Here is a link to the spark plug procedure that Loren posted. I removed the mufflers which was a simple process. I have not done the water pump yet.

I just went through this issue with our '05 Cayenne in our new house. This is what I learned but YMMV - If your opener is a Liftmater you will need a repeater to get Homelink to operate. The repeater is available from Amazon http://tinyurl.com/jskh69q. The door on my shop has a Liftmater but I have not tried this yet. Our main garage door has a Genie Opener. Genie provides a good PDF on their website on Homelink programming but I could never get it to work. Our remote is a G3T-R 3 button. Genie gives you a procedure so the Homelink will recognize this remote. I could never get that procedure to work even though the LEDs on the remote indicated that it had. There was a suggestion on one of the forums to use a different GTR-3 remote. Also available from Amazon http://tinyurl.com/hj5mc4e. I paid the $22 and ordered the remote. I had wasted hours trying to make Homelink work. With the new remote I was successful in less than 30 seconds. I just got the 996 out of winter storage. I will try to program the Homelink later this week. Eric -
I have what I believe to be an OEM wing on my '99 cabrio. From what I have been able to determine it may have been a dealer installed option.

Success. I found a bad fuse - B2 in my case. I also found a link from Typhon Scroll down toward the bottom of the thread. There is also a fuse on the back of the PCM unit that can cause the same symptoms. Eric -

The dealer suggested that I check the antenna connection. It was OK. I also disconnected the battery again and reentered the radio and nav. codes. I am still having the problem. I will check all of the fuses next. Eric -
I have a new to me '99 cab with the PCM 1. About a month ago I installed a Solisto iPod adapter and replaced the Nav unit with a shelf. Everything looked as expected. Last week I replaced the battery. I entered the code for the radio and the code was accepted but no frequencies show on the audio menu. I cannot set any of the radio frequencies and the CD is not recognized. The rest of the functions like the trip computer and AC page look normal. I have searched numerous forms and found one case with identical symptoms but no responses. I looked in The Essential Companion without much luck and there is nothing in the owner's manual. I have not been able to find a PCM 1 manual in hard copy or online. Can anybody provide any suggestions? I have a road trip planned in a week and would appreciate any information. Eric
