  1. I haven't had a fault code appear. The rattle is likely caused by the chain tensioner (mine is very quick and then gone) and the tick also goes away quickly if I rev the engine. Oil pressure has always been strong.
  2. I plan on taking mine to a Porsche repair place here (we don't have a dealer, but we do have a few excellent Porsche service and repair folks) to see what they think. I was told that you might be able to clear the particulates by putting half oil and half automatic transmission fluid into the engine, running and flushing and then repeating. Monte
  3. That’s what mine is, then. A knock, but not a deep one. It goes away quickly. Thanks. I may check the chain tensioner also, thanks for the link. I was told by one person that the knock could be a result of oil not remaining in a lifter where it should and that once the lifter is lubricated, it goes away. Is there a fix for that, possibly?
  4. I can see you're having fun. I've had fun watching your progress and work. I'm having a similar problem to yours on a stock engine for a 99 996. You are certainly giving me inspiration to do some of the same work! Thanks for the running commentary.
  5. Just bought a beautiful dark blue Carrera 2 with nice interior. It has 103K miles and runs great. Very happy with it.
  6. Wow. I cannot believe a company like Porsche would pull something like this. Talk about a way to alienate customers.
  7. Hi All, My 968 radiator fan is always on as long as the ignition key is on. It shuts off when the car is shut off. This happened when a hose sprung a leak. That is all fixed, the car runs nice and cool, now. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what night be causing this - a bad sensor or something, maybe? Thank you for any thoughts. Monte
