  1. I think I will stick with the original 275/45/19. Kind of debating going to 285/45/19 but there is a 4mm difference in sidewall height (larger one is higher). This would have implications handling wise, but I do not know what impications, yet (my thinking is 4mm is a small difference to make a dramatic change in handling, but I may be wrong). Other than that, the price would be another diff. The smaller tire would be about 20 bucks cheaper.

I think it will be Vredestein Sessanta for tire make.

  2. ...thats the thing, there are no faults. I ran through all sections with durametric and had no codes thrown at all. The only thing i see is the warning on the instrument cluster. "Brake Booster Faulty" message.

When I reset faults in the ME7.1 section in Durametric, the error goes away, but returns shortly thereafter with no other errors registering.

    Hey there...

    ...

Can you scan it and pull the actual fault codes before you go any further?

  3. Well, last few days, got the brake booster warning on the instrument cluster.

I read the existing thread(s) on here and elsewhere on the topic, but still need some help with pd.

    Here are my observations:

    - Obvious brake booster warning on cluster

    - After reset, warning comes back within 5-10 minutes of driving

    - No other errors are present (using Durametric)

    - When I turn the car on, and turn off radio/ac, whenever I press the brake pedal, I can hear the vacuum pump (I assume - the silver canister on passenger side, near the washer fluid reservoir) activating for about 20 seconds or so ,and then it turns off.

The pump will activate whenever I press the brake pedal (assuming the pump has stopped already before I press the pedal again).

    - I visually inspected pipes near the vacuum pump and did not see any obvious breaks in line.

    - Braking does not seem to have diminished at all despite the warning light

    - When I press the brake pedal when the car is on (fast press), I hear a slight hiss coming from area of pedal inside cabin (not sure if this is a normal behavior as I do not normally listen for this and do not abruptly step on brakes either - with slow depress I do not hear that hiss)

Here is what I would need help with:

    1. Someone to give me a good overview of the components involved, starting at the brake pedal, all the way through vacuum pumps, etc, where the issue may reside (I would like a good understanding of the components involved)

    2. Possible places to look for issues

    3. Anything else to help me fix this.

    Greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance.

  4. Hood Strut Replacement

The text is imbedded in the pictures. Hope this will help others. I went for a vacation (couple weeks), when I returned I found the strut was gone. First, blamed wife for breaking (lol), but quickly discovered it was its time and it was already gone. Ordered replacement from eBay. When arrived, took me total of 10 minutes (including taking pictures) to replace.

  5. Brake Pedal Strut Replacement

Notice this some time ago and never bothered me, but wife drove a few times and must have nudged the brake with foot, and then I was stuck on the phone for half an hour trying to explain what to do and what is going on (trying to reassure her it is all right to see this warning at this particular time). So decided to replace. After all, I like my cars in perfect condition (my ocd I guess). Step by step included in each photo. Bought replacement from ebay for less than $30 shipped. Hope this

  6. been there but they do not tell you about info I seek. I am aware of tire sizes and what the numbers mean. I am trying to see what real live users have experienced.

Will a 285/45/19 fit fine onto the rim without issues? will this size have enough clearance on the car (05 CTT). What other non stock sizes did people buy and have no issues with.

That is the kind of info I am looking for re the 05CTT I have (my stock tire size is 275/45/19 Cayenne Design wheels - 19x9 ET60).

I like the site as reference but it does not address my questions.

  7. So yesterday, noticed the CEL (check engine light) came on (not flashing, just solid amber).

Pulled the codes and reset all faults.

Reseated my gas cap to ensure it is fully closed. Since I was almost empty of gas, filled up (not that it is very relevant ...lol).

Today, after about 40 miles or so, CEL came back on again. Originally there were 2 codes (will post update with those), but after reset, only 1 came back (I imagine the other will return soon but we will see).

Pulled codes with Durametric cable/sw, and here is what I got:

    ENGINE

    B3901

Evaporative Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow - Upper limit value exceeded, test conditions are not-completed, fault is currently active and causing a DTC light

Any ideas on what can be causing this error and how it can be fixed DYI?

What maintenance items could be causing something like this? (my first thought - dirty air filters? - i have not checked them yet so do not know if dirty - got the car about 2 months ago).

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  8. I set the temp on control panel to LO (in mono mode - all sides synced to same control temp as driver front).

Outside temp was 72F (as displayed inside car). Measured with my garage thermometer I took off the wall - it is about 4 inches long, I placed the mercury indicator right in front of each vent and held it there for about 3 minutes for each vent.

Car doors were closed, windows closed, car turned on idling.

  9. OK. Got more info.

I reset the fault codes on Air Conditioner.

The only code that returned was code 2600 Temperature flap servomotor rear right.

