  1. Loren: Great post, thank you! It appears that Castrol 5w50 is no longer an approved oil. Some people say that 0w40 is too fluid and may cause leaks (used b/c of better fuel economy) and that the 40 weight is not viscous enough for hot climates like the Southern US. Your view? I recently did my first oil change and went with Castrol 5w50. Mobil1 doesn't appear to make a 5w50 or 5w40 any more. Should I just use the factory 0w40? Thanks!
  2. Excellence magazine reports (testing 987 and Cayman) that maximum handling performance was achieved with the 19s...crisper turn in and better grip. If you aren't concerned about that extra margin of performance, and don't want em for looks, then stay with the 18s. I have 19s on my 2006 S and find the ride sports car firm but fine. From a looks perspective, I love the 19s! BTW, I have a set of OEM 19" Carrera S rims (no tires) for sale if anyone is interested. I upgraded to Champion forged 19s. I will also trade em for great condition OEM 18" Boxster S wheels and some cash--I want OEM 18s for track tire fitment. Thanks!
  3. Hello--can anyone provide the paint color or name for the darker metallic grey color used on the interior of the Boxster (987)? The color I am trying to identify is used on sport seat backs, the painted trim on the handbrake, the climate control and radio trim, the trim piece around the airbag (not the thumbholds) and the round part of the air vents ?? Thank you! Chris
  4. Just traded my 2002 M3 cab in on an 06 987S for the same reasons! Amazing difference between a true sports car and an interesting, comfy GT compromise. Was a BMW fan for years, but they're obviously taking the company away from the sporty to the sports-minded luxury. Love the sound and feel of the 987, reminds me of my 98 993!
