  1. Not sure this is exactly what you need, but may have some helpful info. Click Here Good luck! **Thanks - I think that I figured it out through a link there and the TSB for Installing a Music interphase. http://www.planet-9.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=296 There is a bolt on the back side that holds this piece in place along with 4 locking tabs. I was hoping to get it out without removing the arm rest but doesn't look like it. minor set-back. DC
  2. Hi there, I am looking to install a Dension 500 on my 2005 C2 997.1. I want to run the AUX cable to my center console having it come out next to the plug socket. I'd like to take it out to be sure I don't damage anything behind it. I tried to pry it and it's very hard so I am afraid I will start to scar the plastic if I keep prying. Can someone help me gain these instructions? or walk me thorugh the trick to get this piece out? Greatly appreciated it. Thanks,
  3. Get a warranty - My CPO has over a year left and I will definatelly get one after that runs out! I just went through the IMS /New engine situation on my 2005 C2 (18k miles) and so glad the CPO covered everything.
  4. If you don't mind.....How much was the final bill? What's the warranty on your re-build? thanks, FYI - I just had the IMS fail on my 2005 C2 (18,000 miles) Thank God for CPO -The dealer first attempted to re-build the engine and got it to run for about 2 days before the noises came back. -Finally, new engine replaced so now it's back to new Again...thank God for CPO warranty!
  5. As long as my dilantin blood levels are within the normal range, I'm OK (they were a bit low at the time and my dosage has since been increased), but I understand your point; the last thing I want is to hurt anybody. That's also the reason why my license was suspended for 3 months and yes, that'll be a tough decision I'll have to make if my driving privileges are restored. Sorry about the car, From another Porsche driver that is epileptic, my body started to reject/process Dilantin so fast the dose increase was out of control. Talk to your DR. about using Carbatrol since it has a slow release. I've been on it for over 6 years with no issues. This has given me the confidence to really enjoy driving my 05 997 C2. I was paranoid about driving with Dilantin. Good Luck
  6. Hi Loren, New battery...no code CDR 220 Type 4462 W5005555 48/98 Thank you so much, --R
  7. Hi there, So I was enjoying a nice sunny day with the top down (Must do in Seattle area) and noticed that the left side clam shell was sticking up abit more than normal. I looked inside by holding the roof half way and I can see that the small metal rod that controls the hook latch that tightens the shell down has come off. I attached a shot of the hook latch and a diagram of it. Any suggestions on what part I need to replace? Is it the hook latch or the metal piece? Do they come together? (what would be the part #s) Appreciate any advice from the gurus, thanks, 1999 996 C2 Convertble Triptronic
  8. **Wrong Forum...-= Help Loren, can you move to the correct one. This is not a DIY - Hello, So I started the weekend hoping for some fun driving but ended up with a rattle coming out of the rear of the car. I had a similar rattle in a previous vehicle and it turned out to be te Catalytic Converter but not much for diagnosing these German babies. Is there a fault code that get set when the cats start to rattle? Would hooking up the computer show anything on this? What I mean is, is it worth ($$$) taking it to the dealer for just diagnostics (would they find it fast) or is this something that can be easily spot? Any help to spot the trouble would be an awesome relief? - Any work weekends in Seattle coming up? If its the Cat...how long until the CEL goes on? what else could get hurt after that or will it just rattle? The performance is still there! - ( there is a mustang that is probably still trying to catch me from this weekend) thank everyone, 1999 996 C2 Triptronic
  9. Great point and I'm glad you brought it up. Though, I wonder how the fender could make a difference? I guess I don't understand specifically what the "fender" part would be...I'm pretty new to the DIY world. Thanks. Good subject, I have also been wondering what would it take to just upgrade the nose style. I found a couple of possibility via kits to go to the 997 but nothing on the 996 02+: http://www.xtrememotorcars.com/ http://www.prestigebodykits.com/products/b...107656f7a7e036e BUT the prices are CRAZY  + paint + lights on top of that..... Let me know if you do find a DIY way to work in either the 02+ nose or the 997 nose to the old 996. thanks,
  10. I Would take it to anywhere where they can pressure test the cooling system and see how significant the leak may be. You can then decide as to what next steps may be necessary. Most water pumps begin to leak ( weep a bit of coolent) at the water pump bearing/seal very slowly to give you a warning that it may be getting close to needing replacement. Good luck!! demosan Thank you Loren and Demosan......I will keep an eye on it while I order the part. I looked at the DIY and it doesn't look much harder than when I changed the expansion tank.
  11. Hi there, I noticed a small drop coming out near the bottom bolt of the water pump pulley. Not a full leak...just a drop here and there. The coolant reservoir has not dropped at all. Does this mean that my pump is toast? or how much longer before it goes? Right now there is no other symptoms. No weird noises, nothing else. 1999 C2 - Cabrio - triptronic Thanks, Raul
  12. Hello, I was wondering if anyone might know what the best (easiest) way to align the headlights on a 99 -996. These are not Litronics..just good old standard lights. Also, if I have to remove the module I was thinking about switching to whiter/brighter lights. What bulbs are the best performers without spending the $1,500+ on litronics? Thanks,
