  1. Small world, we probably just live a few miles apart! I actually bought it from Shelton Maserati in Fort Lauderdale. In performing my pre-purchase due diligence, I learned that Las Vegas is NOT the best place to buy a Porsche. To get my car in Vegas would've cost me easily $7K additional, if not more. Yea, the 215 is dangerous in terms of giving in to temptation. I also am very careful, even when I get the urge to open it up a little bit :-) Thanks for the info on PCA, I will definitely check it out!
  2. Hey there Dell, I am guilty of both of the above :-) As someone had stated the dealer had them for < $300, I thought I would check. BAD IDEA!! I am not a PCA Member, but I would be interested in learning more about it. I have had my 996 for a few months now and I love it! Glad to see another Las Vegan on the boards. What area of town do you live on? I am near Summerlin. Cheers!
  3. Thanks a lot Scouser for that link! I have been checking eBay for the past couple of weeks with only 1 wind deflector showing up (at $340). I might give it a few more days of monitoring eBay before ordering from Pelican, as my wife and I have a trip coming up June 18th. Thanks again!
  4. Well I called the ONLY dealer here in Vegas, and they quoted me $775.00 for this wind deflector. Nope, not a typo; $775!!!!!!!!!!! I will keep scouring the net to see if I can find one. Anybody have a source I should check out in order to find it cheaper? eBay currently doesn't have any for sale. Thanks again guys.
  5. Thank you so much everybody for your input. I am definitely going to purchase one, but I will shop around!!! Thanks again.
  6. Does anybody have any experience with and without the wind deflector? I have a 2000 996 C4 Cab and it didn't come with the wind deflector. There is one on eBay right now for $340. Was the deflector even an option on the 2000 models? My wife and I will be taking the car on a 400 mile road trip. Would the wind deflector be a worthwhile purchase? Does it substantially cut down on wind noise and turbulence? Does it take away from back seat storage? Thanks everybody in advance.
  7. Thanks Poursha for all your help here. I am going to go your route and have a stereo shop install it. I just found one and am on my way to do it in a few minutes. I will post pics soon! Thank you again.
  8. Thanks for the response Poursha, and I saw that link before I posted, but it seems to be for a Boxster. I am typing this as we speak from the interior of my car via laptop and I am thinking about trying to tap off the interior light cluster, if possible? Thanks again, I will keep searching, but I appreciate if anybody can point out any specific links they found helpful.
  9. I have the exact same problem. I am very mechanically UNinclined, and I am looking for some easy instructions on how to hardwire my V1. I had my V1 in my previous car (BMW) and the DIY instructions for that hardwire were simple, even for an idiot like me. I would love to find some easy DIY instructions on how to hardwire my V1. I am thinking about putting it right above the speakers on the driver side of the dash, as I feel it would be stealthiest there. I have a '00 996 C4 cab, and I don't think I want to mount it up high. Any leads guys? TIA........Unless I am missing something, the DIY suggestions I have found here seem for tech-oriented guys. I am looking for a DIY for idiots lol.
  10. I had a squeaky cab top as well on my 200 996 C4. I tried a BMW product by the name of "GummiFlege" <sp?> to no avail. Maybe because I didn't apply it right, I am not sure. It didn't help. I took my car into the dealership, and the tech said he lubricated all the seals. It is now extremely quiet and I am really happy with it! They also fixed a very noticable creaking type sound whenever I turned the wheel and went over a bump. I took the tech for a ride, and he informed me as soon as he heard the noise that it was the "knee-bar". They inserted some felt lining on either side of the kneebar and it took care of that problem as well. Between my fixed squeaky top and my kneebar being fixed, my car is really quiet (well relatively speaking!)
  11. Thanks for the response, Loren. Do you know if PSE was even offered in MY 200 996 C4's?
  12. I am new to the Porsche family, having recently purchased a 2000 996 C4 cab. My exhaust tips seem larger (and more oval) than the typical 996 exhaust I see. As my knowledge base is still somewhat limited, can you tell me if what you see in the attached pics is the Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE)? Was it offered in 2000? Thanks in advance!!!
  13. Thanks for the response, Ted. I failed to mention the bushings were replaced at the time of me getting the 30,000 mile service, the new tires, new clutch, and a Mass Air Flow Sensor replacement. Pardon my extreme ignorance, but can the bushings be adjusted???
