  1. Loren is right, the off-set should be your first concern if you're going with a non-standard wheel. Here's a link that explains + and - off-sets. https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hspart=Lkry&hsimp=yhs-SF01&ts=sy&type=RVMC_80801299&obt9bpdyed=0&p=wheel+offset+explained&param1=na3P9yVrJGqvPvCqRup_pzIIq1zthImQpB82c3v2Z8GFZtNE2QOKTAtFHpqUaCiQQYVMyWMQbUzFjqoj9kT-oevPkRD8UkFYRJtNREW7db1hmNExj0Nb5moGbo547bjUCVX6Rk6bkCFD9pyflwPlBxZtkny1HkR_5zEazwRBjvyZiwIuFt_SJSMOzRY_P6-pK6Bmgvq1WS-qGWuFMIypAfpscg%2c%2c
  2. Alex, Whether this is germane to your question, I run 305/30-11"X19" wheels on my '03' C4S. I'm running a center lock conversion with a +37 off-set.
  3. If I have the correct part I don't see it in the PET Manual... I assume there is the same screw and bushing on the other side? Remove it and go to your favorite hardware store and replicate the bushing. Ace has a good selection of brass tubing, or look at their hoses. I'm sure if you spent enough time at your favorite Porsche dealer you could find your part. All of this depends on your time and need to keep everything original.
  4. We changed out the Trinary switch which is located next to the A/C charging ports. But no joy... I have the A/C relay that goes under the back seat, but I have a back seat delete so its more involved to get to the relay. However all my experiences have been either a relay works or doesn't. The system works great, but I might have to live with this until I can figure it out. The only trouble is here in Texas you don't want to wait 10 minutes for cold air when it's a 100 degrees on a hot August day.
  5. We replaced the pressure plate, disc and throw out bearing while we were there. No idea where the metal came from...
  6. Turns out a piece of metal got trapped in the pressure plate... Even though this piece of metal relatively small the clearances between the pressure plate and disc are also very small. This small piece of metal kept the clutch from engaging...
  7. Steel the battery out of your wife's car and with jumpers you're in like Flynn... Also, there are quite a few posts on this subject. There is a search box at the very top of this page...
  8. Loren, I have a 996, I think you're showing me the 997. I really appreciate the help. My 3rd brake light is mounted above the deck lid and the wire goes through the cabin bulkhead never to be seen again. I have the LS3 conversion, but the 3rd brake light was not of any part of the conversion...
  9. Joe, Good thought, but I converted the 3rd brake light to an LED and the plug only goes one way. I bench tested the plug and LED. There's just no power to the plug... Electrical gremlins like this make you crazy, particularly when some of the wiring is buried in the bowels of the car.
  10. Loren, Yes, I'm aware that the junction of VS13 is 3 wires into 1... I'm laboring that during the removal and replacement of the transaxle we disturbed some wiring. That theory is just a shot in the dark. Do you know if the X23 is in the engine room or in the tail light cavity? Thanks, you're the best...
  11. I thought by posting a schematic that someone would know where the junction of VS 13 is in the wiring? Thanks,
  12. No kidding... I am going to change out the Compressor relay and check the radiator fans to be sure they're cycling correctly. My immediate problem is finding out why my 3rd brake light isn't working. I failed my safety inspection so I need to get that fixed, PDQ. See my post on that... Thanks again,
  13. It's good, I can't give you the numbers, but my guy was happy with it... Thanks for your reply,
  14. Thanks Loren, I was afraid of that, I have a back seat delete so it's a little work getting the hinged package tray out of it's resting place...
  15. Reference: 2003 996 C4S The 3rd brake light is not working, the light (LED) is good, has a ground, but no power. The left and right tail lights all work including the brake lights. Porsche schematic shows power for the left, right and 3rd brake light all come from a "connection point" VS 13. I had the transaxle down and if VS13 is in that area that could maybe account for the wire being dislodged from its connection? My car has never been molested so it has to be a simple problem if I knew where VS 13 is... Would anyone know where VS 13 is?
  16. Joe, where is this relay (s)? What you're suggesting is replacing No. 4, A/C Compressor? Again thanks for the help...
  17. Joe, I really appreciate your help, I'll pursue each idea, I never thought that the system was so cross involved with so many other components. What happen to the ole' days when you had one switch for one system...
  18. First, try to jump the post at the driver's side kick fuse panel... Do you have an owner's manual, the various ways to access the trunk are well documented.
  19. Joe, Interesting, I wasn't aware that they were tied into the A/C system. Yes on the front sensor, I thought that was the outside air temp. How do you check these 2 sensors? Thanks,
  20. When the car is cold it takes 5-10 minutes of driving before the compressor clutch engages, then good cold air. However once the car is warm up and you stop, then restart the car the A/C comes on immediately. We've installed a new compressor clutch and there's voltage to the clutch? Anyone have any suggestions on what is going on... Thanks, Mitch
  21. You don't want to know my thoughts... Tell me this is a one-off car that won the 24 hours of LeMands driven by the Porsche factory drivers. It has to be a special car with the provenance to go with it to warrant the expense. But we all do silly things that have no reason other than you wanted to do it, ask me how Iknow... Good luck,
  22. Thanks for everyone's input... I agree with DBJoe996 while I've been neglect on changing out the brake fluid I don't think it would lead to near total clutch failure. I've ordered both the master and slave cylinder thinking I would review both for leaks, then replace the master cylinder first... My question, could the master cylinder be bad and not leak any fluid, but bypassing the brake fluid internally? Thanks,
  23. Loren, I haven't changed the brake fluid in longer than that. Shame on me... There doesn't appear to be any leaks. I wasn't aware there was a clutch master cylinder, is it a part of the brake master cylinder? Brakes work fine...
  24. On my 2003 C4S the clutch has been slowly engaging closer and closer to the floor. Now I can't always shift it. The brake reservoir is full. I guess the first thing I would do is to bleed the slave cylinder. If that doesn't help would you next replace the slave cylinder, it was new 20,000 miles ago. Am I correct if the clutch goes south the pedal engages high on the pedal travel, correct? I did a search but came up dry... Thanks,
