  1. Esteemed Porsche People, GGR is in need of volunteers for our 4 day event at Laguna Seca....your volunteer time can be for a few hours, a day, or the whole weekend...this is your chance to see the inner workings of a major PCA Club Race and be up close and personal with everything from Vintage Porsche racers to brand new Cayman CS and 911 991.2 Cup Cars, we have arranged for a 103 dB weekend so you will get to enjoy the sights and sounds of real Porsche race cars! There will be openings for 1)Scrutineer’s assistant(s) 2)Scales workers 3)Grid workers, to assist gridding race cars prior to entering track 4)Hospitality workers, to make sure volunteers and participants have food and water during each day of work or driving. 5)Steward’s assistant. See the real inner workings of a big Club Race 6)Racecontrol’s assistant. Same as #5 7)Timing assistant(s) Same as #5 8)Registration of participants. Especially Wednesday afternoon, early evening, Thursday all day and possibly for a while on Friday. 9) And others I am sure I have forgotten or will be added. Whether you have experience with this sort of event or your first time, there will be people there to get you up to speed and have a good time! So many of you former Club Racers, significant others of same, or someone new to the club...please consider spending some quality time with GGR and your favorite car marque. We will be taking volunteers from all over the PCA universe...so come on and join us for a weekend of fun. Any of my good friends (I am sure there are at least a few of you??). Even if you are not a PCA member, we have room to get you involved too...
  2. I did a similar modification to my stock cans as shown in post#9. Inexpensive, excellent exhaust note, no drone, not excessive during normal acceleration, does not need a computer reflashing, does not cause a CEL illumination. And it was cheap and easy! Sounds awesome when you are really on it after about 3500 rpms!
  3. Well, my solution to this issue was to purchase a completely fresh set of factory 18" Turbo1 hollow spoke wheels for my car. Sitting in boxes in the garage yntil I decide on my Street/AX tires for next season. :)
  4. I am planning on running some non-OE tire diameters on my 996 coupe for track and AX duty. Is there a % difference front to rear that effects the function of the ABS...? What is the largest % difference I can run without confusing the ABS? I'm planning on 245x40x17 front with overall diameter of 24.7" 265x40x17 rear with overall diameter of 25.4" Thanks
  5. Or just have them done locally like I did... Worked perfectly, no shipping and the sound is wonderful....finally sounds like a Porsche instead of a sewing machine :)
  6. What I am trying to convey, is that I have found rear wheels that have both of the numbers on the back. They are stamped with both the 9" and 10" markings. On the same wheel
  7. What I was trying to say that both of those numbers are supposedly on the back of the rear wheels. That doesn't make any sense... I am still waiting for clear pics to confirm. Very strange
  8. Has anyone seen a rear wheel with two sets of numbers on the back? 993.362.138.00 9jx18-ET52 993.362.140.01. 10jx18-ET65 These are wheels I have found on CL, and they are supposedly stamped with both sets of numbers. Waiting for pics of the backsides to confirm. Anyone seen this before? Thanks
  9. Will stock turbo IIs hollow spoke in 8 and 11" fit without interference on a stock '99 narrow body? 996.362.142.03 rears. 295X30 996.362.136.04 fronts. 225x40 Thanks
  10. So who here will be attending? One day, all three days? Anyone doing any of the race groups? I will be there assisting the PCA National Club Race Steward. Someone has to know the track and the general layout of the facility.
  11. no, this was not on the wheels. Maybe this LAG is causing dyno to show 265hp. So how is the motor being dynoed, out of the car on an engine stand?
  12. Loving the modified exhaust! Sounds like a proper Porsche now :clapping:
  13. Mark has been doing Porsche repair and modification for over 25 years now. I don't take my Porsches to anyone else. He only works on Porsches and BMWs...not a "catch all" shop!
  14. Interesting, I have memory seats and the passenger mirror doesn't move at all. Any input for a newbie on how this is supposed to work? Thanks :clapping:
  15. Done at Sportech in Campbell CA. Been taking my Porsches to this shop for over 20 years :clapping: 408-377-8055 Tell Mark (the owner) that you got the info from Dan
  16. Dash switch installed and functioning for the spoiler :clapping: Dash switch installed and functioning for the OBC  Exhaust is now modified slightly. 1.5" SS mandrel bent tube now installed between the inlet to the muffler and the exhaust pipe just before the exhaust tip. Has a nice bark to it now just like a PSE for pennies on the dollar. At idle and constant speed it sounds just about like stock, but crowd it a bit and it sounds very healthy now. No resonance at cruising speeds either. A great mod. Now I just need to drive the darn thing! Check out this page for the sound and what it looks like. http://www.fdmotorsports.net/index_files/Page732.htm Did mine just like this! _________________ Slow in, fast out
  17. The 996 is now registered in my name and in my garage! Now starts the detailing to remove 12 years of stuff other owners didn't deal with! Got some of the rear end done tonite. Cleaned around the Carrera letters on the engine lid...looked like they hadn't been touched in years Polished the SS exhaust tips, cleaned around the spoiler and engine lid in the engine compartment and cleaned the rear bumper and valence. Got all the polish out of the body lines/nooks/crannies on the rear. Cleaned the rear license plate up and tossed the dealer frame _________________ Slow in, fast out
  18. ran 225x45x17s on my stock 7" turbo twists on the front of my '99 Boxster with absolutely no interference....and the car was running about 1.5 inches lower than stock. so should work on a 996 with no problems.
  19. Thanks Loren... once it is in the garage the mods will begin. PSE Mark1 muffler hack OBC hack (already turned on just need the button on the dash) did this on my '99 Box years ago Spoiler switch Hack, did this on my '99 Box years ago
  20. Found a lightly optioned (that was what I was looking for!) 1999 coupe. Ocean Blue Metallic, with grey leather. Memory heated seats, rear wiper, Porsche crest center caps. 71K miles, with a Porsch crate motor that was installed at about 56K miles. New clutch done in the last 100 miles, new tires all around. Car is in very good condition and should be in my garage by tomorrow evening. :clapping: Excited about the new car, have had lots of other P cars over the years.... 21. I am in the market for a good used S. I have found several in my area....several of the early cars have had new glass window tops installed so that becomes less of a decision point. So what else would you consider? I owned a 1999 986 for 5 years, so I have a good grasp on most of the major 986 issues. Thanks :thankyou:
