  1. Hello all... I saw this ad on ebay for a porsche chip tuning by in motion (an austrian company) for a great price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORS...944-968-996-997 BOXTER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33597QQitemZ8062141228QQrdZ1QQsspagena meZWDVW I know you get what you pay for but has anyone every used or heard of these guys?
  2. for us with the tip the ssk is obviously not an option any recs on giac/evo dealers in the washington dc area?
  3. I also have a 99 C2 (6speed) that I insatlled the EVO intake on. I sent my ECU off to AWE tuning and had the GIAC upgrade flashed in. $1000. I'm sure you already know that 20 or so hp gains are claimed with this combination. I've never had a dyno done so I can't verify. I can say that I like the results. You get a bit better throttle response at take-off because the flat spot is gone! It feels like better torgue. The biggest difference is a bit harder to quantify. The best way I can descride it is that the car feels grittier. In a good way! And the obvious awsome sound that the EVO intake provides at high rpms. My only caution does relate to the intake. Over oiling will mess up your MAF. (You know what that is because you had to transfer it to the new intake). I had mine go bad about 4K miles after installing the intake. That's with whatever amount of oil came on the filter because I have yet to re-oil it (after 6K). MAF replacement included a lecture from the dealer about aftermarket air intakes voiding the warranty on the new part. Otherwise, no regrets. how often do you have to oil this thing i purchased my unit used about 6 months ago and i have never re-oiled it im kind of afriad to because of the maf problems
  4. Hello All I have a 99 c2 tip with evo cold air intake..... wondering if anyone has done the obd ii chip reprogramming to increase hp? i am thinking about doing this but would love to hear form others about 1. How to do it? 2. cost? 3. tuner used? 4. if you felt it was worth it? thanks in advance
  5. Hello all! Thinking about tinting my windows on my 99 c2 arctic silver c2. has anyone done this? what perecentage tints have people used- the installer i am using says to go as dark as legal. dont know if i want to go that dark! thanks in advance!
  6. i recently had the eclipse avn 2454 double din installed in my car, the climate control and storage cubby moved down. it looks money. the eclipse units are really pretty cool. their nav system interface is one of the best i have ever used. i also hooked up 8 disc changer in the front trunk. the unit has a bult in dash cd player. i also hooked up xm to it. it also has a dvd player with dolby digital 5.1 (i will never use this but i have to admit it sounds awesome through the audison amps and focal polyglass with the 5ws subs.) the unit has 6 dsp settings (i never use) and a dsp sound field modulator to optimize stereo imaging to any spot in the car. i have been VERY impressed with this unit eclipse customer support sucks so make sure you have guts and kind of know what you are doing with the install. i am happy to help anyone who asks. overall it looks amazing. people keep telling me how oem it looks. i am ver happy with the result! if anyone can tell me how to post pics, ill take some today and put them up. cheers
  7. thanks loren thanks david i would be interested in seeing how it goes because i would love to do this in my 99 c2
  8. loren, is it possible to put an interior dimming mirror in a 99 c2 easily and if so, how? thanks
  9. Hello all Considering purchasing and having this system installed in my 99 c2.... does anyone have any experience with it (good or bad)? i have heard it is pretty amazing and the bluetooth allows for a stealth installation.
  10. I would REALLY appreciate a DIY and an idea of total cost I am VERY interested in doing this on my '99 c2!!!! please give all the info you can...
  11. thanks everyone ill be getting some tonight! why do people do it with the oil change? (this may be a stupid question)
  12. Hello all... Has anyone ever used the type of engine/injector cleaner that you add to the gasonline tank in their 996's before- one of the better brands like duratech, penzoil, etc? I used them quite often with my last 3 land rovers with great (and i mean awesome) results. the cars ran so much smoother. any thoughts on this?
  13. just do it! you will save a few dollars and it is actually kind of fun. plus the kevin's or the "genius" manuver is worth trying. make sure you duct tape the dash
  14. i did this swap about 3 weeks ago there is NO question in my mind that the money trick is using a soldering iron to pop the screws "back" that being said, make sure you get all the screws out of the dash so they dont rattle while driving like they did for me. whoever had this idea for the iron is a genius. if anyone neds any guidance feel free to pm me. the new dash strips look MUCH nicer i have mine in arcitve silver to match the exterior.
  15. You guys are great thanks for the information. one if the installer who was going to do this said that for the porsche i need to buy a separate $200 speed sensor- this did not make a lot fo sense to me. at any rate, after i thought about it for a bit- I will likely be taking it to the local porsche stereo shop that I trust (Hurley's in McLean, VA) They put in my other stereo (planet audio amps, focal 5ws subs, focal polyglass mids/tweeter) so i need to make sure it all "mates" well Plus i am sure i will need some custrom trim parts to make it all look oem. i will post pics as soon as it is done! thank again!
  16. Hello all, Planning on putting this unit in my 99 c2 tiptronic. Does anyone know here the speed sensor wire is or the speed sensor itself (or if the car even has one) Has anyone had to find this wire in installing this or other units? does anyone have any guidance on actually doing the install (from experience or otherwise!) thanks in advance! -Dipak
  17. is there any way to avoid this problem? i plan on installing my new wheel and airbag this weekend and really do not want to have to take it to a dealer to reset the light
  18. mine is tiptronic i have heard that the mod for the radio volume works very well. thanks for the link!
  19. Jason, i would love that same pm putting in an aluminium wheen this weekend! thanks! -Dipak
  20. i have done the swap in my 99 c2 in terms of power- the difference is not noticeable personally, i like the way the engine sounds with the evo in place i had a similar situation in that i got a very good deal on one so the cost was not much of an issue install was a snap- so i figured i could always take it off. i put it on and it is still on do it for the more audible whine of the engine. i love that sound it is why i keep coming back to porsches i used ot have an air-cooled 911 and it sounds more like that to me so on it stays. hope this helps
  21. i have the same question.... how much did it cost you?
  22. what is the best way to clean the maf? i agree- it probably does not do a whole lot in terms of performance but it sure sounds cool. and i got it for free- so my wallet is not that much lighter. :)
