  1. Ordered a valvatronic exhaust for my 2004 996TT X50 from NHP (maxspeedmotorsports.com). Nello is a first class seller and the customer service, and equally important is fantastic. Here is a person who advised me that a part I wanted to order, from him, was not really necessary. I find this level of honesty and CS a rare find. Have the NHP (maxspeedMotorsports.com) Valvetronic exhaust installed on my 996TT and it works flawlessly. I know this is the tech area of the site, but I think vendors who supply the proper information are invaluable. Thanks
  2. Thanks for the info. I agree with your thoughts, I know it had to effect something besides the wing. MY is 2004 996TT. Thanks again!
  3. Is it safe to "assume" that if I pull the fuse (which I believe is D7 on the turbo), while the wing is fully extended, it will stay extended? I like the look, but do not want to install a "permanent kit" so I may have the flexibility of returning to auto operation when I want. Would this work and/or do I run the risk of damaging a relay or anything else in the process? Thanks again!
  4. Great! Thanks for the quick reply. It did seem to run quite often. Can it become defective or perhaps even blow a fuse? Thanks again.
  5. I was cleaning up some oil spilled during an oil change and while I had the airbox out, I spotted this wired component, looks like a sensor lying on the top of the engine area. I then found the round receptacle just under and slightly in back of the intercooler hose that seemed it might be where this was mounted. Proceeded to insert it from the rear and it popped into place. I did notice the decklid fan did not engage yesterday after a drive, but cannot be absolutely sure of that. I have attached to lousy photos in hopes someone might know what this piece is for so if something goes wrong, I might be able to trace it back. Thanks for any help.
  6. Can anyone tell me what model CD Changer (OEM) is compatable with a 2004 996 w/bose? Thanks
  7. Thanks gentlemen! That was the answer I thought I would hear and makes the most sense. Thanks again, Randy
  8. Just to double check, I plan on puting my 996 on jack stands and using the rear cross member to raise the car while I place the stands under the jack points. Any problems using the rear cross member or any cautions? Thank you
  9. Any opinions re the best High Flow air filter for a 996TT, K&N or BMC, or is the OEM just as good using the standard air box? Thanks
  10. JPFLIP, Thanks for the response. The piece is in the photo sitting on top of the engine forward of the just under the place on the lid where it is prior to removal. Looks like you have the same 996TT pictured, same parts as on my 2004TT my npiece is just all the way toward the front of the compartment. Thanks Again.
  11. (As you are aware, supposed to be Engine. Too quick with the posting button) Can anyone tell me which way the flat rubber strip, about 2" wide, all the way forward on the Decklid on the 996tt is applied? The self adhesive tape allows for two positions, the strip pointing straight down and the strip pointing straight forward towards the front of the car. The original strip was "crinkled up" so I removed it and "yes" I did not note the exact positioning. Any help will be appreciated.
  12. Sounds good, I have been looking for these lights. Please put me on the list and my preference would be 997 style for 996TT. Thanks Rmoudry
  13. Anyone have the part number for the turbo oil drain plug washers? Is the part the same as the crank case or oil tank? Thanks for the help.
  14. Thank you I used CHF 202. Problem solved!
  15. What hyd oil may be used in the power steering in a 2004 996TT? Seems my mechanic did not check and even at temp. fluid does not show on the dip stick. Thanks in advance for your help. Randy
  16. Does anyone have experience with these exhausts? Any problems tapping into the Porsche's vacuum system re the performance of the car or possible problems? Any ideas or experience would be appreciated. Thanks!
  17. Just bought my first 996TT, having owned an '88 911 cab for a number of years. Had all the fluids changed and bought a replacement oil filter. First, I was really surprised when I found the filter is in the engine bay and not under the car, second was the frail appearance of the Mahle replacement. Two questions: 1. Is there a more substantial replacement out there? 2. Can the filter be changed without draining the oil system? It seems it may be a bit messy, but looks like it is possible. Thanks for any info you can provide. Randy
  18. Hi, I am planning to replace my battery and cannot find the radio code. It is a 2004 996TT w/PCM, in preparation is there any way I can get the code from the radio/Nav system prior to removing the battery for replacement? Thank you. Randy
  19. Thanks Folks, I knew that was the answer, just looking for an easy way out. Now I realize I have two cars that need the same service. Thanks again! Happy 4th!
  20. When changing the brake fluid is it necessary and/or advisable to bleed the system at the same time? It would seem that bleeding should be done at that time, but if it is not really necessary, certainly would make the job easier. Thanks again!
