  1. Not silcon. Try a bucket of warm soapy water. Strear clear of the electricals stuf. Wipe dry with towels and compressed air if you want PK
  2. I've thought about the exact same thing. It sure would beat the price of custom pistons. There's a few guys around with turbos. They didn't pay 20k though, more like 10k (I think). That’s a whole kit and caboodle; complete with all the tuning done (timing, injection, etc.). With intercooling or Wi (water/alcohol injection you can get about 6 psi or about 80 odd more hp. The most an un-intercooled setup seems to be able to take is 4.5 psi. I’ working on boosting my supercharger boost with WI. Mine has a separate (AIC) piggyback controller for a 7th injector tuning. I’ll probably replace it with a better one with timing control …not looking forward to mapping it from scratch though. Regards, PK P.S. If your looking to cob it together yourself, Split Second make a AIC fore Boxsters with some level of tuning done. Handle timing and injector control. Programmable with a pc
  3. Hello, I’m looking for the specs for a Bosch injector. I’m adding H20/meth injection to my supercharged Porsche. To calculate the h2O/meth injector size I need the size of my fuel injectors. Any body know a reference source? I have the injector model #:0280150455 or W0133-1646566 Thanks, PK
  4. Sure, you can have a new window put in, about $200 (I think). Figure you’ll go through 2 windows, 3-4 years each, then you’ll be ready for a new top. If the vinyl windows still in good shape, you might be able to just have it re-stitched PK
  5. You can buy "heavy duty" Velcro strips at a hardware or fabric store. Use some flexible epoxy to put the velcro on...you'll live. PK
  6. BTDT thrice. Submerged completely 2. You can do it as long as you get it out within a day or 3, scrub the board of with fine wire brush. Give cable conectors a good cleaning....Drills holes in the floor(gasp). Never know whem you'll find the leak or when you'll get another. PK Yes prime the holes too.
  7. Pretty sure thats the way it's supposed to work. Beleive it say's just that in the owners manual. Pk
  8. I have stock 18” turbo twists with 15mm & 5mm spacers and no problems. I’ve heard 20mm is the semi-official limit (for bearing life). I don’t see much of a possibility for interference if I had an extra 5mm in the rear, but wouldn’t bet on it. It’s really a question of the offset of you wheels. If there’re stock you shouldn’t have any problems with 8mm & 15mm. Lugs bolts are nasty at about $4.50 a pop. If you’re handy with a lath you can put together a whole set a lot less. Also beware of Ebay universal spacers, they work but are a pain to align perfectly. If you don’t, they shake and shimmy all over. Regards, PK
  9. I bought a side clip from them and a lot of small stuff. No problems, arrived on time at the right place. Once they sent me a left instead rt part, they just sent me another. Definitely the best prices in CA at the time. I’m contemplating buying a transmission from them. They always seemed pretty straight-up to me. Regards, PK
  10. In general , it would be very unlikely that all of anything would go wrong at once. Far more likely that something they all share in common is amiss. My 2 cents, PK
  11. My enquiry was “are you just winGing" it as far as acoustics go. I’m glad you’re winning just the same. Cross-overs are "electronic" by nature (what else, made of bark?, powered by water?) and a forgone conclusion. I thought maybe you had something new up your sleeve in that they were "electronic". Haven’t messed with speakers in a long time, my mistake. PK
  12. K&N filters are controversial. As are EVO’s. Some one here did some very well regulated test with a cone filter and for $300+ he got a whopping 2 hp. I wanted one to, seemed to make sense with my super charger but until I see some good hard evidence I’m sticking with the stock. Porsche has done a pretty good job on the intake and exhaust. Many aftermarket headers and the like do nothing and in some cases worse than stock as evidenced by the controversy Regards, PK
  13. Are you winging the acoustic design? I've did design (aesthetic) work for Harmon Kardon & JBL some years ago. The "tweaks" (acoustic engineers) put one elluva lot of time into tuning the shape of the boxes, porting, cones, magnets, insulation, proportions, etc, etc. (Truth is, I never quite developed the ear the tweaks had.) Thinking about joining some audiophile forums, see if I can find someone to help converting my rear storage box into a Bose like sub. Probably a good trick. Interesting about the powered x-over. Never heard of it. What exactly does it do that a normal x-over doesn’t? Good luck, PK
  14. LOL. I'm in Tustin. Bound to be some Santa Ana & Costa mesa, but I’ve little experience with them. But, a friend of mine (John) has a shop in Torrance called Torrance upholstery. I can tell you that he knows the cars well and is VERY meticulous. Tell him his rival from CSULB sent you and he might cut you a deal. Regards, PK
  15. A friend of mine in the upholstery biz tells me there’s really 3 grades of canvas. German being the best (he’s not a p-car snob with only German air in his tires, in fact he drives a wrx) There’s also of course the issue of quality I suppose for references this is the best you can do. Regards, PK
  16. Funny I had that thought to, another reason for heating it up and letting the little bones fall where they may. Not like having incineration on the heater core, BTDT. PK
  17. It does seem extreme. Couldn’t hurt anything though, to put it in neutral and let it idle up to temp. You’d at least know if it were a temperature issue. Engine heat should warm the trans. up enough. Regards, PK (leave the garage door open please)
  18. I'm with you on your tool ost to repair bill theroy, dad took to an extreme with a full lift, wheel balancer, smog sniffer etc, etc. ... and cars weren't his vocation I use vise-grips adjusted right. Stilll a pain though. Theres a guy on ebay that sells all sorts of specialty auto tools. Search "tamper proof" under ebay motors and you'll probally find him. PK
  19. Did you warm it up well? PK
  20. Bizzare. Long head bolts (or studs) sure, old bugs had heads falling off all the time. Helicoils were on everyone’s service record. Porsche, dunno… but can’t imagine why not. I’d be concerned as to why. PK
  21. Tire shack online has a pretty good consumer based rating system that includes noise for all their tires, Consumer reports also had a HP tire roundup, a pdf of which is floating around these forums somewhere. PK
  22. Loren certainly knows his stuff, I'd add though that if your going to replace, why not try some force first? Ziltch to loose. My experience with vintage stuff is; If you can get it to move at all by whatever means, even just a little, keep working it back and forth with WD40. Gradually it will move more and more till its at it's full travel. Then keep working it till it smooth and easy. Nice raps, some heat from a little torch can help…Not in the book I know, but a frozen valve is a frozen valve. PK
  23. I'm pretty sure it is a Schraeder valve, As to the o-ring, I'm with you, if it didn't leak before and you didn't ding it... If you did, you can allways go to a Seals Supplier and they'll probably give it to you. PK
  24. Supercharged, and ya its in and screaming,. Still got an number of irritating bugs to shake out, don't wander to far from home yet. I haven't gotten used to the strange torque curve. It,s really easyto get way sidways at low revs & moderate to hard throttle. Weird Over all though it's just competent. No turbo like whiplash but it just it feels strong, always,,,,, and stomped on, it just squirts around and before you know it everybody's in your rear view. Regards, PK
  25. Thats interesting, on a boxster? Wonder if it's online. THanks PK
