  1. A friend of mine with a UK spec 2001 TT has an intermittent problem with his rear spoiler. It sometimes refuses to raise at the correct speed. Its not all the time, just happens on & off....any ideas ? It works when raised with the button on the dash ok J
  2. Its the standard Turbo front spoiler, £140 (UK) with PCGB discount, ordered from a local OPC. They fitted it for free, because they forgot to order it in when I took my car there for fitting. They managed to get one in, but all took longer than expected so I had a bit of a winge & they agreed free fitting......from the sounds of it its a quick job anyway that they probably charge an hours labour for !
  3. Slightly strange one this, but when I change down from 3rd to 2nd, the car feels a little "rough". Not when changing from 4th to 3rd or 5th to 4th etc, just 3rd to 2nd. Its kinda hard to describe other than it feels rough & lumpy as the clutch comes up & engages 2nd gear. In all other ways the car feels fine. Any suggestions ? Its an 02 996 with 19k miles. R.
  4. Thanks Loren I am ordering the spoiler from an OPC, do you know if the clips come with it or will I need to order them separately ?
  5. Hi All My front lower plastic lip spoiler (02 996TT) is knackered & needs replacing. Is this an easy DIY job if I order the spoiler ? Looking underneath it looks like its easy - held on with a few clips/nuts etc, but anyone have first hand experience of changing one ? Cheers Ro.
  6. I had a hunting problem and a number of things were said to me by an OPC & specialist : 1) Maf (mentioned) 2) Faulty o2 sensors 3) A split hose (mentioned) 4) Check the oil filler cap (?) apparantly if its loose or the rubber seal has perished or cracked on the inside of the cap, then this can cause hunting. Ro.
  7. Not sure about others, but I found it made just a little difference to the sound higher up the rev range. I don't think it harms the car having it in & in the 6 montsh I had it in I never had any problems - car felt fine. The reason I removed it was that while it didn't seem to harm the car, because of the minimal sound difference I thought I would remove it just in case. Had the sound been transformed, it would have stayed in. Ro.
  8. oops - just noticed that you are not in the UK - maybe better off calling them direct & getting one sent to you after all. Ro.
  9. Hiya I have a spare cap if you want. I had it in my C2 & it made a bit of a difference in terms of induction noise higher up the rev range, but not a huge amount. Its so easy to put in / take out that you can do it & if you decide its no different just whip it out again. Drop me your address & I will drop it in the post to you (if I can find it !) Ro.
  10. OK Thanks - there goes my plan of just swapping bumpers over & being done with it :(
  11. All Quickie - will a GT2 front bumper go straight onto a 996 TT ? Quite like the aggresive look of the GT2 so toying with the idea.... Ro.
  12. MAF sensor &/or O2 sensors in the exhausts ? Both were suggested when my 1998 C2 had idle problems. In my case a new MAF cured everything. Ro.
  13. I have a 996 TT but this applies I guess to C4S or anniversary drivers. Had a good look at the front rads (middle & 2 sides) & its frightening to see whats collected in there...dead wasps, small stones, *** butts etc etc. Does anyone know how to remove the 2 slatted pastic protection covers in each side of the bumper ? Do they pop out & pop back in ? Ro.
  14. All I picked up my 2002 TT 3 weeks ago & its fantastic. Obviously I will service it according to Porsche guidelines at an OPC, but I also want to replace the engine oil oil & filter every 6 months. In addition I wanted to know how easy it is to check other essential oil levels - such as turbo oil level, & how easy it is to top that up or replace. Many thanks Ro.
  15. Mine did this but I just gently rocked the unit from side to side & it came out. As Loren says I found that if i turned the key too much it also kinda released the unit then hooked it again - stopping it from sliding out - so don't turn the key so far.
  16. Guys Wanted some advice please. I am in the UK & have a 2.5 year old C4S Coupe. Recenlty diagnosed as having RMS failure & is going in next week to be sorted. As the car is less than 3 years old & has a full Porsche service history,my dealer has put through a good-will claim & they expect Porsche to pay "probably half the labour costs" In your opinions is this fair or should I be asking for full contribution. Cost of job is £706, of which majority is labour. Any advice on what I should be pushing for appreciated. Ro.
  17. Funnily enough I am in the same position - just about to get a sports exhaust for my C4S & wondering what to do with the "old" one. I am just going to fit the back boxes so when I sell the car I will probably put the original boxes back on - very easy swap back. Then sell the sports exhaust as a second hand unit - used sports exhaust are like hens teeth & I would imagine I will re-coup most of my outlay. It means I wont have the switch to quieten it down but I live in the middle of nowhere so not an issue.
  18. All My gearbox makes a "clunk" sound - mostly when changing from 3rd to 4th. The geaqrbox is fine - very precise & positive - it just makes a clonk sound that is coming from the gearstick area. If you wiggle the gearstick in neutral it is a bit noisy - any ideas. I can live with it but just wondered. Ro.
  19. Thanks Corey - you are spot on. Despite me thinking all doors etc were shut I find that the engine cover is in fact not shut down properly (though it does look like it is) Problem solved - cheers Ro.
  20. Hi I just got my car back from having some minor accident repairs & now when I lock the car the horn sounds briefly. I know that you press the key fob button twice quickly when locking to turn off the ultrasonics (I think) & you get this sound then, but you shouldn't get that sound when pressing once ? All doors, bonnet etc are closed. Any ideas ? It didn't do this before. Ro.
  21. Sounds a bit low. Mine did this & it was a MAF sensor that needed replacing. Its a doddle to fit a new one but the bad news is the part is expensive ! Fine after it was replaced. Ro.
