  1. My rear speakers are broke. So are my dash speakers. In fact so are my door speakers. I think this is the way they all came from the factory, so bad they you can't tell if they are blown or just junk. I did buy my Porsche used in a private sale, so it is possible that they have been overused, but I doubt it. Before summer, I am going to have the door speakers replaced. Of course, I didnt buy a Porsche for its stereo!
  2. So I tried NASA's technique for fixing curb rash on my poor mangled wheel. I used every product he recommended. The technique for filling and priming works like a charm. Unfortunately, the Wurth paint doesn't match very well at all. I thought it didnt look very good in the pics he took, but I was hoping it was just bad lighting. Oh well, it was worth a shot. I must say though, the edge of the rim is like new in its form and texture thanks to NASA's technique. Anyhow, I'm only out about $40 for the supplies. So what to try next? Wheel Wizard This guy is in Atlanta and is recommended by the couple dealers here. Isn't this basically the same thing as buying a refurbished wheel from wheelenhancement.com? Does anyone have any feedback on wheelenhancement.com? I'm kinda interested if they give you wheels that have had substantial damage and been repaired. How bout four chrome turbo 18"s? :D Seems like it would be a bit too much on a Porsche, especially a yellow one.
  3. I had those on my Corvette, liked em just fine. They were quiet and handled pretty decent. The real bonus was the tread pattern looked kick arse! Got any pics?
  4. Thanks for all the responses ya'll. There are a few here I have not even heard of. I will check them out. Anyone else want to ring in? Looks like I opened up a can of worms with this one. :D Still looking for anyone else who might have used Klasse who also may Zaino.
  5. Klasse Homepage Its been a while since I have actually used polish. Anyone have any input? I am especially interested if any of ya'll have any input on Klasse polish? If I don't get any decent feedback on this, I am just going to have to go with Zaino, which I have heard many great things about. However, it seems like Klasse is really easy to apply... even with my orbital. Of course, theres no hurry deciding since the weather here is CRAP! Wet in GA, Patrick
  6. I also would recommend trying the "Langka" if you opt for the touchup route. I have used it before, and it works great for smoothing out blobs.
  7. Thanks for the quick response, guys. I ended up having to work all night, just got home at 7:30am. Couldn't get it off my mind... car-perfection-lust and all. Need to go to bed. Anyhow, that fix by NASA looks interesting. The only reason I am considering this at all is the fear that I may do this again. I am sure I will be more careful in the future, but its my daily driver, so who knows. It is my right rear wheel, 2000 model 18" turbo-look wheel. I forget the width, but I am guessing you know. I'd appreciate info on pricing and p/n. Also, does Porsche take the core in trade? Don/Dave - agreed. I doubt I could stomach the thought of it repaired, or not fixed at all. I also promised myself that I wouldnt get into too much DIY work on this car after the DIY/Mod obsession I had on my Corvette. It was ridiculous. CO996C4 - I did see one of those sites... my only concern with folks who repair and resell wheels is that they look EXACTLY like the original, and also that they are not so worked over that the balance is off. Any input on this? Thanks again guys, im off to bed. BTW - after it warms up a bit here and I get to get out and do a nice polish and wax, I'll get a pic up. Patrick
  8. One of my beautiful 18" turbo-look wheels just got thrashed by a curb tonight. Please, don't ask how. I am so dang upset I could kill a kitten. Heres the way I see my options: 1) Live with the fouled up wheel. (is this really an option?) 2) Buy a new wheel from Porsche. (like $500, right?) 3) Buy a "remanufactured" wheel from one of these internet dealers I am seeing. 4) Get the wheel repaired. (however, im not sure this can actually be done) Please folks, I am desperate for your input. The wheels are my favorite part of the car, I'm really bummed. Thanks, Patrick
  9. This is so funny. I am new to my P-car, but from the very beginning I had a sneaking suspicion that the OBC option was preinstalled and able to be turned on and off. That this is true is rather annoying to me, but alas... I didnt buy this car to stare at my average gas milage. However... If I can get it turned on, that would be neat. :) Don't you have to have an extra control arm sticking out of your steering column, though? I guess I am going to try to find a tech in ATL who is feeling generous. Has anyone heard of a private porsche owner who has his/her own computer to se these settings? My curiosity has been ignited. Patrick
  10. The TSB did the trick, which I am very jazzed about. Very quiet now, esp compared to my last vehicle which was a late model Corvette. What a rattletrap!
  11. Yea, that could be a problem. I'll check the manual and make that right. Thanks for the heads up, SF. Patrick
  12. I would be happy to donate. This seems like a great group that is forming up, and I am glad to be a part of it from the near beginning. I have a couple questions about the forum in general, I'll move that stuff to another thread/forum.
  13. Ahhh. in my line of work, we call tires that have large flat areas on them due to improper use of the brakes. Like where the wheels locked up in braking at high speed. Lots of white smoke, and all... flat spots on the tires. Anyhow, this happens just as the car has sat overnight... usually when its below freezing outside, probably close to it in my garage. I checked tire pressure the other day and it was right on. (about 30-32 psi warm on Contis)
  14. Loren, you ARE the man. Thanks so much, I will be trying this as soon as I get home today. Don, I am very interested in the specifics of the TSBs if you could post em. Thank you very much, fellas. Patrick Edit: I saw the section on here where it lists the TSBs by number. Is there anywhere where I can find the specific information on the TSB?
  15. How do you flat spot tires in a car with antilock brakes? I doubt that is it since it goes away after thr first hard braking.
  16. Only when the car is very cold and has been sitting for a long time (overnight like) , I get a vibration that I can feel in the seat of my pants, and through the steering wheel. The frequency increases with speed. After the first complete stop from moderate speed (45mph+) the vibration is gone. My guess is that one of the brake pads is partially on the rotor and recedes after the brakes have been warmed up and actuated a few times. Any suggestions as to what else it might be? Is it a real problem or nothing to worry about? Thanks ya'll.
  17. Thanks for the reply, sorry it took so long. I am hoping this topic will move back to the top so you see it. I am not particularly familiar with the areas of the top you are talking about lubricating. Could you elaborate a biut more or provide pics? I would really appreciate it. I would like to avoid having to go to a interior/fabric shop or dealership for something this petty. By the way, I have some silicon grease that I use to lube my weather striping. This is basically like krytox, I believe. Thanks for listening!
  18. Any ideas for fixing a squeaky cabriolet top? It squeaks when you hit bumps in the road with the top up. It seems to be coming from behind my left ear and up.
  19. also, did you actually remove the individual trunk and engine release handles from the assembly to paint them or did you leave them on? (mabey that was the original reason for this topic, im not sure)
  20. Kevin, what did you use to repaint the worn trunk/engine release levers? Do you have any pics?
