  1. Interesting. I've never heard of these ramps cracking. Unless it was a different brand. Mine are made by a company called Rhino Ramps I believe.
  2. I have a set of ramps like that I've been using for years. The Boxster is up on them right now getting an oil change. :) They have a nice little indention so you know when the car is up to the flat surface and can't easily roll off. I'll typically get a car up there using the brake and gas simultaneously and letting off the brake to make the car move. Once I feel it get above the hump, I shift into neutral and let the car settle. Apply parking brake and get to work!
  3. One of my center vents broke. Not sure if this was one they replaced before, but it had a small piece of metal wire come out along with the fang.
  4. There's a guy locally here that's done that with all the bays in his garage. I've missed the club tech days at his house or I'd have pictures. :(
  5. I originally thought it was a large fox or a small wolf. But a person at the local Mercedes/Nissan collision shop (where I'll be taking the car), said he could tell from the hair stuck in between the rim and the tire that it was a coyote. I guess I must have just missed the Road Runner because Wyle E. Coyote was running pretty fast. I went to the local Porsche club's meeting and asked a few people. I had a lot of recommendations from them that the local Mercedes body shop was the only place in town. And after I went there and talked to the staff, and saw their attention to detail, I think I should be satisfied. And I guess some good comes out of this. I'll be able to delete the front license plate and add the RS60 front lip spoilers. :jump:
  6. Here's the damage. Quoted out at $2500: http://huntsvillecarscene.smugmug.com/gallery/5919917_ubk6F Now, my question is, anyone have any experience with GOOD collision repair in the southeast US? I know everyone at the local Porsche dealership, and know they can't really do the collision job justice. My insurance company told me I can take my car anywhere. Any feedback appreciated.
  7. Just got off the phone with Sunset and their price on the parts is much cheaper. Also, there seems to be an adhesive/mounting kit that's also needed, part# P987.505.989.00.
  8. :renntech: I hate to bump an old thread, but thank you very much! I've been looking all over for these part numbers. If you have pictures on your black 987, I'd love to see them. I have a black 987 too that will be needing a replacement front cover due to a large fox... :( Pics of the damage: http://huntsvillecarscene.smugmug.com/gallery/5919917_ubk6F
  9. I too have faced this problem. I purchased my 05 Boxster and the dealer in CA told me about the vent issue after I already flew coast-to-coast to see the car. :cursing: My friend is the lead technician at our local Porsche dealership and he has informed me that the dash is not required to be disassembled. That was my fear as well, and I was willing to live with it if the local techs were numbnuts like every other tech in this town. Thankfully, there's some of the best in the city. :clapping:
  10. We had one of these too. Here's my write up and pictures for Huntsville Car Scene: http://www.huntsvillecarscene.com/calendar...06-6-22&c=1
  11. This is interesting. I know both techs at our local Porsche dealer. They did this same install on a new 997 Turbo last week at the customer's request.
  12. How are they illuminated? Is it an actual light or is it some sort glow-in-the-dark system?
  13. How hard was the install on these? I'm thinking of getting a set.
