  1. Wow! Just tracked down the TSB and I just emailed Sunset to see what it'll cost me. I'll see how it goes. Huge thanks to you Loren!!
  2. I have an 03 996 TT and today as I was about to turn on my car, the key just came apart. (See photos.) I am hoping I don't need a whole new key. is there a little hook on the spring loaded release mechanism on the bottom part? Does anyone know what I really should be assessing? Any assistance in identifying the part number would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Ok, I finally found some time to select an iphone/ipod adapter in my 08 CTT. (I never did buy the 10 CS) I've landed on the mObridge A2010 unit. Here's my question, what PCM head unit do I officially have and how can I confirm? When looking at the mObridge website, the image of the PCM 2.1 unit looks nothing like mine (see below link). Mine is all black with a few different buttons. can anyone tell me how I can find out for sure what mine is? thanks in advance!! http://www.mobridge.us/compatibility/vehicles/19/13152/13345/13145
  4. Streetcrawler's photo with the 18" turbo wheels in black looks so awesome! nice! doesn't powdercoating compromise the rim? somehow I've read that somewhere but maybe I misread it.....
  5. yeah, not what I'm looking for though. The black turbo 18" wheels that Streetcrawler posted are just what I'm looking for.
  6. I'm in the market for some 18" winter rims myself. I saw Streetcrawler's winter set (that he posted last year) and I'm in love. I've scoured ebay and craigslist and I'm really not coming up with much. I've even checked in with Wheel Enhancement and they have a couple choices I'm not too keen on. Since I have a 2008 CTT, I would like a set of 18" OEM. I assume these will fit? anyone have a great set they want to get rid of? I live in the SF bay area.
  7. if I am thinking about buying an extra set of rims (OEM or other brand,) can I simply buy the TPMS parts and have my tire shop install when they fit with new tires? Is the TPMS part number for cayenne: 955 361 053 00? Are there other parts I would need? Just curious as I was thinking of getting these right off ebay. I have a 08 CTT.
  8. So the concensus is that I should have the alignment looked at first before pulling the steering wheel off. I plan to give Custom Alignment a call per Loren's suggestion. I'm fairly close to them. I hope they deal with 'misaligned' steering wheels all day.
  9. I'm resurrecting an old thread. I have an 08 CTT. I just put two brand new tires on and rotated the wheels. However, even before I came in for new tires and rotation, my steering wheel is hanging just a tad down to the right when driving on a straight road. And it absolutely is bugging me, argh!! I've read about doing an alignment as well as removing the steering wheel. Questions: 1) what ultimately causes the steering wheel to hang like I mention? I know tire wear contributes but what else? 2) is an alignment always necessary to fix a misaligned steering wheel? 3) what would you recommended in my situation? thanks for all/any feedback.
  10. Appreciate the reference for the tires! As far as switching off the suspension, I'm going to take a look at the owners manual and do it myself when I pull up tomorrow. (unless it's so easy you can tell me) Thanks for the heads up!! is there anything I need to be aware of regarding the TPMS once the new tire is installed?
  11. Had my left, front tire on my 08 CTT blow out this afternoon. Nothing like popping a flat with 21"! The truck really handled itself beautifully. Luckily I had the inflatable spare. Roadside service came, pumped it up and slapped it on and I was good to go. I went straight to the tire store. As it turns out the front two tires need replacing (19k miles) I'm driving on Michelin Latitude 295/35R21. Here's the real question: they said that I will need to replace the two front ones due to the fact that this cayenne is AWD. They almost went as far to tell me that I need to replace all 4 tires. However, the rears have 7/32s left. Am I going to be okay just replacing the front two tires? Last question, can the tires be rotated on this truck? I just want to know how to best manage my tires. (they're pricey!!!)
  12. hey Loren, thanks! any leads on part numbers? I want just a black one. not heated.
  13. just test drove a 2010 Cayenne S that had a chunky, great thick steering wheel. It was amazing. Turns out it was an option for this MY. Here's the code on the option schedule: 1MV. First, if I bought a MY 2008 CTT, could I swap in this particular steering wheel? Second, does anyone have experience with a thicker steering wheel than the one that comes with the 2008 CTT? Curious to hear insights. thanks!
  14. On a related topic, can someone tell me the correct number/source for red 'S' for a 2010 Cayenne S? Is the one listed at Suncoast, the right version of the 'S'? looks a lot like the Carerra 4S...... http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/RedS.html?Category_Code=9552S_Emblems
  15. Been a long time p-car nut (currently own a 996 TT) and its time to trade in the Grand Cherokee SUV. Hence, I want to look at expanding p-car family. Found a nice, low mileage CPO 2010 Cayenne S and had a few newbie questions: 1) anything I should be on the look out for? It does come with a extended P-car warranty as I'm buying from a dealer...but I will ask anyway! 2) there looks to be a ipod/aux/usb option inside the center console- will this allow me to hook up my iphone too? what type of cable do I need? 3) it's got the stock exhaust package- which I just dont like. I really like the quad tip look, do I have to get a new valance if I want the quad exahaust tips? I will likely need to to with a TechArt or Fabspeed exhaust system right?? any other suggestions? 4) totally lame question: I would like to add the red "S", is this simply a peel off the current "S" and peel and stick job the new "S"? Should I be able to get a red "S" from Sunset? I'll stop there. Thanks in advance to any and all insights you care to share!! Cheers and enjoy the ride!!
