  1. The mileage is 82,000, it was very well maintained by another forum member. It has regular service & is in great mechanical shape. Do you have a suggestion on getting under it? I dont have a lift. I see things like this: http://www.amazon.com/RhinoGear-11909-RhinoRamps-Vehicle-Capacity/dp/B006EGAIII/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419607751&sr=8-1&keywords=auto+ramp I dont know if thats safe or unsafe, or what others are doing. Thanks, Rich
  2. Hi, I have my 1999 996 that I have owned for two years. I noticed a very slight oil leak, drops on the floor. I stuck my phone under and grabbed these photos. What does this look like (aside from wet)? Any ideas on if this is the RMS/IMS leaking or something else? Thanks, Rich
  3. Can I use any off the shelf antifreeze to add to the coolant resiviour tank? It is low. I would like to get it to the full line when cold then check the level periodically to see if it is leaking.
  4. I will also take a look at this, thanks its on my to do list!
  5. Hi, I am pretty new to my 996 & was out the other day in 95 degree heat zipping around with the top down, generally having a great time. I noticed the temp light flashing but the temp was in its normal range. I started to head home & cranked up the heat (assuming it might help - maybe not but then I blame John Candy), I made it home parked & was thinking of taking it out today but thought I should check it out first. With that being said, after some reading I see there are some issues with the coolant tank expansion cracking, etc. How can I check the expansion tank & the radiator? For that matter, how do I check the oil levels? I pop open the hood & its a little more mysterious on how they shoehorn everything into the 996. Thanks, Rich Its a 1999 996 Cab.
  6. So I did plug it in & I seem to be unable to get any audio to come out of my Android phone. Is there a mode I need to hit on the radio? I pressed source but it was not an option. Any ideas?
  7. Hi, I have a 996 & CDR-220 radio. I was/am debating putting in a full kenwood nav, but for the moment, I bought a Aux cable & plan to use my phone for both music & nav. I bought this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HQRP-Audio-cable-Blaupunkt-to-3-5MM-fits-Porsche-Becker-CDR-22-CR-220-CDR-220-/271108257702?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160 HQRP Audio cable Blaupunkt to 3.5MM fits Porsche Becker CDR-22 CR-220 CDR-220 Could someone tell me where to plug it in? Thanks, Rich
  8. I found that if I played with the switch, the seat does move, but it certainly seems like a bad switch. Not quite making proper contact. I will take another look when I pop it open. Thanks, Rich
  9. Hi, My 99 996 has an issue with the seat. If you move the seat forward, its fine, it wont go back, though once in a while I can get it moving backwards. The back adjustment doesnt seem to work at all going back, but again does go forward. I dont think the motor is a problem in the seat, but the switch seems to be faulty. Is there some way for me to manually force the seat to go back? Is there some wires i can jump or other magic to get it adjusted? I am taking the wife out for her maiden ride in the car tomorrow night, and I really dont feel like listening to her complain about how uncomfortable it is because she is leaning forward - not that she wouldnt be right but after spending $17K on a used 14 year old car, i would rather hear how happy she is. Thanks,Rich
  10. I am having a hard time deciding on if i should go with a ipad or regular alpine unit with nav?
  11. Sorry, I am still having a hard time getting started on this. What should I be starting with in terms of removal? I read some things have snaps, others dont. I am pretty confused on starting.
  12. Hi, I am getting ready to tackle putting a new radio on my 99 996. I was curious if there is a write up with photos on removing a chunk of the center section of the dash. I have the stock becker 220 in it now. Thanks, Rich
  13. White99c2, I am thinking about getting a 6990HD too. Can you comment on how you like it after a month with it? Can you post a few photos?
  14. Hi, I am looking to get rid of the orange side marker lights with clear ones. I see them on Ebay & a few other places. Is there a preferred online shop or RT sponsor that sells them? Thanks, Rich
  15. Congrats! I just bought my black 99 cab last week! Must be something in the water! Enjoy it!
  16. Thanks for the reply! Where can I get the 2003 996 manual in PDF? Maybe that would help with some of the ones that didnt change. Is there an online source to buy the WKD-996-120-99?
  17. Hi, I just bought a 1999 996 Cab & am really enjoying it. Between the radio & the dash (as well as under the dash), there are a lot of buttons. The 996 didnt come with an owners manual & I am not exactly sure what is what. Is there an online manual, or somewhere that would explain what the buttons do? Is the button my the drivers left the eject button? Thanks, Rich
