  1. That's some good info, MikeOH. Always good to get real-life commentary before jumping into the job. I'm about to tackle this task myself on my '04. Wish me luck!
  2. At last, someone with the same problem as me! When I hit about 70MPH I get a flapping noise from somewhere in front of the driver side dashboard. It's as if there is an air deflector door of some sort that is loose. Does anyone know if there are speed sensitive air deflectors that can malfunction? This noise magically disappears when I crank Guns n' Roses on the stereo. I don't think it's heater/AC related because the noise is independent of the fan speed and floor/dash/defrost selection. And it's not an undercarriage thing either. I thoroughly inspect the wheel wells, under carriage, everything the eye can see... Nothing! Any hints?
  3. My 2004 Boxster now has a metal-on-metal noise coming from the right rear side. The noise started randomly a few days before I took the car in for a brake job. The brake job is fine but the noise persists. It is constant and the pitch changes as my speed changes. It does not change when I apply the brakes so I don't think it's related there. My kids hear it also, so I know i'm not going cuckoo. The reason I say this is because when I took the shop technician out to demonstrate the noise, it wouldn't happen! So with a child or with no one in the passenger seat, I get the noise. With the 210 pound service tech in the passenger seat, no sound. I'm thinking an axle seal of some sort maybe? Maybe the weight of the technician changed an angle in the drive train and the noise went away? Any thoughts?
