSD or so) for a BoxS, would feel somewhat crazy to drive it like a soccer mom's minivan for a few thousand miles :)))
  7. Just a quick and uneducated guess from Europe: because these expensive sport cars are almost exclusively corporate-owned the German IRS came up with this gadget to control "private" use of these cars. If your company owns a car you may use it for your private trips but have to have a logbook about these miles and pay extra tax (and the running costs for these miles are non-tax-deductible). This little gizmo will spy on you - and is said to be required by law in every non-private owned car from the next year...
  8. Kevin, Thanks and congratulations from me too :clapping: As soon as my S will arrive this Oct will do this mod :) I have noticed that the snorkel tube can not be found on the explosed view from the service manual. Is it a later add-on? If so then what is the purpose behind?! (Noise? Intake airflow enhancement?)
