  1. Ours does the same thing...I've been told that its a normal function something about polution requirement on start up 06 Cab/tip 24,000 miles
  2. I guess I've out-grown the wheels off clean-up My dad used to get a real laugh when I had my Austin Healey back in 1960 and I would take the wheels off to clean the spokes ... have I grown into my dad? Now I just wash the parts I can reach, .... time for a nap....
  3. The car is an 06, and the caps so not have holes (are they not o/e?)
  4. I found that in the US anyway the price differential was not that much, more depended on the mileage/condition, BUT since I "needed" a Tiptronic, I thought that the 30hp would make up the difference in acceleratioin...not that I "push" the car at all... I also think that since this car will be traded up to a PDK in about 2 years, the "S" will make the car easier to sell, and most of the extra $ will come back
  5. I have a set I bought "aftermarket" they look nice but I have not installed them...my originals have lost their "brightness". But, to instal the new ones I guess I'd have to take the wheels off, they don't have holes like the older 911's did to pull them off
  6. It looks like this is at least an 06 4S, so the car undamaged is probably in the $55 to $65,000 range. Damage on both sides, in the least it looks like ca: $10,000 IF no extensive bending of the chassis....that quarter panel will definately need to be replaced...and there may be damage to the l/r suspension, in addition to the r/f...good time to upgrade the front bumper however.... Definately worth salvaging I would think.. UNFORTUNATELY this car will probably bear a SALVAGE TITLE for the rest of its life.
  7. Depending on how badly "scratched" you could experiment with a piece of "wet of dry" sandpaper or a very fine file and smooth the roughness then with a small cheapie paint brush and some silver spray cans....various colors, try to match the color by spraying the paint into the cover of the spray can and gently applying it over the area you "fixed". It will make it almost disappear, at least until you change the tires and have them permanently painted. I ahve done this on various BMW and Porsche wheels...it just makes the damage less obvious...
  8. Finally, we just bought an 06 C2S, its a Red/Black 24,000 mile CPO Cab/Tip. I have been a PCA member since 1980...81? First was a 1980 triple black targa..long story I was looking at a 77 Ferrari 308GT4 that got sold, I was really disappointed but they gave me the keys to this Targa and I took it out...about 3 hours later I came back with a big grin and bought it. Among the others were...a 74 WhiteTarga, a 77 Kremer Targa (3.2 in a narrow body), a Red 79 coupe (bought in DE and imported, got lightly rear ended and wound up as a Turbo look, an Silver 80 coupe bought in DE land, a 79 Red Targa, a 356 Cabrio (64?) a S/Y 2000 base Boxster, a Black 2002 Boxster S, even a Speedster (replica) So far the only thing I miss are the AIR COOLED engine sounds...however the a/c, heating, smooth running, etc, etc, have overcome the sound and it's only the second week! I find that the 19" tire/wheel setup is very harsh, and what I'm wondering is, for me, would 18's improve this...I remember liking the 15's over the 16's back in the 80's for ride quality. Also, all the new cars are no longer "user friendly" (not just Porsche) you MUST RTFM, even to figure outr how to use the audio!! It took 15 minutes....with a Porsche service tech on the phone to program the GARAGE DOOR OPENER, the manual instructions were useless .......more later as we get accustomed to the NEW (to us) car. tnx Daniel

  10. I understand that if you disconnect the light in the glovebox it will chirp, but the alarm will be functioning 100% ..... true?
  11. I have some questions... How many times a day/week do you run your top up and down... Have you had the top replaced? What was the cost, are you happy with the job...who did it (dealer or indie) Have you used a "treatment" on it to keep it in better shape? What did you use and do you think it helped. Daniel
  12. Have you replaced the convertible top on your cabrio? Did you fold it a lot...at least 3-5 times a week? What did it cost, who did it and are you happy with the job? thanks
  13. I have started to look for an 06 or 07 Cabrio..unfortunately it MUST be a Tiptronic...... In my research I contacted Mercury Insurance for a quote on their repair policy...we had one on the Me/Be CLK320 I just sold. WOW, first of all they will not cover 4 wheel drives at all, and the cost for an 06 Platinum coverage (the "best") is about $7500 for 4 years 48,000 miles...but wait theres more an 07 would be $8100 for 60 months 100,000 miles.... So much for the 4wd's, and I think that at that cost I'll start looking at ONLY CPO cars.... By the way what are the differences between a "regular" Carrera and an S....
  14. So, it actually works..so many times I have thought about this, but twice I sold the car with the dent...
  15. Is there a build date after which all 05 engines have ugraded IMS bearings...Porsche knows, does anyone else? Well, maybe I just need to look for an 06.
  16. Having owned 2 Boxsters, and being "concerned" about the IMS failure, I am now looking for a 997. From what I have been reading and being "told" the Tiptronics and later 05's are not likely to have the problem, is there a production date for when the "upgraded" IMS starts?
