I think thats the culprit! I think I dont have that "small white plastic cup shaped like a small funnel" which you were referring to. I inserted by pinky in the foam liner hole and I do not feel any plastic underneath except the actual drain hose mounted in the wheel well. Do you have a part number for it? So I may order it online and put it back in.

Hello, I have a 97 Boxster 986. I have troubles finding the leak that floods my module found under driver's seat. I had the car thoroughly repainted and I am not sure if everything was in place during re-installation by painter. There was no leak from the front drains. I suspect that the leak comes from the backside drain specifically on the drainhole of the foam liner tray undearneath clamshell. There is no leak on the foam liner itself since every suspected hole was sealed and tested but I think the problem lies specifically in between the liner/tray drainhole and the drain hose underneath it which runs underneath the wheel well. The drain hose does not have a leak but perhaps water seeps right from the drainhole of liner/tray just before it goes to the drain hose underneath it since I noticed a partial gap in between them (liner drain hole vs drain hose). Can anybody give me an image of what exactly is underneath the foam liner in the drainhole part? I think its missing something or maybe needing adhesion to the drain hose to avoid the gap that is suspected to run water in between them which is seeping to the cabin. A picture of the part in between drainhole to drain hose will help me conclude on what is wrong. I cant dissasemble the foam liner tray as I do not have proper tools. I wanted to first know whats wrong so I may plan how to fix it. Well this is only my hypothesis on the dilema. Though maybe somebody has a better answer? I am just guessing and any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone!

I am in need of replacing the Alarm Module under the seat of my 1997 Porsche Boxster 986. I believe the part number is 99661826007. I plan to buy it from autoatlanta.com (http://www.autoatlan...26007-srch.html). Or perhaps anyone know of a better and cheaper place to get it from online? (USA preferred) I heard from a friend thay it should come with a key for work-guarantee. But all of the module I find does not have a key. I have read somewhere that without a key in the kit, there will be some kind of reprogramming needed for this part to function and to start the car. (Or perhaps anyone know where I can get the complete kit with key online?) Can anyone kindly give me more information on how I could make this part work for my particular vehicle? Kindly be specific/step-by-step so I can instruct my local import-car shop (not official porsche shop because they do not accept when I bring in the part) on how he could do it with minimized errors and not waste money. I just wanted to make sure that everything will be in order before I continue with the purchase of the module. I just dont want to waste money in the order if it would only be an expensive paperweight. I know this is the best place to get tons of information from very knowledgable porsche enthusiasts. I recently purchased rubber bushings for my V levers. It is the rubber bushing in between the V lever and the push rod (which holds the plastic ball joint at the other end). My problem now is what exactly is the correct placement for these black rubber bushings on my V levers since my old rubbers are already totally torn off. Please provide me with pics and some instructions on the correct fitting or replacement position for these. Thank you guys for all the help. John

Hello guys, I have a 97 Boxster. I left the car outside while it was raining and later found out that the interior carpet was a bit flooding inside. Mostly under the driver's seat carpet, and of coruse this will ruin my already ruined module that controls the locks under driver's seat. I have read somewhere long ago that there is some kind of a drainage system in the front (or rear) of the car that might be clogged that is causing flooding problems in the carpet area but I cant find it. Does somebody know where I could find this drain of some sort and instructions on how to clear them? To stop these leaks inside the car. Or maybe a solution to my problem?? I cannot avoid rains. I desperately need your help on this guys, if this continues it will definitely cause more trouble. Thank you for your support my dear friends.

Hello, I have a 97 boxster which I would want to upgrade the rotors to a bigger one. I heard from a friend that changing to bigger cross-drilled slottted rotors is possible and a set would come with a kit/adapter that would adjust the calipers to accomodate the bigger rotors. I dont want to change the calipers, just the rotors and make it bigger for show. Does anyone know where I could get this online? Thank you guys!

Not only me noticed it. My friends also noticed a quiter engine/exhaust after the 3 month long sleep of the car. Do you think driving it a few hundred miles more will get it back to its old roar?

Thanks for the reply Maurice! #3 is already solved. Had to put the canvass plastic guide underneath the leaf springs so they are pushed by them and keep it on guide. Everything falls into the guide when closing. #4 still remains a problem. I will have to sync it tomorrow based on the link/s you provided. I hope I could do it properly hehe. I still have no idea on how to fix the #1

No engine parts were removed. Only body parts, fenders, doors, hoods etc.

@ 1schoir Nice guide. But how can I adjust and align the clamshell? The right part of my clamshell is slitghly higher then the left. I adjusted the turnable plastic/rubber on where the guides of the clamshell go in when clamshell closes but still left and right are not the same. Thanks.

Hello, I recently had my 97 Boxster painted. It took 3 months to finish and the battery was removed during the time. I just got the car today. Aside from my top having problems (had already posted it in a separate topic), I noticed that my engine is somewhat slower after. Previously, before the paint job, I remember my engine sound and roar very loudly specially on the high RPMs. But now the sound is kind of weaker, quieter & tamed. Does this have something to do with the computer forcefully ressetting or something? Is it because of the 3 month inactivity with no battery? The performance on torque and revving and speed build up is somewhat affected as well by something like 20-30%. (just my approximate based on my feel of the car) Though idling and starting had no problems. 1 click start. Anyone got insights on this? Do I need to bring it to the dealer to have the computer reset or to have it reprogrammed or sport-tuned? Any input is welcome guys. Thank you in advance!

Hello guys! I have a 1997 Boxster. I recently had it painted and the canvass top removed and the plastic window replaced by my local upholstery shop. All was okay but when the top was reinstalled by the shop several problems had occured. These are: 1. The Top Light at the gauge cluster still remains lit whether fully closed or fully opened. 2. The Sensors in the latch are I think okay because when I open the lid atop the windshield, the windows roll 3-4 inches down as what I have read from previous posts here. 3. The edge of the canvass does not fall inside the guide channel on the right side just before the top closes. 4. A loud banging sound is heard at the read area of the cables (sometimes left, sometimes right side) just after the top closes. Obviously the shop people are not pro's when dealing with convertible tops and might be way out of sync. Now I just want to sync everything properly right from the start just to be sure everything is in order. Can anyone please give me a guide on how to completely sync my convertible top to make it function 100% properly. A guide with pics is the best since I am really new at this and I am not familiar with part names, descriptions etc. I know this is the best place to get the infos I need as my friend suggested. Kindly consider my request. This would help me a lot and also a valuable read for a lot of forumers here with the 986. I am hoping for your kind consideration on my request.
