  1. Yeps, the problem was the "fork" (which closes the front part of the top) does not touch enough the microswitch. I pressed the fork with my finger, and VOILÁ, the windows rolled up. Thanks! Kare :clapping:
  2. My MY99 C2 convertible rear windows won´t raise again (they went down with top up, I can hear a "click" when trying to raise the windows). Is there a microswitch somewhere which prevents the contact with windoew motor? Or what can it be? Looks like the top thinks it´s still down.... I tried opening/closing the top, but the problem is still there. Kare (Did a search, but could not find anything...)
  3. It´s total, 100% sure. If you are interested about the wreck, make an offer to the insurance company. In this kind of cases, they would, quite sure, accept few thousands of $.
  4. Try 2935 or 2933 Sorry to bother, but didn´t work. What should I try now, changing the last two digits? Now the radio tells me to wait...and there are quite many different combinations to try.
  5. HI CD220 serial X50117888 model 43/62 Thanks Kare
  6. Looks like a good, more solid solutions, than the original one! Hopefully it works, should be, as it doesn´t look like such a complicated matter... Sometimes I really don´t understand the engineers with their cost saving programs: trying to save 10 (or less) cents, they make a piece from plastics, which will broke sooner or later.Anyhow they charge premium prices for the cars by tens of thousands... regards, Kare
  7. HI I´m installing the CAN wires for later model instrument cluster 2003 to my MY99 cabrio (US model).I have the new blue, grey and black plugs for the new cluster, and there is small part of wires still left on them. Can I solder the CAN network wires? I already tried just to splice the two twisted wires to an extension wires, but my Durametric gives an CAN error. I´d be gratefull if somebody could explain, why the wires are twisted together. Thanks Kare
  8. As far as I know the stealership sells only the whole pedal assembly (very expensive, of course). The aftermarket covers are designed to be fixed to the original pedal. I think I have one used pedal assemply under other junk. If you are interested, let me know. Regards, Kare
  9. I was searching with different keywords information how to decode the engine number. As the model is M97/01, followed with 687.....I suppose the model year is from 2007??? Am I right? I don´t know it exactaly as I boufgt the engine separately...
  10. Hi I´m going to service the clutch, and was wondering to check the IMS/RMS issues at the same time. Which IMS version (the bearing) do I have. The engine number is M97/01 68702641 (the 5th digit can be "G" as well, difficult to say). So, when is the engine built? Thanks Kare
  11. First you should remove the oil pan. If some part of the bolt is visible, you can remove it with pliers (the easiest way). If not you have to drill the bolt away. Best luck, Kare
  12. It´s not the engine compartment where you add the fluid, it´s separate compartment where the top folds down. So some threads online are not specific enough.... And yes, the engine hydr.fluid is not connected to the top´s fluid, so it´s not relevant Regards, Kare
  13. MY 98 boxter with 3.4 engine started to make strong metallic "clank" noise. I switched the engine off right away. The Durametric sais cylinder misfires on cylinders on one side. I cleared the codes, and sterted the engine. Was idling perfectly. However the next day I started the engine again, again perfectly, I switched the gear on, and the engine stalled. After it won´t turn around anymore. I´ve been trying to turn the engine with a wrench from the crankshaft, but it only turn about 1/5th turn. What could be the reason? One of the distribution chains? Or... Thanks in advance Kare
  14. Use a toothpick to apply the paint. After the paint has cured, wetsand the "plump" with P1500 and P2000. Finally polish it. You should get quite a decent result on dark colors... Best luck, Kare
  15. How can I make these CAN BUS wires. Ineed to make the ones etween the cluster and DME, and ABS controller. What kind of wire is used? Are the connector special? Thanks Kare
  16. "Rennen" is german and means running, but it´s also used as "racing" (welll there are a lot of other meanings...) Kare
