  1. I got my adapter for a Sony reciever (replacement for my '97 becker CDR210) from Crutchfield...it is indeed a VW adapter...Plugged right into my factory harness, thing of beauty....all this for $20 http://www.crutchfield.com/S-VM363zGep28/c...000&I=120701758
  2. I have 97 with 55K miles and have had no issues....love the car....I added a B&M short shifter, a 2000yr shifter knob and in-dash porsche cup holders...that along with the sport 17" wheel package and most people think it is a new one.... This is my 65th car and by far my favorite (even over my alfas & jag....)Easy to work on and even more fun to drive.....Mine has the 2.5 engine which for me is good...any more engine and I would be in jail for excessive speeding....
  3. The owners manual says not to put the top down when it is colder than freezing... I cracked a rear window while test driving boxsters before I got mine....it was a dealer's so I didnt feel too bad....sad either way... The windows do smooth out when the weather gets warmer....(It been very cold here in Atlanta as well......) Enjoy....
  4. If you want a factory black one, try http://www.autoatlanta.com Great folks, I live 10 minutes away (which is dangerous) and they have good pricing...I think the part number is G996 426 069 05 EKQ If they dont have one I'll sell you mine, I replaced mine with a 2000 style..... If you want the wood/alum then the part # is g986 424 981 01 and they seem to have it....
  5. I want to install a headset cable so that I can plug it into my cell phone and have the speaker output go through the stereo (I hate those little headsets). I would also like to use the built in dash mic for input. Does the in-dash microphone actually do anything or can it be used for something else? Any one have any wiring diagrams of it? thanks
  6. I just added an updated shifter knob to my 97 boxster. I put in the silver/leather version as found on the 2000 models. It was easy to do, check this link out.... http://www.986faq.com/7-0/default.asp Section 7.3 tells you how. (this site was down while I was typing this, but it worked last night) Basically it says: -put on the parking brake -sit in the passenger seat -Shift gear lever into reverse -remove the boot from center console by gently pressing the rear left & rights sides in, and lifiting up -Place foot on floorboard and pull shift knob straight up..... It took me about 60 secs replace mine... Also, the shifter lever isn't round. It is flattened on each side so I dont know if non-porsche shift knobs would work.........
  7. Is it possible to add PCM if one is purchased from either the dealer($$$) or a salvage yard ($)? From what I can tell, you relocate the climate control to the lower console as well as the radio...Is the wiring harness already in the dash to add it? Thanks