  16. I felt I should report back what I found out to be the issue. I just had the car in for a 30K service and mentioned that I had this clutch pedal feeling...turns out it was the pressure accumulator. Yep. They replaced it and the clutch feels amazingly easy and shifting has never been this fun! I tell you what a difference a new pressure accumulator makes. I really appreciate the feedback and it certainly prepared me for my discussion with the porsche service tech. Hope this helps for others too.
  17. I've gotten feedback that the accumulator issue usually is the problem with cold start-ups. Mine is definitely not only at cold start-ups but when warm and running around town. Someone suggested that it could be a clutch slave cylinder? Any Thoughts on this? appreciate your insights everyone!! I'm gonna have to bring it in but it's good to be equipped with some ideas. (30K service time too!!)
  18. I have an 2003 996 TT with 30K miles. Here is something I've noticed recently: When I depress my clutch pedal, it feels kinda "rubbery" as I depress it; usually towards the end of the pedal motion going down. This is usually felt when I'm in first and second gear and starts to go away the faster and the higher the gears I shift. I also sometimes hear a creaking sound when the pedal goes down. As far as the shifting is concerned, my gears catch like normal so no observable issues there. No slipping, etc. This "rubbery" feeling and sound is definitely not what I'm used to. I realize diagnosing a problem on an internet board is definitely not optimal but I'm throwing it out in case others have experienced a similar type clutch 'feeling". Feel free to ask me anything else. What do you think could be going on??
  19. I've done some searching on this board (and others) and I'm trying to figure out what to look out for if my clutch is failing. I have an 03 996 TT with 29K miles. I wanted to know what the tell tales signs are of a clutch that needs replacing. I have had some creaking noise start coming out of my clutch pedal and it has a sort of weird feel when I depress the pedal (it just started recently.) However, when I drive, I can shift perfectly normal thru the gears. Can anyone shed some light on what to look for if a clutch is in fact going bad? my car is not a daily driver so I'm just exploring ideas...thanks!!
  20. thanks for the responses! This is all helpful. As for my location, I am in Southern Califronia so road curve is not such a big issue although that's what the service writer blamed it on. In fact, on straight roads the car would veer right...therefore, I am thinking the alignment was set poorly. I will also check the air pressure too now that I am aware of that potential issue. I am trying to get the spec sheet which would be helpful although I wouldnt know how to read it....I may be able to scan and attach for comment..... cheers!
  21. I come to revisit this topic. Obviously, its best to get N rated tires for the Porsche, but if I cannot get the right size tire in N rating, will XL be okay? In fact, I may have to match non-N rated fronts with N-rated rears and as my original post suggests, this isnt encouraged......I welcome thoughts on how I should proceed. Including suggesting alternative tires......It might be a stupid question to many of you, but I am such a novice...its scary. Thanks for insights....
  22. Thanks WrossTT! Since I am not sure what the comparison shows, would you mind summarizing/interpreting?.....I'm a total novice. thanks!!
  23. I asked this question on another board and wanted to get some expert advice. I just put on Michelin PS2s 235 40/18 in front and 295 30/18 in the rear....will keeping 235s in the front and 295s in the rear hurt my car? (since the stock fronts were 225s) Someone made the below comment and recommended I go with 315/ 30/18 for the rear: "Yeah, it's going to mess up your differential. The front diameter is too large for the rear diameter. As a result, the differential is going to try and "compensate" for it which is going to work it overtime. There's a certain "range" where a little size variation is allowed. However, the 235/295 combo is out of that range." Need I be concerned???
  24. Anyone else care to comment/reply? I am open to hearing feedback...all is welcome, please.
  25. thanks for the post! Well, let me continue my story....I take it back to the dealer where the alignment was conducted and I proceed to describe what Im feeling. Let me add the car drifts to the right as I drive on the freeway. The service rep tells me that this drifting is evident in all correctly aligned Porsches from the factory. He decides to take my car for a drive and says that everything feels/drives normal. I tell him that previous to bringing it in, the car drove straight like an arrow. He explains that the car was likely out of alignment. He even gets the technician on his walkie talkie who confirms his story. He then gets takes another Turbo on the lot and we go for a spin. He explains that this car will also drift right and it does slightly..... can anyone confirm that if aligned correctly to spec, this indeed happens? I havent read anything about this. Just curious. He tells me that if it drives me insane, they'll make it drive straight but it likely will be out of spec. Thoughts/comments welcome.
