eBay auction says it came from an '01.
I have a 2000. What else would I need in order to get it to work? Thanks in advance!

Well you'll need the wiring. BUt no matter how far you get, you'll be stuck w/ a system that is no longer supported w/ updates. All in all, you're better off buying aan avn 5435, or some other 2 din unit.

i want to replace my 2001 996 cab4 front bumper w/ a a 2002 turbo bumper. both bumpers are oem. will this work w/o modifications? thank you
2001 have the old style hearlights. 2002 have the "Turbo" style headlight. So to use the 2002 bumper you need new fenders, headlights, etc. The are sources for a turbo look bumper for a 2001 or earlier car, but most are fiberglass rather than polyurethane.
Thanks for the info.

Hi All:
I have a chance to buy a 01 NAV unit from a board member. It consists of the NAV screen unit and the CD drive.
No harnesses or antenas etc.
Anyone have any ideas what I might be looking at to do this install? And what additional parts I might need.
Thanks in advance!
Tim
Just sold an 01 nav system complete w/ cd changer, etc. they have no more updates for these models, so you're probaly better off w/ an aftermarket. the 02 and later have fiber optic connections which cannot be retrofitted w/o considerable headaches.

I just replaced my black console in my 996 for a carbon fiber one from a 2005 Turbo. The old glove box door is supposed to go through a couple of eyelets on the console which holds the back of the door at the hinge point. The new console does not have these eyelets so the pivot point is not properly attached. Does anyone know if there was a change in the glove box hionge design for 2005? If so,m is there a new glove box door especialy for 2005? Thanks for the info. Eli
I don't know if I can reply to my own topic, but I found a hinge repair kit for 996 whioch will fix this problem. The reapir kit part number is 996 552 960 01 if you need it.

Try doing a search for instrument cluster and or gauges. This has been covered many many times here.

Does anyone know where I can get console removal instructions for a 2001 996. Have a tiptronic, so the handle must be removed first. Thanks.

navtec doesnt supply new maps for pcm1 so adding one is a waste of money. installation isn't plug n play as the gps wiring and antennae is time consuming. boe wasn't offere in 01 only 02. better off w aftermarket gps from kenwood, pioneer or eclipe. they have touchscreen
How can you tell the differnec betwen the PCM1 and 2.

Ok I bought a 2001 996 carrera4 cab. Ebay item #4574712440. I also bought a nav system from a 2000 996 ebay item #8001975202. Need to know if this can be installed w/o modifications. I do have the BOSE system. Is this going to be a hassle? Anyone in san diego that can do this? Really need to know before I start. Eli