Also, I measured the temps out of the 4 main outlets:

    Ambient outside temp: 72F

AC condition: Set to Mono, LO, automatic (full blast), air recirculation, all windows closed and all doors closed.

Measured temp of air coming out of the two front center vents, and out of the two rear center vents:

    FT LT - 51F

    FT RT - 71F

    RR LT - 55F

    RR RT - 71F

So looks to me that the right side of the car is blowing air much warmer than teh left side. If anyone can hep trboubleshoot for root cause, I would greatly appreciate it.

  10. To make sure the battery charging system is up to par - does this vehicle have 2 batteries? I thought it did. If so, do both have to be checked?

I assume it would entail to verify batteries are fully charged to begin with? Like do a full charge on battery and then load test it to see if voltage drops below min levels (which would indicate weak battery).

Any other ideas? Test the alternator? How (is there a tool that will test it while in the car - I cant imagine having to take it out to test)?

    Thanks again.

353 is common and can be triggered from something as simple as low battery voltage. You need to investigate code 2600 but the first course of action is to clear all codes and address any that return. A low or failing battery can cause endless odd electrical problems on CAN-BUS equipped vehicles so be sure the battery/charging system is up to par.

  11. OK. The Durametric cable came in today.

Here is what I see (these are the only codes I see in any section at all):

    AIR CONDITIONING:

    Part Number 11

    Diagnosis Number 11

    Current Fault Codes:

353 - Feedback from blower regulator front - Value below lower limit value

2600 - Temperature flap servo motor rear right

How much does this narrow down my search?

Would this explain the behavior I described above?

Much appreciate help with this. Thank you.

  12. this is regarding the 4 zone ac on my car.

here is what i have observed so far:

When i start he car and turn on ac, the driver side (front and rear) feel nice and cold, but the passenger side (front and rear) feel much warmer.

It appears to me that something is not right and wanted to see if someone can help troubleshoot. the heat is not far away here in TX and i would like it resolved before then.

Where do i start, whac can be suspect, etc. looking forward to having this resolved.

    Greatly aopreciate any help.

  13. I saw the sticker but have always known that most cars display pressures not necessarily for the sake of driveability but for the sake of lawsuit prevention. For that reason many use overinflated values.

Is that the case with the cayenne too?

Or can I be safe with the pressures they list on the door? They do have 2 values shown (one partial load, and another full load). For my tire size (275/45/19), is shows F:38PSI, R: 42PSI - all for partial load.

    Should these be trusted?

    Thanks.

  14. 05 ctt.

Have Michelin latitude sport tires on now. Does anyone on here have these and can recommend proper inflation pressure? I know manufacturer of car provides a sticker for pressure, but that doesn't mean it is correct. They usually give pressures that are still good for fully loaded cars (to be safe).

So if you can give some recommendations for front and rear, it would be great. So far I have been running 38 in front and 41 in rear.

  15. Have an 05 ctt.

I know from manual that there is a service now indicator, and that once lit, 'take it to authorized Porsche dealer for resolution'.

    1. Is there a way of displaying how far into the service interval I am ( for example how many miles are on current oil?). Or do I just wait until it comes on?

    2. Once lit, how do you reset it without having to go to the dealer? Button sequence or otherwise?

Thank you for your info in advance.

  16. I have an 05 CTT. Just checked the pcm and here are the versions I see (took over number from top of display on each screen):

On all screens, a line at top says: sw versions: 1.0 - not sure if it refers to each screen.

Navigation system: target: / actual: 00179159/4004

Satellite radio: target: 0140/2004 actual: 0140/2004

    Amplifier: target: 00016457/3804. Actual: 00016457/3804

System software: target: 04114AD1/1104. Actual: 04114AD1/1104

    PCM: target: 04202FD1/2704. Actual: 04202FD1/2704

    Living in the USA (TX).

What I would like to know is:

    1. What would I need to do to update to latest software versions (attempting to update navigation maps). Detailed explanation of what software and version levels needed, sequence of update will be greatly appreciated.

    2. Does anyone have a set of discs that would help me (would love a pm on this topic if possible).

Again, greatly appreciate the help from you. Have a great day/night.

  17. I took possession of a 2005 ctt. I have spoken to the owner and dealer about the kind of stuff they did with the car. Owner said oil changed about 1500 miles ago. Car has 56k on it.

    My questions:

    1. Should I change oil now or wait (I assume there will be oil change reminder?). Should I wait for the light to come on? It was down about 1 at, which I added to top up.

    2. Once light goes on, how do I reset it without having to go to dealer to do it?

    3. Should I wait for same with brakes? Pads/rotors?

    4. Anyone use the Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic in their cayenne? I know they recommend 0w40, but just wondering.

Your input will be greatly appreciated.