  17. See the answers below 1. can i use the dme and dme harness from his 996 in the boxster or do i have to do the whole harness swap from cluster all the way back to rear? do i still have to have it reflash for security bypass? Yes, you can use the 996 DME, you´ll need also matching keys and the antitheft module frm the 996. I don´t know how the Boxter harness is, from the cluster to back, but the 996 one has connectors (n my cabri) right behind the doors (3 on driver´s side, and one on the oppsite). From these connectors, another one goes t the engine compartment, and these plugs are different that Boxter one. As you are making a revolution instead of evolution in your car, maybe the easiest way is to change the entire 996 harness. 2. i know i'll still have to find a tiptronic transmission for boxster to mate with the 996 engine and sell the 996 transmission. and buy a couple of mounts. i won't need spacer for the mount for my project because the whole engine compartment lid area has been chopped off.revealing only the frame of car.unless somehow i can turn around the whole engine and transmission like in a boxster and make it work somehow, then i'll be able to drive backward real fast, lol. Yep, it´s esier to source a boxter trans. 3.dropping in a 996 without the old engine is gonna suck, what parts do i need to obtain, i have tod write up but he has an old engine and he is using his boxster dme. but if i have the whole 996 car what is needed to be remove to complete the swap? If your Boxter chasis has the fuel/powersteering/A/C lines, then very little has to be done (some relocating of these lines). BTW, I need some parts from your 996 chasis, as I´m making a 3.8 S engine conversion to my 996. Could you sell me one A/C hose, and a powersteering hose, and one water cooling metallic hose/tube? You won´t need these parts as your Boxter has different ones. I wish you luck with your project... Kare
  18. I have slate grey too, beautiful color. :) I'd suspect the cover you use. Do you leave it on in direct sunlight? During/after rainstorms? Is it fading on your front hood or rear engine cover? It could be deteriorating clearcoat on a paint repair. The factory clearcoat is pretty robust unless you leave it sitting in the desert sun for months at a time or expose it to solvents or other abrasives. It's quite possible that a good polish can fix this problem. Go to a local auto shop and pick up some Meguiar's fine cut cleaner #2 or 3M rubbing compound (both are readily available polishes and have a medium cut), along with some microfiber applicator pads and microfiber towel. Wash the car, then pick a small section (2" or so) of the dull paint and with a nickel-sized dab on the microfiber applicator, apply the compound in a firm , even swirling motion for about 10 seconds and then lift. If your applicator has grey paint on it stop immediately, that means the dullness is caused by your clearcoat wearing off. If not, continue applying until the compound has dried to a haze, then remove the residue with a microfiber towel. If you like what you see on your test spot, do the rest of the lid. Post some pictures for us so we can see the damage. Mark 95% sure the parts has been repainted (badly). It´s very rare the original paint gets dull. Especially if the panels around are OK. As Mark said polishing should get the shine back. The clearcoat gets dull finish, if too fast hardner/ too much thinner has been used during the respray. Good luck Kare
  19. Hi Finally found some time to work with my car (996 MY cab) engine swap. How can I connect the powersteering and airconditioning hoses? The 3.8 engine has different connectors, and the AC hose on my car was cut by an idiot mechanic (not me!!! hah-hah). I suppose the thick hydraylic line can be a simple rubberhose with standard clamps, but what about the high-pressure ( thin?) hose? And the A/C line? The thinner one is OK. I enclose a photo of the connectors. Thanks Kare
  20. Hi My 3.4 engine blow up, and I found a boxter cheap 3.2 engine (for spare parts). What differences there are between those two engines, i.e which parts I CANNOT USE? I think I´ve seen somewhere that the engine block is different...but I can´t remember. I did a serach, but couldn´t find the messages anymore. Thanks guys! Kare
  21. Take a look at Fabspeed site (http://www.fabspeed.com/) I have a 3.6 2002 Cab that I got their exhaust (cats & mufflers) as well as airbox mods and chip tuning. They did a dyno test before and after and you can clearly see (and feel) the difference in the lower RPM's Click Porsche, go to 996&GT3, scroll down to 996 Performance Package with ECU Upgrade, and scroll down and click PRODUCT DYNO: 2002 996 Performance Package with ECU Upgrade. Biggest gain was in 2000-3000 RPM range, easily 50 hp at that RPM. So it's clearly an issue that can be taken care of The dyno chart states about 25 hp max. gain. However, there is a big difference in lower torque (yes about 50 ft-lbs.). Surely a noticeable improvement, even with butt-feeling!
  22. Hi everybody, Which year the variocam plus came to the Boxters, was it for the 2.7 l engine? And which DME dies the 2.7 engine use? Thanks Kare
  23. I couldn´t find the 3 digit number, and <I don´t have a Porsche dealer nearby. One tire shop lost the key, although they deny it. How can I take the security keys away? I suppose I have to break them, but how? regards Kare
